SSINKCC40: Variations of Green

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the colors below.

Right away I ran into a bit of a snag. I don't have Sahara Sand ink, but I do have Sahara Sand Cardstock. So I made a bit of a substitution. I kept the Sahara Sand Cardstock as a layering piece, but used Crumb Cake for the trees and Tip Top Taupe for the sentiment. Beyond that, I had fun coloring the leaves on the repeating tree three different green colors to give them more interest. The card felt a little too plan without a pattern paper (the other side of the envelope paper is dots which looked too busy), so I added a bit of gold foil paper peeking out from behind the tree image. Perfect little pop of shine! To finish the card, I added a nice sentiment and a few Flirty Flamingo Enamel Shapes.

  • Stamps: Totally Trees; Suite Sayings
  • Inks: Crumb Cake; Tip Top Taupe; Old Olive; Pear Pizzazz; Always Artichoke
  • Cardstock: Gold Foil; 2016-2018 In Color Envelope Paper (Flirty Flamingo); Sahara Sand; Old Olive; Whisper White
  • Accessories:2016-2018 In Color Enamel Shapes

October DSP Special!

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using one of the DSP packs on special. For the month of October, buy three packs of qualifying paper packs and get one free! I love when SU runs this once a year deal. It's great to build up your pattern paper stack and save a bit of money. The list of qualifying paper packs are a mix of annual and Holiday catalog offerings:

141663      Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper
141645      Moroccan Designer Series Paper
141660      Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper
141654      Blooms & Bliss Designer Series Paper
141630      Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper
141640      By the Shore Designer Series Paper
141986      Presents & Pinecones Designer Series Paper
141981       Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper

For my card, I focused on the Blooms and Bliss DSP. I love the pinks and purples for half the pack and the blues and greens for the other half of the pack. Along with using the beautiful patterned paper, I also tried out a new-to-me technique: aluminum foil embossing! It was so easy and makes a nice addition to the card.

  • Stamps: Suite Sayings; Watercolor Wings
  • Inks: Blushing Bride; Sweet Sugarplum; Rich Razzleberry; Smoky Slate
  • Cardstock: Blooms and Bliss DSP: Rich Razzleberry; Sweet Sugarplum; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Wink fo Stella
  • Tools: Petal Burst Embossing Folder; Lots of Labels Framelits; Butterfly Thinlits

SSINK September 2016 Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration blog hop! This month we are creating ABC 123 cards. That's 1 stamp set, 2 pattern papers, and 3 embellishments.  As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number 3on the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration Blog Hop – Carrie @ Carrie Stamps. If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn’t work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

September's theme was mystery supplies. We've done mystery supplies in the past and always had so much fun! I'm glad we brought the idea back for the blog hop. Each participating member sent a collection of random supplies to another member. The receiver had to create a card featuring those items. These are the items I received from Darla:

I was excited to see these supplies as I don't have the Playful Palette Paper Stack. I decided to use all the pieces given, play off the colors in the DSP, and make a fun birthday card. I added the background stamp, sentiment, and enamel shapes to compliment the banner, ribbon, and balloons. I love how colorful this card turned out. Very cute!

  • Stamps: Playful Backgrounds; Suite Sayings
  • Inks: Peekaboo Peach; Sweet Sugarplum
  • Cardstock: Playful Palette DSP; Very Vanilla; Peekaboo Peach; Sweet Sugarplum
  • Accessories: In Color Enamel Shapes; Sweet Sugarplum Ruched Ribbon
  • Tools: Balloon Bouquet Punch

Trio of Bears

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a celebration card. Being a part of a parent group, there's always someone having a baby. This card is perfect for the new addition to the family. I took the same basic design as my Trio of Beasties card (coming on Monday) and replaced the beasties with bears. SU doesn't have any current baby DSP, but the A Little Foxy DSP is a perfect mix of patterns to use for a card like this. Overall, a super cute little card!

I also made a variation using some retired colors and paper as a make n take for my August crop day.

  • Stamps: Cookie Cutter Christmas; Suite Sayings
  • Inks: Calypso Coral; Pool Party; Smoky Slate
  • Cardstock: A Little Foxy DSP; Calypso Coral; Pool Party; Whisper White
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Cookie Cutter Punch

Slim Gift Box

Day 4 of my countdown to the Holiday Catalog! Check out this great new product:

Today’s project is a simple slim gift box. This is a super easy box perfect for including some chocolates or a chapstick. Start with a piece of 6"x6" paper. Score at 1 3/8", 2 3/4". 4 1/8", and 5 1/2". Rotate your paper 90 degrees and score at 1 3/8" and 3 1/2". Fold all score lines. Cut out the small rectangle piece and cut end flaps. Glue together to form a box. Glue the bottom flaps. Fold top like a milk carton and punch a hole. Add some ribbon, a sentiment, and inside goodies!

  • Inks: Rich Razzleberry
  • Cardstock: Botanical Gardens DSP (retired)

Notecard Folder

For today's random craft, I found this perfect little notecard folder online last week. We will be making this for stamp club in August using a variety of colors and stamps. This is the perfect little gift! For my folder, I decided to pull two retired, but still loved colors, Strawberry Slush and Pistachio Pudding!

Dimensions for folder and box are as follows:

Folder

-- 9-1/4 by 5-3/4 inches

-- Score on the long side at 4-1/4 inches and 5 inches

-- Round the corners if desired (I just did the top corner)

Box for cards

-- 8-7/8 by 3 inches

-- Score on the long side at 3-5/8, 4-1/8, 7-3/4, 8-1/4 inches.

-- Score on the short side at 1/2 inch

-- Assemble with a strong adhesive

Before attaching the box for cards, add a piece of ribbon on the outside of the folder. I used some retired Crumb Cake ribbon. (See pic above) Once the ribbon is in place, attach box to inside of the folder. You can also make a sleeve to hold your envelopes using a simple piece of cardstock. I cut mine to 1 1/2" x 11". I wrapped the cardstock around my notecard envelopes, score, and attach to the folder. I don't have precise measurements for this one.

For my notecards, I cut some Whisper White to the notecard size (3 1/2" x 5"). From there I added some simple stamped images from Timeless Textures, a sentiment from Suite Sayings, and a butterfly from Papillon Potpurri. I went simple. Two cards are done in Strawberry Slush and two cards are done in Pistachio Pudding. This gift is so perfect to make in bulk for friends and family. I'm certain I'll make a few different variations.

  • Stamps: Timeless Textures; Papillon Potpurri; Suite Sayings
  • Inks: Strawberry Slush (retired); Pistachio Pudding (retired)
  • Cardstock: Strawberry Slush (retired); Pistachio Pudding (retired); Whisper White
  • Accessories: Crumb Cake Ribbon (retired); Rhinestones
  • Tools: Itty Bitty Butterfly Punch; 1" Circle Punch

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the colors below.

Probably my most used stamp set is Papillon Potpurri, but I haven't used it lately. Time to change that! I focused on a simple explosion of colors using the big swoop from the Work of Art set and coordinating butterflies. A simple sentiment completes this beautiful card.

Butterfly DSP

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create my own Designer Series Paper using my stamps. I adore my butterfly stamps and immediately pulled those out to use. From there it was just a question of my color palette. I decided to go with my reds and pinks and have fun. I kept the additions to this card simple to highlight my homemade DSP. This card is going to a special friend who just had a new baby girl.

  • Stamps: Watercolor Wings; Papillon Potpurri; Suite Sayings
  • Inks: Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, Rose Red
  • Cardstock: Melon Mambo; Blushing Bride; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Affectionately Yours Washi Tape

Copper and Mint

7:22

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card featuring metallics. I decided to highlight the beautiful new metallic: copper. I think Mint Macaron works beautifully with copper, so I started with my color combination. I created my own background DSP pattern using the Love and Affection stamp set and copper embossing powder. I added a strip of copper foil Affectionately Yours DSP and a strip of the new Mint Macaron Striped Ribbon. A heat embossed sentiment finishes off this card.

Detailing of the heat embossing and foil details on the DSP.

  • Stamps: Love and Affection; Suite Sayings
  • Inks:
  • Cardstock: Affectionately Yours DSP; Mint Macaron; Crumb Cake
  • Accessories: Mint Macaron Mini Striped Ribbon
  • Tools: Lots of Labels Framelits; Copper Embossing Powder

SSINKCC35: Red, White, and Blue Birthday

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the below colors. This month's color challenge includes one of SU's new In Colors: Dapper Denim!

I don't make many patriotic cards, so I took the colors and made a bright and sunny birthday card. I pulled out an old stamp set, Flower Shop, and went to town using the triple stamping technique. In assembly, this is a such a simple card, but it definitely makes a statement.

  • Stamps: Flower Shop; Suite Sayings
  • Inks: Real Red, Dapper Denim
  • Cardstock: Real Red, Whisper White
  • Accessories: Dapper Denim Ruched Ribbon
  • Tools:
