SSINKTC45: Black Magic Dragonflies

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card with the featured technique:

This is such a great technique and I'm surprised that I've never actually used it! For my card, I knew that I wanted to use the Dragonfly Dreams Stamp Set. The dragonfly image gives a great space for coloring fun! I kept my card in the Bright collections by using the wonderful Watercolor Pencils. I kept my card clean by just adding a few layer and a pretty bow.

  • Stamps: Dragonfly Dreams; Scenic Sayings (sentiment inside)
  • Inks: White Craft Ink
  • Cardstock: Melon Mambo; Basic Black; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Organza Ribbon

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the featured technique:

For my card, I knew I wanted to go simple and let the background really shine. After creating my salted background, I simply added a trio of bumblebees and a sentiment. Easy peasy, but such a great looking card!

SSINKTC42: Understated Bloom

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the technique below.

For my card, I used the traditional way of doing stained glass cards. I have also seen others use a large cutout die (like the Rose Garden Thinlits) and replace the middle pieces with colored paper. Very cool effect, but I enjoy doing the heat embossing and vellum technique. For my card, I used the Birthday Blooms stamp set as my stained glass image. I have found that the trick to coloring is to use darker markers to show the color more. After coloring, I handcut my vellum and placed it in the corner of my card. I added a metallic doily and a sentiment.

Detailed of the flower:

  • Stamps: Birthday Blooms; Dragonfly Dreams
  • Inks: Perfect Plum; Elegant Eggplant; Always Artichoke; Pumpkin Pie
  • Cardstock: Falling in Love DSP; Very Vanilla; Crumb Cake
  • Accessories: Metallic Doily
  • Tools: Gold Embossing Powder; Vellum

SSINKTC41: Dreamy Dragonflies

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the technique below.

For my card, I knew I wanted to keep a fairly monochromatic color palette and use my dragonflies. I started with making my base. There are a few ways to achieve the bokeh effect. I chose to use the sponging and craft ink method. I have also seen a watercolor method and a water drop method. Search YouTube for some great tutorials.

I sponged Night of Navy, Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay, and Pool Party onto a piece of white cardstock. From there, I die cut some different size circles into a piece of acetate to create a template. I then stenciled on craft white ink to soften the colors and create the bokeh effect. From there it was just a matter of deciding which dragonfly to use and picking a sentiment. I went with the fun multiple dragonflies and jazzed it up with a bit of Wink of Stella (hard to see in photo). For the sentiment, I pulled out my SAB stamp set Designer Tee. This little sentiment fir perfectly in my square Stitched Shapes Framelits. I added a layered piece of Island Indigo to give it some depth. Loving this card!

SSINKTC40: Green Tree

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the technique below.

For my card, I decided to create my own mask using the Circle Framelits. I simply die cut a medium circle out of a piece of white cardstock. From there, I sponged on three different green inks to create my multi-colored tree. I decided to continue the green theme with some fun apple print DSP. I finished the card with some gold enamel shapes to give the card some bling.

  • Stamps: Sheltering Tree
  • Inks: Wild Wasabi; Old Olive; Always Artichoke; Early Espresso
  • Cardstock: Fruit Stand DSP; Old Olive; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Metallic Enamel Shapes
  • Tools: Circle Framelits; Daubers

SSINKTC39: Multicolored Trees

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the technique below.

I love using the baby wipe technique to add another layer of visual interest to my cards. For this one, I had fun experimenting with Totally Trees. I love how my row of multicolored trees came out! Instead of autumn colors, I decided to play with traditional Christmas colors. Very festive! I wanted the trees to be the focal point of the card, so I added a simple sentiment and few layers. At first I had the green cardstock squared up with the white, but on a whim I angle the green cardstock. And surprise, surprise, I loved it slightly askew!

  • Stamps: Totally Trees; Wonderful Year
  • Inks: Garden Green; Cherry Cobbler; Old Olive; Early Espresso
  • Cardstock: Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate; Garden Green; Real Red

SSINKTC38: Spooky Skeleton

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the technique below.

I decided to use my colored and embossed piece of cardstock to frame this little spooky skeleton. I'm especially fond of the polka dot pattern paper peeking through the oval and the edges. As a finishing touch, I added some Pumpkin Pie enamel dots to help "bling" up my card.

  • Stamps: Cookie Cutter Halloween; Labeler Alphabet
  • Inks: Pumpkin Pie; Craft White
  • Cardstock: Halloween Night DSP; Pumpkin Pie; Whisper White; Basic Black
  • Accessories: Halloween Night Enamel Dots
  • Tools: Woodgrain Embossing Folder; Ovals Framelits

SSINKTC37: Tiled Eclectic

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the technique below.

The love the simplicity of faux tiled cards. For mine, I pulled a piece of Affectionately Yours DSP to play off of. From there, I pulled some ink colors (Night of Navy, Cucumber Crush, and Daffodil Delight) and a stamp set that would go (Kinda Eclectic). For this card, I scored every 1", but you can pick a different scoring amount. After scoring, I stamped and hoped some of the tiled effect would show. You can see it the best on the middle navy butterfly.  After stamping, I finished my card with a strip of washi tape and a die cut sentiment.

  • Stamps: Kinda Eclectic; Happy Happenings
  • Inks: Night of Navy; Cucumber Crush; Daffodil Delight
  • Cardstock: Affectionately Yours DSP; Very Vanilla; Daffodil Delight; Night of Navy
  • Accessories: Affectionately Yours Washi Tape
  • Tools: Lots of Labels Framelits
