You're My Hero

Day 3's sneak peek video features one of my favorite products from the Holiday Catalog:

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the annual Ronald McDonald House Stamp Set. This year's stamp set is called My Hero and contains some great little images.

For this card, I focused on the "You are My Hero" badge. While this image coordinates with the Best Badge Punch, unfortunately I don't own it. No matter! I could usually fussy cut this image. In fact, I cut it out and decided that the white background was too plain. So I mounted the badge on a piece of Dapper Denim Cardstock and fussy cut a slightly larger image to give some depth. From there I pulled some pattern paper in a blue and green color palette. Lately, I've been loving pattern mixing. For this card, I mixed a piece from the Moroccan DSP pack and a piece from the 2016-2018 In Color Enveloped Paper pack. The paper looked a bit plain so I added a strip of coordinating ribbon and some enamel shapes. Finally I wanted a bit of shine, so I finished the card off with a circle of silver foil to highlight the badge sentiment.

Day 3 means it's time for another great sneak peek video...

And now on to today's regularly scheduled post.

Watching: Instead of watching regular movies, J and I have watching the RiffTrax versions of movies. This week's selections were Battlefield Earth and Batman and Robin. Both horrible movies made entertaining with RiffTrax.

Reading: Getting back into some fluffy romance with More Than a Mistress by Mary Balogh.

Listening: Changing up our Pandora channels. Arthur and I were enjoying The Lumineers yesterday.

Making: Busting out the fall themed stamps!

Feeling: The pain ebbs and flows. Saturday was horrible, Sunday was decent, Monday was okay until I vacuumed the car and the house then it was bad, today is back to decent.

Planning: J leaves for his big work trip this Sunday. Arthur and I hope to fit in some fun activities while he's gone and the baby's still cooking.

Loving: I love when I wake up to fog that burns off about 10am. No 90 degree days for us right now.

SSINKTC36: Dinosaur Spotlight

Before we get to today's card, I'm sharing this great sneak peek video from the Holiday Catalog. Look for a new video everyday from now until September 1st!

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the technique below.

I knew I had to use the No Bones About it stamp set at my focal point. The solid color dinosaurs and skeletons are perfect for the spotlight technique! I stuck to a simple color scheme of blue and green and started playing with my dinosaur. After spotlighing the middle dino, I made sure to add a few embellishments. I'm especially in love with the new enamel shapes. Very versatile!

  • Stamps: No Bones About It
  • Inks: Pacific Point; Emerald Envy
  • Cardstock: Pacific Point; Tempting Turquoise
  • Accessories: 2016-2018 In Color Enamel Dots
  • Tools: Confetti Stars Punch; Squares Framelits

Sunday Haul #17

So I went to Michael's for snail and to look at the party supplies and I came home with all this stuff! I've been trying to decide on a 2017 planner for about a week and was leaning towards either an Erin Condren planner or another Happy Planner. Well, Michael's had all their planners B1G1 50% and they had the new Happy Planner line including the seasonal planner (the one I was eying!). So I ended up buying the 2017 Seasonal Happy Planner and a huge sticker pack for 50%. I also grabbed snail (yay for remembering) and a big pack of Design A page protectors (all out and thankfully remembered that fact). Arthur is having a Paw Patrol themed birthday party in about a month and I've been browsing for related items at various stores. We grabbed a paw print stamp and paw print stamps (for decorating cards and such), a dog bone cookie cutter (for favors), red and blue cupcake liners, and sprinkles in the Paw Patrol colors (for cupcakes)!

Back to School Stars

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a Back to School themed project. I played around with design and stamp sets, but ultimately settled on a mix of patterns highlighting stars. I'm currently loving the brown and blue combo of Early Espresso and Island Indigo. I added some washi tape and a bit of embossing to jazz up a pretty simple card design.

  • Stamps: Labeler Alphabet
  • Inks: Island Indigo
  • Cardstock: Neutrals DSP; Island Indigo
  • Accessories: Moroccan Washi Tape
  • Tools: Stars Framelits

Ombre Flower

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using a hostess stamp. I went really simple with a fun ombre design with stamped flower. I wanted to highlight this stamp set but wasn't wanting to color it all in today. This was the perfect alternative!

  • Stamps: Fabulous Flora
  • Inks: Early Espresso
  • Cardstock: Watermelon Wonder; Flirty Flamingo; Pink Pirouette; Blushing Bride
  • Accessories: 2016-2018 Enamel Shapes; Affectionately Yours Washi Tape

SSINKIC36: Watermelon Flower

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the inspiration picture:

Immediately, I knew that I wanted to make a simple card featuring a big flower (much to my surprise!). I thought I would be drawn to the butterfly, but instead I was drawn to the red flower. I've been drawn to simply designed cards lately. This big flower from the Remarkable You set is perfect to feature. I added a simple sentiment and matting. But there was something missing... Rhinestones helped, but the card was still missing something. So I took a black marker and made a simple frame. Easy peasy, but it adds so much visual interest to the card!

  • Stamps: Remarkable You
  • Inks: Watermelon Wonder, Old Olive, Basic Black
  • Cardstock: Watermelon Wonder, Black, Whisper White
  • Accessories: Rhinestones
  • Tools: Black Marker, Rule

Notecard Folder

For today's random craft, I found this perfect little notecard folder online last week. We will be making this for stamp club in August using a variety of colors and stamps. This is the perfect little gift! For my folder, I decided to pull two retired, but still loved colors, Strawberry Slush and Pistachio Pudding!

Dimensions for folder and box are as follows:

Folder

-- 9-1/4 by 5-3/4 inches

-- Score on the long side at 4-1/4 inches and 5 inches

-- Round the corners if desired (I just did the top corner)

Box for cards

-- 8-7/8 by 3 inches

-- Score on the long side at 3-5/8, 4-1/8, 7-3/4, 8-1/4 inches.

-- Score on the short side at 1/2 inch

-- Assemble with a strong adhesive

Before attaching the box for cards, add a piece of ribbon on the outside of the folder. I used some retired Crumb Cake ribbon. (See pic above) Once the ribbon is in place, attach box to inside of the folder. You can also make a sleeve to hold your envelopes using a simple piece of cardstock. I cut mine to 1 1/2" x 11". I wrapped the cardstock around my notecard envelopes, score, and attach to the folder. I don't have precise measurements for this one.

For my notecards, I cut some Whisper White to the notecard size (3 1/2" x 5"). From there I added some simple stamped images from Timeless Textures, a sentiment from Suite Sayings, and a butterfly from Papillon Potpurri. I went simple. Two cards are done in Strawberry Slush and two cards are done in Pistachio Pudding. This gift is so perfect to make in bulk for friends and family. I'm certain I'll make a few different variations.

  • Stamps: Timeless Textures; Papillon Potpurri; Suite Sayings
  • Inks: Strawberry Slush (retired); Pistachio Pudding (retired)
  • Cardstock: Strawberry Slush (retired); Pistachio Pudding (retired); Whisper White
  • Accessories: Crumb Cake Ribbon (retired); Rhinestones
  • Tools: Itty Bitty Butterfly Punch; 1" Circle Punch
