September Crafting Goals

A recap of last month’s goals:

  • Plan out SU Bingo for September -- Done! I have everything planned out. Bingo is Saturday. Just need to do the final prep work.
  • Finish August's Cards -- Success!
  • Plan out at least two kids' crafts (possibly one meetup event) -- Fail... I didn't even think about doing this.
  • July MP pages -- Done!

September's goals:

  • Plan/Schedule classes for September and October -- I slacked a bit in August. Need to get back on it.
  • August MP Pages -- My monthly goal
  • Plan out club stamps/projects for October, November, and December -- I want to know which sets to use in the coming months. I don't like to repeat stamp sets that often.
  • September's cards -- I haven't even really got these started...

Berry Burst Floral Butterfly

A simply in color butterfly card for August's die cuts class. I love the inset butterflies allowing for the DSP to shine through. After assembling the basic card, I went back in and added a bit of Wink of Stella to the Berry Burst butterfly. (Can't see in the picture, but it's nice and shiny in person.) I also added a matching Bitty Bow as a last touch.

Planner Spreads May - August

While I love to share my cards and my memory planner pages here, I've never really highlighted my planner pages. I'm a huge fan of The Happy Planner by mambi. This year is my second using their planners and I am obsessed. In this post, I highlight all my weekly spreads from May to August. See my spreads for Jan-April here.

May -- Lots of fun colors in my May spreads. I also used a lot of kits: Bee-utifiul from Fabulously Planned (May 1-7), Mother's Day kit from Kaidens Mom Shops (May 8-14), Floral kit from Formless Designs (May 15-21), Polka Dots from Plan-It Planet (May 22-28).

June -- Lots of bold colors for this month. Plus lots of kits! Snow White kit from Simply Sweet Planning (May 29 - June 4), Alice in Wonderland kit from Simply Sweet Planning (June 5-11), Mermaid kit from Simply Sweet Planning (June 19-25), Dr. Seuss kit from Plan-it Planet (June 26 - July 2).

July -- Of course I had to pull out my patriotic kit for the week of the Fourth. From there, I just went with some random fun kits i had in my stash. Patriotic Kit from Simply Sweet Planning (July 3-9), Doctor Who Kit from Polished Patterns (July 10-16), Alice in Wonderland from Formless Designs (July 17-23), Blue, Green, and Tan kit from Formless Designs (July 24-30).

August -- Wrapping up this third of the year with some super bright and fun spreads! I pulled out all my bright kits before making the transition to more muted colors for the fall. Rainbow kit from Brianna Nicole Designz (July 31 - August 6), Back to School kit from Kaidens Mom Shops with leftovers from the rainbow kit (August 7-13), Seasonal stickers from Mambi (August 14-20), Swept Away from Fabulously Planned (August 21-27), and Alice in Wonderland kit from Formless Designs (August 28 - September 3).

CTS236: Hoo's There?

Today's challenge was two-fold. I wanted to play along with CAS(E) This Sketch's challenge and I wanted to use some of my Holiday Catalog preorder goodies.

CTS_236.jpg

I pulled out one of two new stamps from the Holiday Catalog and started figuring out which image to choose. I settled on the Owl Stamp from the Spooky Cat set. After stamped and fussy cutting the owl, I chose a simple sentiment (with a great font). The hardest part of this card was picking patterned paper I wanted to use. The Spooky Night DSP pack has such great patterns. I chose a more subdued pattern for my background and choose the busy words as my focal point. Such a simple card, but so cute!

Have a Cup

Today's card features one of my favorite new stamp sets: Coffee Cafe. I love coffee so of course i had to buy this bundle! For this card I decided to layer on a ton of pieces (DSP, washi tape, die cut cups, background layers) until I created a fun layered card. I dug through my washi tape stash to find something that would match the colors in the DSP pieces. Thankfully I had some retired Moroccan Washi Tape and some Gold Glitter Washi Tape. I think they add just enough interest to this crazy card.

  • Stamps: Coffee Cafe
  • Inks: Early Espresso
  • Cardstock: Coffee Break DSP; Garden Green; Soft Sky; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Moroccan Washi Tape (retired); Gold Glitter Washi Tape (retired)
  • Tools: Coffee Cups Framelits; Lots of Labels Framelits

July Memory Planner Pages

For July's pages, I relied less on a specific monthly color and on a lot of washi tape I just went with whatever tickled my fancy for that page. I tried to write a bit more than usual.

A Touch of Ribbon

I bought the gorgeous Night of Navy Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon weeks ago and it has just say on my desk. How have I not used this yet? The ribbon is just so great to work with. It's thin and easy to tie into a ribbon. But it also looks great as just a strip on a card. After deciding on using the ribbon on some card, I started pulling ink colors and DSP to coordinate. I ended up with two jars full of flowers. I love all the patterns and textures of this card. So cute!

  • Stamps: Jar of Love
  • Inks: Early Espresso; Dapper Denim; Soft Sky; Daffodil Delight; Crushed Curry; Flirty Flamingo; Watermelon Wonder; Pear Pizzazz
  • Cardstock: Whole Lot of Lovely DSP; Wood Textures DSP; Soft Sky; Crumb Cake; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Night of Navy Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon
  • Tools: Stitched Shapes Framelits; Everyday Jars Framelits; Seaside Embossing Folder

Listening: Lots of podcasts, but specifically enjoying Pod Save America this week.

Making: Registered for 30 Days of Lists in September, so I'm busy pulling my Project Life cards to decorate and use. I've pulled the cards, now on tot he decorating.

Feeling: Started getting sick this weekend. Now I have a full blown cold.

Planning: Fall Bingo Party is coming quickly! I need to finish putting the final touches on the make n takes and prize bundles.

Loving: It's Bout of Books 20! And I'm sick, so not really running out for activities. It's the perfect week to read a ton and thankfully I've picked some good books.

Bokeh Butterfly

Today's challenge was to revisit a technique in preparation for August stamp club (was August 19). I hadn't revisited the bokeh technique for awhile, so I decided to focus on that. I also haven't featured it at stamp club for at least a year... For this card, I sponged on my colored ink to a piece of Whisper White. I then die cut a acetate overlay with multiple different sized circles. I then sponged on white craft ink using the die cut piece as a mask. I blended the white to create varying degrees of opacity. After letting that piece dry, I added the rest of the elements of the card.

  • Stamps: Birthday Blooms
  • Inks: Fresh Fig, Pool Party, Old Olive, White Craft Ink
  • Cardstock: Fresh Fig, Pool Party, Silver Foil, Whisper White
  • Accessories: Pool Party Ribbon (retired)
  • Tools: Bold Butterfly Thinlits

Sympathy with Daisy

I don't like to make sympathy cards, but sometimes they are needed. Today's card features the gorgeous Delightful Daisy DSP as the main focal point. I let the DSP patterns stand by themselves. I added a strip of copper foil paper to tie into the copper heat embossed sentiment.

Detail of heat embossing:

  • Stamps: Better Together
  • Inks: Basic Versamark
  • Cardstock: Delightful Daisy DSP; Copper Foil; Tip Top Taupe (retired); Old Olive
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Copper Embossing Powder
