Music Monday -- Favorite Covers VII
While sifting through all our music, I came across a ton of songs (over 1000) that I wanted to add to my 101 Favorite Songs list. I had to narrow it down. As part of my narrowing, I decide to delete all covers from the list. But those are some great songs, ones I really love. So, I decided to give them their own series on Music Monday. If you like covers, stay tuned for some good ones. Part I,Part II,Part III, Part IV, Part V, Part VI.

Music Monday -- 101 Faves New Songs Edition
As part of my ongoing Day Zero Project, I've made a list of my favorite 101 songs of all time. To help cut down on the possibilities, I took songs only from my iTunes account. Each edition will include ~5 songs with a theme. Enjoy!
Mumford and Sons "Ghosts That We Knew" -- I think I had this song on repeat when the album was released. It's just way amazing!
The Civil Wars "Kingdom Come" -- I found them through The Hunger Games soundtrack. Now I am completely in love with them.
Florence + the Machine "What the Water Gave Me" -- Love her quirkyness. This song is the best on the album.
OneRepublic "Secrets" -- One of my go to bands for great sing along songs. I think I like the live version better...
Music Monday -- Current Faves
Instead the usual music monday post, I just grabbed a few songs that I am dying over right now. Some are new, some are old, all are much loved by me. Enjoy!

Flogging Molly "Float" -- Love love love this song, especially live
Of Monsters and Men "King and Lionheart" -- My other current album obsession

Jamie Cullum "Blame it on My Youth" -- Awesome song!
Music Monday -- 2012
As part of my ongoing celebration for my 30th birthday, I am highlighting some popular songs from throughout my years. Songs were picked based off of a list of Grammy award winners and Billboard Top 100. Then, I chose my favorites to highlight.
Year: 2012
Music Selections: I realize that it is only September, but I've come to the end of my Music Mondays My Years posts. So I thought I would end them with some of my favorites for this year so far.
- Florence + the Machine "What the Water Gave Me" -- Such a beautiful song. This is hands down my favorite song on the album.
- The Black Keys "Gold on the Ceiling" -- Who doesn't love The Black Keys? I would take them home any day.
- Green Day "Oh Love" -- While I wasn't that excited about 21st Century Breakdown, I am loving this song...
- David Guetta feat. Sia "Titanium" -- This is my summer song.
- The Shins "Simple Song" -- Another favorite band. I love this song way too much and James Mercer's voice is to die for...
- Jack White "Sixteen Saltines" -- I really must buy this album. I love everything Jack White does.
- Santigold "Disparate Youth" -- I'm not a huge fan of hers, but I love the music behind this one.
- Mumford and Sons "I Will Wait" -- I can't wait until the new album. I already pre-ordered it on iTunes.
- Alex Clare "Too Close" -- A relatively new find for me. Love his voice.

Loving Mumford & Sons
So who saw Mumford & Sons, the Avett Brothers, and Bob Dylan on the Grammys last night? Best performance of the night (and I loved Eminem, Dr. Dre, Rihanna, and that other chick). While their actual performance was amazing, Mumford also played KROQ's pre-Grammy party. I found this great live version of "Little Lion Man" on YouTube.com. Enjoy!
Music Monday - Mumford & Sons "White Blank Page"
About three months ago, a FB friend put up the video for "Little Lion Man" and I instantly went out and bought their cd. I love their sound: a mix of Flogging Molly, Damien Rice, Jamie Cullum, and traditional Irish/bluegrass. Love, love, love it! It's different from the other crap I keep hearing (looking at you Justin Beiber). My local coffeehouse has put Mumford on permanent rotation and I welcome the addition. Besides the beautiful music, their lyrics are absolutely to die for. Lately I have been stuck on "White Blank Page." The lyrics are pretty dark, but so hauntingly beautiful: a relationship gone wrong. I feel for the man singing it... Don't worry, my relationship is not in any way in danger. But such a beautiful song. Just wanted to share a bit this morning.
Lyrics :
Can you lie next to her and give her your heart, your heart?
As well as your body, and can you lie next to her and confess your love, your love?
As well as your folly and can you kneel before the king and say ‘I’m clean’, ‘I’m Clean’?
But tell me now where was my fault, in loving you with my whole heart?
But tell me now where was my fault, in loving you with my whole heart?
Her white blank page & a swelling rage, rage
You did not think when you sent me to the brink, the brink
You desired my attention but denied my affections, affections
But tell me now where was my fault, in loving you with my whole heart.
But tell me now where was my fault, in loving you with my whole heart
AhhhAhh(s)
Lead my to the truth and I will follow you with my whole life
Lead my to the truth and I will follow you with my whole life
AhhhAhh(s)
Great video from YouTube.com of their bookstore acoustic set!
