Music Monday - Green Day "One Eyed Bastard"

So excited that Green Day is back making music. Still love them 30 years after discovering them.

Music Monday -- 101 Faves Rock n Roll Edition (Part 3)

As part of my ongoing Day Zero Project, I've made a list of my favorite 101 songs of all time.  To help cut down on the possibilities, I took songs only from my iTunes account.  Each edition will include ~5 songs with a theme.  Enjoy!

Must have songs to rock out!  I've even included some oldies but goodies in here.

The Raconteurs "Many Shades of Black"

Special extra: Adele's cover of "Many Shades of Black"

Fall Out Boy "Hum Hallelujah"

Eve 6 "Here's to the Night"

Green Day "Holiday"

Music Monday -- 2012

As part of my ongoing celebration for my 30th birthday, I am highlighting some popular songs from throughout my years.  Songs were picked based off of a list of Grammy award winners and Billboard Top 100.  Then, I chose my favorites to highlight.

Year: 2012

Music Selections: I realize that it is only September, but I've come to the end of my Music Mondays My Years posts.  So I thought I would end them with some of my favorites for this year so far.

  1. Florence + the Machine "What the Water Gave Me" -- Such a beautiful song.  This is hands down my favorite song on the album.
  2. The Black Keys "Gold on the Ceiling" -- Who doesn't love The Black Keys?  I would take them home any day.
  3. Green Day "Oh Love" -- While I wasn't that excited about 21st Century Breakdown, I am loving this song...
  4. David Guetta feat. Sia "Titanium" -- This is my summer song.
  5. The Shins "Simple Song" -- Another favorite band. I love this song way too much and James Mercer's voice is to die for...
  6. Jack White "Sixteen Saltines" -- I really must buy this album. I love everything Jack White does.
  7. Santigold "Disparate Youth" -- I'm not a huge fan of hers, but I love the music behind this one.
  8. Mumford and Sons "I Will Wait" -- I can't wait until the new album. I already pre-ordered it on iTunes.
  9. Alex Clare "Too Close" -- A relatively new find for me. Love his voice.

Music Monday -- 2004

As part of my ongoing celebration for my 30th birthday, I am highlighting some popular songs from throughout my years.  Songs were picked based off of a list of Grammy award winners and Billboard Top 100.  Then, I chose my favorites to highlight.

Year: 2004

Book: Persepolis: The Story of a Return

Music Selections:

  1. Third Day "Wire" -- I was obsessed with this band for awhile.  And this is my favorite song of theirs.
  2. Green Day "Holiday" -- Green Day at the height of their creativity.  Their current album just doesn't compete to American Idiot.
  3. Jason Mraz "You and I Both" -- Love this song to pieces.  I definitely don't like everything Mraz does, but this song is just lovely.

Music Monday -- 2009

As part of my ongoing celebration for my 30th birthday, I am highlighting some popular songs from throughout my years.  Songs were picked based off of a list of Grammy award winners and Billboard Top 100.  Then, I chose my favorites to highlight.

Year: 2009

Book: The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks by Max Brooks

Music Selections:

  1. Lady Antebellum "I Run to You" -- Another LA song.  I just really like them.
  2. Green Day "21st Century Breakdown" -- A blast from my past.  I remember listening to Dookie right after it came out and thinking "this is awesome."  While my fanatical nature ebbs and flows, I always end up revisiting Green Day and checking out their new stuff.
  3. Kings of Leon "Use Somebody" -- Great band.  Interesting music.  I love turning this on in the background and quietly sing along.
  4. Owl City "Fireflies" -- The boys and I were obsessed with this song over the summer of 2009.  Every time it would come on the radio, I had to crank it up and belt it out.  The boys even sang along.
  5. Kelly Clarkson "My Life Would Suck Without You" -- There's something about Ms. Clarkson's synthesized studio music...  I sing along every time.  I guess it's my guilty pleasure.
