SSINKMC34: Stars and Fireworks

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using 3 or more elements from below. I chose to use shape, colors, glitter, and patriotic.

I decided to use one of our great new In Colors: Dapper Denim! Real Red pairs perfectly to create a very patriotic color scheme. I stamped an image from Kinda Eclectic that reminds me of a firework. Once the sentiment was added, I evaluated the card and found it too plain. Enter glitter, gold ribbon, and gold sequins. Much much better!

  • Stamps: Celebrate Today, Kinda Eclectic
  • Inks: Dapper Denim, Real Red
  • Cardstock: Dapper Denim, Real Red, Whisper White
  • Accessories: 1/8" Gold Ribbon, Gold Sequins, Gold Glitz Dazzling Details
  • Tools: Lucky Stars Embossing Folder

SSINKMC33: Going Places Thank You

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using elements from the mystery challenge below.

For this month's challenge, I used four the elements: shape, colors, special element, and theme. I played with picking some patterns from the Going Places DSP stack and helping to fill out the remaining spaces with a washi tape covered circle and a stamped circle. The size of the circles are slightly off, but overall I love the look of this card.

SSINKMC32: Beautiful Bouquet

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the requirements from the April Mystery Challenge.

This month, I went with three elements: shape, color, and tool. I stamped and punched a bunch of flowers in Daffodil Delight and Mossy Meadow to create a bouquet. I added a heat embossed sentiment.  Candy dots, a bow, and a punched out sentiment completed the card. The finished card is more subdued than my usual design and palette, but it's a nice change. I love doing these mystery challenges. I never know what I will end up creating.

SSINKMC31: Shades of Red

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create using some of the elements below. This month I went with three of the elements: Monochromatic, Single Layer, and Heat Embossing.

I grabbed four coordinating inks from the red family (Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo, Rose Red, and Real Red) and went to two layering elements from a few different stamp sets. For most of the background images, I stamped off before stamping on the Whisper White sheet. This helped balance the colors and ink saturation. As a last touch, I heat embossed the edges of the large butterfly with gold embossing powder. A nice challenge for this week!

SSINKMC30: Easter Baskets

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a project using at least three of the items below. For this month's mystery challenge, I chose four of the items: non-card project, all the colors, 2 or more punches/dies, and Easter theme.

I made a simple Easter basket to use this coming March. I finally bought the Berry Basket die and just had to make an Easter/spring basket. After assembling the basket, I went about decorating it. I didn't want to go too crazy, so I just added some stamped and punched flowers finished with candy dots. Very simple, but such a great little 3D project. The February stamp club ladies made their own versions last week.

  • Stamps: Flower Shop
  • Inks: Wisteria Wonder, Bermuda Bay, Blushing Bride, Daffodil Delight
  • Cardstock: Cucumber Crush, Wisteria Wonder, Bermuda Bay, Blushing Bride, So Saffron
  • Accessories: Candy Dots
  • Tools: Pansy Punch

SSINKMC29: Color Wash Thank You

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using items from the mystery challenge...

I decided to go with four different elements: color, technique, tool, and special element. And I love how this card turned out! I started with a piece of watercolor paper and played with the watercolor emboss resist technique to create the sentiment. From there, I repeated the ink colors in the three layers of cardstock. I incorporated two different embossing folder to give the card more texture. Finally I added a thin stripe of Wink of Stella along the raised portion of the stripes (see pic below for glitter detail).

Detail of the glitter:

  • Stamps: Another Thank You
  • Inks: Watermelon Wonder; Bermuda Bay; Wild Wasabi; Versamark
  • Cardstock: Watermelon Wonder; Bermuda Bay; Wild Wasabi; Watercolor paper
  • Accessories: Wink fo Stella; White Embossing Powder
  • Tools: Decorative Dots Emboss Folder; Stripes Emboss Folder; Heat Gun; Aqua Painter

SSINKMC26: Thanksgiving Treat Box

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using our Mystery Challenge Rules. What to do? This month I went with Burlap, Island Indigo, and Thanks.

Instead of a card, I decided to make a little Thanksgiving treat box. Wouldn't these look adorable as place settings for Thanksgiving dinner? I sponged on some ink to the bottom of the box to give the paper a little something extra. I then added the sentiment tag for a fun pop of color. I think the little wooden leaf really makes the box! And the burlap is a great texture instead of using regular ribbon.

  • Stamps: Petite Pairs
  • Inks: Tangelo Twist; Island Indigo
  • Cardstock: Into the Woods DSP; Island Indigo; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Into the Woods Elements
  • Tools: Baker's Box Thinlits

SSINK Mystery Supply Challenge

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. This was the second month for our new mystery supply challenge. Each of the design team members sent three embellishments/supply pieces to another team member. The receiving team member had to create a card using the sent supplies. Sounds like so much fun! Check out what I sent and what she made on the main page. I received these supplies from Darcy Johnson: stamped images from Snow Place and Six Sayings (hostess) and a piece of white glitter ribbon.

Obviously I was going to make a Christmas card, but what to add to it?  I d decided to go simple and make the mystery supplies the focus of the card. I cut down the sentiment, added a card base and coordinating strip of color. And finally I embossed the piece of smoky slate for texture. Easy peasy card, but oh so cute!

  • Stamps: Snow Place; Six Sayings
  • Inks: Night of Navy; Basic Gray
  • Cardstock: Night of Navy; Smoky Slate; Pool Party; Whisper White
  • Accessories: White Glitter Ribbon
  • Tools: Decorative Dots Embossing Folder

I sent these supplies to Sara Grafton. Pop on over to Craft Break see what she created.

SSINKMC25: Drip Dry Pumpkin

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using our Mystery Challenge Rules. What to do? I decided to include a pumpkin, watercolor, and a framelit.

I saw a new watercolor technique on Pinterest a few weeks back. I had to try is out! Basically you wet your watercolor paper, squirt some ink onto the top of the paper, and hold it up to let it drip down. This was my first attempt at the technique, but I'm sure I'll be trying it again soon! After adding the pumpkin, I layered some DSP and a stamped image. I finished the card with some burlap twine.

SSINKMC24: Manly Stars

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using our Mystery Challenge Rules. What to do? Should I use all five elements, only three, or maybe four? I ended up using four of the elements!

I decided to play off the colors and make a more masculine card. I love the new color collection DSP patterns and just had to feature some in Tip Top Taupe. Such a nice layering piece. From there, I decided that the white piece was too plain with just the sentiment, so I added some stars. Much better! I finished off the card with some die cut stars and a bit of sparkle with the gold sequin trim.

  • Stamps: Perfect Pennants
  • Inks: Tip Top Taupe, Night of Navy, Hello Honey
  • Cardstock: 2015-2017 In Color DSP; Night of Navy; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Gold Sequin Trim
  • Tools: Stars Framelits
