Music Monday - Linkin Park "The Emptiness Machine"

I’m really digging this new Linkin Park with Emily joining her massive vocals.

Music Monday -- 101 Faves Rock n Roll Edition (Part 2)

As part of my ongoing Day Zero Project, I've made a list of my favorite 101 songs of all time.  To help cut down on the possibilities, I took songs only from my iTunes account.  Each edition will include ~5 songs with a theme.  Enjoy! More rock songs to enjoy today...

Fuel "Million Miles" -- Saw them in concert circa 2004.  Very fun and I just love this song.

AFI "Miss Murder" -- I was student teaching when this song came out.  My students were impressed that I knew who AFI was.  We had a music day.  The song has stuck with me.

Alkaline Trio "Calling All Skeletons" -- Saw them in concert with Blink 182 and A New Found Glory.  And one of their friends was an acquaintance in college.  Great song!

Linkin Park "Crawling" -- My hands-down favorite Linkin Park song.  Now one of my boys loves them.

Music Monday -- 2003

As part of my ongoing celebration for my 30th birthday, I am highlighting some popular songs from throughout my years.  Songs were picked based off of a list of Grammy award winners and Billboard Top 100.  Then, I chose my favorites to highlight.

Year: 2003

Book: Unknown

Music Selections:

  1. Linkin Park "Numb" -- This album came out right after the boys were born.  I just loved this song so much.
  2. Dave Matthews "Gravedigger" -- I've liked Dave Matthews Band since "Ants Marching" and Dave's solo album is wonderful.  I actually think I like the electric version of this song more than the acoustic.  Usually that isn't the case, but this time it works.
  3. Justin Timberlake "Cry Me a River" -- I do like me some Justin TImberlake.  It just gets stuck in your head and never leaves.
  4. Evanescence "Bring Me To Life" -- Amy Lee's voice is to die for.  I can't get over this song.
  5. The White Stripes "Seven Nation Army" -- My introduction to The White Stripes and it is an amazing one.  Enjoy!

Music Monday -- Linkin Park "Waiting for the End"

I've been a fan of Linkin Park since Hybrid Theory.  They're not particularly deep.  They're not particularly emotional.  But they do have good music to listen to in the background.  It's also great driving music.  I love singing along with the windows down! This week's selections comes from the iTunes Festival.  I had to purchase their set right away.  And definitely this is my favorite song from the set.

Lyrics (my favorite lines in bold):

[Mike:] This is not the end, this is not the beginning Just a voice like a riot rocking every revision But you listen to the tone and the violent rhythm Though the words sound steady something empty's within them We say yeah with fists flying up in the air Like we're holding onto something that's invisible there Cause we're living at the mercy of the pain and the fear Until we dead it, forget it, let it all disappear

[Chester:] Waiting for the end to come Wishing I had strength to stand This is not what I had planned It's out of my control Flying at the speed of light Thoughts were spinning in my head So many things were left unsaid It's hard to let you go

I know what it takes to move on I know how it feels to lie All I want to do Is trade this life for something new Holding on to what I haven't got

Sitting in an empty roomTrying to forget the pastThis was never meant to lastI wish it wasn't so

I know what it takes to move on I know how it feels to lie All I want to do Is trade this life for something new Holding on to what I haven't got

[Mike:] What was left when that fire was gone I thought it felt right but that right was wrong All caught up in the eye of the storm And trying to figure out what it's like moving on And I don't even know what kind of things I said My mouth kept moving and my mind went dead So I'm picking up the pieces, now where to begin The hardest part of ending is starting again

[Chester(till end):] All I want to do Is trade this life for something new Holding on to what I haven't got I'm holding on to what I haven't got I'm holding on to what I haven't got

[Mike:] This is not the end, this is not the beginning Just a voice like a riot rocking every revision But you listen to the tone and the violent rhythm Though the words sound steady something empty's within them We say yeah with fists flying up in the air Like we're holding onto something that's invisible there Cause we're living at the mercy of the pain and the fear Until we dead it, forget it let it all disappear

And a special little treat for you: Their cover of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep"
