Hello Babies!

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using punches. I pulled out two punches that I haven't used in awhile: Petite Petals and Hexagon Punch!

Two of my friends are having babies in the next couple of months and I always make baby cards for their sprinkles. One is having a girl (hence the pink card) and the other is not finding out until the birth (hence the gender neutral card). I love the play of pattern, color, and shape on these cards. Fairly simple, but the layers make the card. And my favorite part hands down is the strip of Metallic Glitter Tape (silver) and Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper. That little bit of sparkly just finishes the card for me!

  • Stamps: Petite Pairs; Six Sided Sampler
  • Inks: Crumb Cake; Blushing Bride; Basic Gray; Daffodil Delight
  • Cardstock: Neutrals DSP; Blushing Bride; So Saffron; Whisper White; Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper
  • Accessories: Candy Dots; Metallic Glitter Tape (silver)
  • Tools: Hexagon Punch; Petite Petals Punch

Hexagons and Butterflies

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to CASE the catalog. I scoured the pages for inspiration. What should I do? I narrowed the list down to 10 different cards, then down to 5, then to 3. From the last three contenders I decided to go with a card that caught my eye, but isn't my usual style. I've been trying to stretch my crafting into areas and designs that I are not my go-tos. The card below definitely falls into that category.

Taking the card from the catalog I started to recreate the look.  Obviously I made a few changes to the card. First of all, I added a layer of Very Vanilla and changed the colors. I love Wisteria Wonder but don't use it very often. So I went with Wisteria Wonder, my new favorite color Mint Macaron, and a great neutral in Tip Top Taupe. From there, I wanted to tackle the background splatters. How to recreate it? Simple solution: use my Tip Top Taupe marker to "dot" the card. Using both ends of the marker, I created varied spots. It looks even better in person! I stamped and punched my hexagons and arranged them onto the base and then added a sentiment. Finally I cut out my butterfly (way easier than the large butterfly framelit) and finished the card with a pearl.

  • Stamps: Six Sided Sampler
  • Inks: Wisteria Wonder; Mint Macaron; Tip Top Taupe
  • Cardstock: Wisteria Wonder; Very Vanilla
  • Accessories: Pearls
  • Tools: Bold Butterfly Framelits; Hexagon Punch

Hexagons and Embossing Folders

Today's card is being featured on Stylin' Stampin' Inkspiration and uses many embossing folders. Our project today was to use one of SU's embossing folders, but I couldn't decide which one to use. Instead, I decided to use four different ones. The look is full of texture and layers. I love it!

  • Inks: Tip Top Taupe, Cucumber Crush
  • Cardstock: Sahara Sand, Cucumber Crush
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Hexagon Punch, Chevron Embossing Folder, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, Hexagon Embossing Folder, Lucky Stars Embossing Folder

October Month of Cards Week 3

For October's big crafting goal, I am attempting to make a different designed card everyday.  Instead of flooding everyone's feed with tons of posts, I am just going to do a weekly wrap-up post with my cards.

Day #13

I loved the look of monochromatic yet differently patterned papers mixing together.  The hexagon shapers add more visual interest to this card.

  • Stamps: Six Sided Sampler
  • Inks: Mossy Meadow
  • Cardstock: Mossy Meadow; tons of green scraps
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Hexagon Punch

Day #14

Trying to use more of my giant scrap collection.  I only had to cut this pattern paper pieces down a bit to fit on the card.  Not quite happy with the gaps, but I'll deal with it.

  • Stamps: Petite Pairs
  • Inks: Mossy Meadow
  • Cardstock: Mossy Meadow; random green scraps
  • Accessories:
  • Tools:

Day #15

A fun layered rainbow of mosaic shapes.  I love the big washi tape on this card.

  • Stamps: A Word for You
  • Inks: Rich Razzleberry
  • Cardstock: Kraft; Whisper White; random scraps
  • Accessories: Gold Chevron Washi Tape (not SU)
  • Tools: Mosaic Punch

Day #16

I decided to dive into my scraps again to make a fun birthday cake card. The scraps looked a little plain until I added the gold glitter tape. Very sparkly in person.

  • Stamps: Sweet Essentials; Petite Pairs
  • Inks: Melon Mambo
  • Cardstock: Melon Mambo; Whisper White; random scraps
  • Accessories: Gold Glitter Tape (not SU)

In Color Lullaby Cards

I pulled out my lullaby paper was determined to make something fun from it...  Enter the Six Sided Sampler stamp set.  I adore this set, but usually gravitate to floral or butterfly stamps.  After looking at Pinterest for awhile, I found this gorgeous design and decided to use the basics to make my own card.  I loved the design so much, I made two cards using different color palettes.

Gingham Garden DSP Purge

I made up my mind to use the very last of my Gingham Garden DSP.  I had about two half sheets remaining.  Of course i had to scour my Pinterest boards for some great inspiration.  In total, I made six cards with just a few scraps leftover. Card #1

Card Inspiration from AE Stamps a Latte

My version

i flipped this card on the side because my paper cuts did not line up vertically.  I may be a bit obsessive, but the Gingham Garden pattern just didn't look right turned the other way.  I also realized that I was out of Island Indigo card stock, so I substituted Island Indigo DSP.  Beyond that I tried to use my current supplies to give the card it's own look.  My favorite part is the candy dots on the hexagons (they pop more in real life).  I've had the Brights pack for awhile now and had yet to use it.  I may have a supply hoarding problem.  I love how they add just a little bit more dimension to the card.

  • Stamps: Six Sided Sampler
  • Inks: Island Indigo, So Saffron
  • Cardstock: Daffodil Delight; Gingham Garden DSP (retired); Brights Collection DSP; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Brights Collection Candy Dots
  • Tools: Hexagon Punch; Scallop Punch

Card #2

Card Inspiration from Too Cool Stamping

My version

I kept the basic design with just a few tweaks, mainly due to my own stash limitations.  I realized that I need to had Melon Mambo to my ink pads to buy list.  I am really warming up to that color.

  • Stamps: Sweet Essentials (retired); Morning Meadow (retired)
  • Inks: Regal Rose (retired)
  • Cardstock: Melon Mambo; Whisper White; Gingham Garden DSP (retired)
  • Accessories: Rhinestone Jewels
  • Tools: Hexagon Punch (banner ends); Pansy Punch

Card #3

Card Inspiration from Stamp with Amy K

My version

I think this is my favorite card of the set.  I was going to make this a fall sentiment card, but after finishing it, I thought sympathy or get well card.  It is so cool and calm.  And I love all the layers.  I changed up the color combo slightly from the example.  Amy had Garden Green and Pear Pizzazz.  I went with Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz.  It gives just a bit of a softer look.

  • Stamps: Magnificent Maple (retired); Sweet Essentials (retired)
  • Inks: Old Olive
  • Cardstock: Old Olive; Pear Pizzaz; Gingham Garden DSP (retired)
  • Accessories: Brights Collection Candy Dots
  • Tools:

Card #4

Card Inspiration from Nutz About Stamping

My version

I had used up all the Island Indigo gingham check paper, I decided to do a bit of substitution for this card.  With that change, I swapped out a ton of other pieces to create my own card.

  • Stamps: A Word for You (retired)
  • Inks: Island Indigo
  • Cardstock: Daffodil Delight; Whisper White; Brights Collection DSP
  • Accessories: Brights Collection Candy Dots
  • Tools: 2" Circle Punch; Pansy Punch; Hexagon Punch (banner ends)

Card #5

This card came from my desire to use a ton of the scraps laying on my craft table.  I love how bright and cheery this card is.  I think the Melon Mambo really pops!

  • Stamps: A Word for You (retired)
  • Inks: Island Indigo
  • Cardstock: Melon Mambo; Gingham Garden DSP (retired); Brights Collection DSP
  • Accessories: Brights Collection Candy Dots
  • Tools: Hexagon Punch (banner ends); Pansy Punch

Card #6

This card is so simple, but I love the mix of patterned paper.  As a late edition, I found an old Brights Collection Button Pack at the bottom of my embellishment box and had to add.

  • Stamps: Sweet Essentials (retired); Morning Meadow (retired)
  • Inks: Old Olive
  • Cardstock: Old Olive; Pear Pizzazz; Gingham Garden DSP (retired)
  • Accessories: Brights Collection Button (retired edition)
  • Tools: Pansy Punch

Fun 'n Crafty Blog Hop June 2014

Welcome to the Fun n' Crafty Blog Hop for June! This is our first of our monthly blog hops and I hope you enjoy all the inspiration. This month we will be showcasing project ideas from the NEW Stampin' Up annual catalog. So make sure to check out the list of stops on the hop at the bottom of this post to see them all!

As I flipped through the catalog, I had the hardest time deciding what to showcase...  After the longest deliberation I ended making two cards.  I'm very proud of myself for narrowing down my choices to only two.

Card #1

My first is based off of the card on page 145 of the 2014-2015 annual catalog. What really caught my eye was the fun pattern.  I bought the Six Sided Sampler Stamp Set a few months back, but haven't used it much.  After making this card, I need to break it out more often.  My favorite part is definitely my silver glimmer paper.  I hoard this but forced myself to actually use it...  Love how it turned out.

Card #2

My second is based off of the card on page 67.  While I kept the design basically the same for my card, I changed a lot for this card.  Most of my changes stemmed from not having certain products.  I don't have Coastal Cabana enamel dots, so I went with the dot stamp from the Work of Art set.  I don't have the Dictionary Stamp for the background paper, so I used some In Color DSP instead.  Even with all the changes, the card is very similar to the one in the catalog.  And my version is much more "me."  Just a note, I free handed the wavy sides of the banner and the piece of Coastal Cabana DSP.
