Layered Paisleys

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using a Holiday Catalog bundle. As soon as I got my Holiday Catalog, I knew the entire Petals and Paisleys suite would be mine. I love the shapes and colors. Thankfully, you can buy the Paisley Framelits and the Paisleys and Posies stamp set as a bundle. I always love saving a bit of money.

I saw a cute card on Pinterest that layered the paisley pieces to create a whole new look. And I immediately wanted to try the technique. After building my two paisleys, I added some fun coordinating DSP that wouldn't compete, some copper accented DSP, and a nice sentiment. The card was missing the finishing touch until I added some Mint Macaron ribbon.

  • Stamps: Paisleys and Posies
  • Inks: Night of Navy
  • Cardstock: Petals and Paisleys DSP; Very Vanilla; Night of Night; Mint Macaron; Delightful Dijon; Rich Razzleberry
  • Accessories: 3/8" Mint Macaron Ribbon
  • Tools: Paisley Framelits

Currently...

Watching: J's gone still and the server's down... I have to rely on Netflix to fill my watching selection. Thankfully Netflix has three seasons of Penny Dreadful. I've been meaning to start this show since it first aired. Already five episodes in. So good!

Reading: The Last Camellia by Sarah Jio. It's our book club selection for September and I'm getting a head start I won't be able to attend book club (scheduled baby date), but it was originally my suggestion. Only about 25 pages in, but so far, so good.

Listening: Arthur's upset Netflix took off Dinosaur Train. Thankfully he can watch on the PBS app on the iPad. That theme song is seriously stuck in my head now.

Making: I put aside crafting for a bit so I could attempt to fill the freezer with meals before the baby comes. So far I've made 2 trays of baked ziti, 12 breakfast burritos, 20 pumpkin french toast sticks, 12 apple cake bars, and 12 cereal bar cookies. Hoping to get to some chicken dishes tomorrow.

Feeling: So many activities this week and I'm already so sore!

Planning: Baby is being evicted in 20 days. I have a few projects that I need to complete before he comes (Arthur's bday party, freezer meals, fall social planning, cleaning the house, crop day, stamp club, and a few other small things).

Loving: Popcorn has become the toddler and I's go-to snack lately. So yummy!

SSINKCC37: Chocolate Stripes

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the colors below.

This card is a direct case from Blythe Kipple @ Stamping with Blythe. I loved her vertical curtain fold card with flower embellishment. I just changed the colors and added a pearl to the center of the flower. Simple card using colors I don't usually gravitate to.

  • Stamps: Friendly Wishes
  • Inks: Garden Green
  • Cardstock: Neutrals DSP; Cajun Craze; Garden Green; Chocolate Chip
  • Accessories: Pearls
  • Tools: Botanical Garden Framelits

White Lilies

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a thank you card. Now this card doesn't say "Thank you," but I think this could be used as a thank you card. I had fun pattern mixing and playing with shapes. I don't often use my white craft ink, but when I do, I'm always loving the result. Simple card, but oh so pretty.

  • Stamps: Remarkable You
  • Inks: Crumb Cake, Craft White
  • Cardstock: Fruit Stand DSP, Neutrals DSP, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Crumb Cake, Whisper White

September 2016 Crafting Goals

  • Finish off Arthur's birthday crafts including Thank You cards - I only have a few things to finish.
  • August PL - Of course
  • Prep baby's PL album - This will happen before he arrives!
  • Start The Craft Sea newsletter - New venture. We'll see how this goes.
  • Finish prepping/completing cards for all September events and October's design team -- I want to be well ahead of the game before the baby arrives.

A recap of last month's goals:

  • Prep the new baby’s PL album — Fail. Still didn't do this.
  • July PL pages — Success
  • Catch up Arthur and twins’ albums — Success. Everyone's album is completely up to date.
  • Participate in a craft garage sale/post leftovers onto Craigslist —Success! I made a huge dent in my for sale pile. I'll probably leave the stuff out for September's classes and crops, but then it will just get packed away until later.
  • Plan out Arthur’s birthday party crafts — Success. I made a plan, just need to complete it.

A Simple Fox

Tomorrow's the day! The launch of the Holiday Catalog is less than 24 hours away. Here's your last sneak peek video...

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a kid's card. I immediately went to the cute Foxy Friends stamp set. I decided to go super simple with a little fox and some layered papers. I added an embossed piece of Smoky Slate to give more texture. I didn't add a sentiment on the outside but will be adding a Happy Birthday inside for an upcoming 1st birthday card.

  • Stamps: Foxy Friends
  • Inks: Calypso Coral, Early Espresso, Basic Black
  • Cardstock: A Little Foxy DSP, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Smoky Slate
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Circle Framelits

Just Keep Swimming

Sneak peek time! We're getting so close to the launch of the Holiday Catalog...

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a masculine card. This Seaside Shore stamp set and coordinating paper is perfect for all the men in your life. I went with a simple design highlighting the beautiful stripe patter and stamp set. The only other piece I added was a few gold sequins to add a bit of pop. Notice that I fussy cut the fish and popped him on a dimension to give more dimension.

  • Stamps: Seaside Shore
  • Inks: Night of Navy; Soft Sky; Wild Wasabi
  • Cardstock: By the Shore DSP; Night of Navy; Soft Sky
  • Accessories: Gold Sequins

Sunday Haul #18

Before my haul, let's watch another great sneak peek video...

Today's haul highlights my August stamp club order. Doesn't look like much, but I was needing to replenish some of my cardstock. Instead of just getting single color packs, I took advantage of a few packs that match DSP packs. I got the This Christmas cardstock (Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Very Vanilla), Moroccan cardstock (Delightful Dijon, Emerald Envy, and Very Vanilla), Real Red (for Christmas obviously), and 2016-2018 In Color cardstock. This should hold me over through the fall.

A Flirty Shaker

Another great sneak peek video for this Friday.

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a shaker card. Last month I borrowed Sheltering Tree from a friend and ended up stamping some extra trees and images to use later. This simple tree was perfect to build a shaker card from. I added a bit of color directly onto the tree and then repeated the color with some punched confetti stars. The shaker part was missing something so I added some great metallic sequins. Perfect! Some washi tape and a simple sentiment completed the card.

  • Stamps:Sheltering Tree, Jar of Love
  • Inks: Early Espresso, Flirty Flamingo, Sahara Sand
  • Cardstock: Flirty Flamingo, Whisper White
  • Accessories: Metallic Sequins, Moroccan Washi Tape
  • Tools:Lots of Labels Framelits, Confetti Stars Punch

Slim Gift Box

Day 4 of my countdown to the Holiday Catalog! Check out this great new product:

Today’s project is a simple slim gift box. This is a super easy box perfect for including some chocolates or a chapstick. Start with a piece of 6"x6" paper. Score at 1 3/8", 2 3/4". 4 1/8", and 5 1/2". Rotate your paper 90 degrees and score at 1 3/8" and 3 1/2". Fold all score lines. Cut out the small rectangle piece and cut end flaps. Glue together to form a box. Glue the bottom flaps. Fold top like a milk carton and punch a hole. Add some ribbon, a sentiment, and inside goodies!

  • Inks: Rich Razzleberry
  • Cardstock: Botanical Gardens DSP (retired)
