Fun n' Crafty Blog Hop July 2018

FNC Blog Hop.jpg

Welcome to the Fun n’ Crafty Blog Hop for June. This month's blog hop is actually a swap. Various members of the Fun and Crafty Stampers made cards featuring new products from the Annual Catalog and swapped them in the mail. Such amazing cards! I love doing swaps and getting examples using products that I don't have or don't necessarily intend to buy.

For my card, I wanted to feature my newest stamp set, Pop of Petals. I love a good floral image and this one is too cute! The set comes with multiple differently patterned flowers, but I just used one pattern for my card. I picked a few fun colors and coordinated them with a lighter or darker color. From there, I thought the flowers looked a little too plain so I added a background piece of stamped leaves. Much better! I finished the card off with a piece of Wood Texture DSP, a simple sentiment, and some fun Glitter Enamel Dots.

    A Card for Mom

Today'’s card theme is Mother's Day. When I think of Mother's Day, I always think of flowers. Of course I had to use my favorite floral stamp set, Birthday Blooms, to create this card! I did something a little different in coloring only the layered piece. And no flower is complete without a bumblebee! Overall, I'm really digging the style of this card.

    • Stamps: Birthday Blooms
    • Inks: Chocolate Chip; Wisteria Wonder; Elegant Eggplant; Delightful Dijon; Pear Pizzazz

Fun n' Crafty Blog Hop February 2017

Welcome to the Fun n’ Crafty Blog Hop for February. This month's theme is watercolor. For my card, I kept the design and embellishments simple to focus on the watercolor pencils. I love love love this product and am so excited that they are back in stock after a temporary outage. The pencils are so versatile. You can simply color an image or apply a bit of water and create an amazing watercolor effect. For my card, I colored in some jars using two different colored pencils to create a fun paint jar look. The color combos are: Calypso Coral and Read Red, Pool Party and Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry, and Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie. I then die cut the jar and trimmed a bit off the edges. I stamped the jars onto a piece of Whisper White and then glued the die cut jars onto the stamped images. I used a similar effect on this Jar of Love card. I also added a stamped and die cut lid for each of my jars. For my sentiment I stamped is with a two tone effect. I kept the background simple with a layer of silver foil paper on top of a Basic Gray card base. It's hard to tell in the first photo, but I did add a bit of sparkle with some clear Wink of Stella in jar.

Detail of the Wink of Stella.

    • Stamps: Jar of Love; Suite Sayings
    • Inks: Basic Gray; Smoky Slate; Melon Mambo; Rich Razzleberry
    • Cardstock: Basic Gray; Silver Foil Paper; Whisper White; Smoky Slate

Fun n' Crafty Blog Hop June 2015

    IMG_0851

Welcome to the Fun n’ Crafty Blog Hop for June. This month's theme is new products. Each stop on the hop is highlighting some of the great new products in the 2015-2016 catalog. I'm still warming up the new in colors, but I've found that making cards using various combos of the colors always helps. This card can be made with any combo, but I choose to use Tip Top Taupe, Mint Macaron, Delightful Dijon, and Watermelon Wonder. We are making this card for June stamp club. I'm hoping the ladies decide to use some different color combos on their cards. If you look closely, you'll notice that the sentiment stamp has a bit of texture to it. No, the stamp's not actually like that. I used the kissing technique to achieve the look. Ink up the sentiment stamp in Watermelon Wonder. "Kiss" the inked stamp to a pattern stamp (in this case the floral pattern) and stamp. You're left with a great bit of faux texture. I love the look!

    • Stamps: I Think You're Great
    • Inks: Delightful Dijon; Watermelon Wonder; Mint Macaron
    • Cardstock: Mint Macaron; Cherry on Top DSP
    • Accessories: Gold Sequin Trim
    • Tools: Circles Framelits; Circles Mask

Fun n' Crafty Blog Hop: Easter Edition

Welcome to the Fun n’ Crafty Blog Hop for April. Oh wait! It's not April yet. But we wanted to make sure you could take advantage of the last week of Sale-a-Bration and get your Easter cards in order early. So this "month's" blog hop will be featuring awesome Easter cards. And I bet most of them will be using items from Sale-a-Bration and/or the Occasions catalog.

I decided on a super colorful card to celebrate Easter. I love this polka dot pattern from the Painted Blooms DSP pack, but couldn't find the right card to use it. I originally was going to make eggs, but realized that I just didn't want to cut all those. Instead, I went with the polka dots as a fun and colorful background focus. I added in the stamped sentiment using my Sophisticated Serifs set. The card was looking a bit plain, so I went a little crazy adding lots of flowers. I took cues from the colors in the DSP, but didn't match them exactly. Instead, I picked colors that feel like spring. I love this super simple but fun card.

This week is your last chance to earn free Sale-a-Bration products. Would you like your own free product? Just spend $50 in the annual and/or Occasions catalog and pick one free SAB item. Here's some help:

    • Sophisticated Serifs Stamp Set  $45.95 137161

    • Total $56.90

Fun n' Crafty Blog Hop March 2015

Welcome to the Fun n’ Crafty Blog Hop for March. This month we are all about birthdays. I love designed birthday cards as you can be as crazy or as subdued as you want to be! My card is very simple (just three layers), but packs a large color punch. I've been enjoying coloring lately and had to showcase the technique.

I started with a simple yet bold sentiment in the middle of my white piece. From there I stamped the birthday cake in random spots. I then filled in the empty spaces with the star stamp (from Perfect Pennants). I adhered the stamped piece to a layer of Back to Black DSP. Then came the fun part -- coloring! I picked a few bright markers from my stash and went to town coloring different bits of the birthday cake. After finishing, I realized that while the small hexagon pattern on the DSP was fun, it was too boring in black and white. I colored that as well in a rainbow pattern. Now the card is complete! With all the bright colors and bold images this card would be perfect for a teen birthday.

Do you want the birthday cake stamp? Well it's a part of the Big Day stamp set that's only available as a SAB reward. Through March 31st, spend $50 from any catalog and you get to pick on SAB item for free! It's Stampin' Up's best deal of the year. Fun 'n Crafty Blog Hop February 2015

Welcome to the Fun n’ Crafty Blog Hop for February.  The blog hop has been on hiatus for the holidays, but we're back this month to share some great cards. February we will be showcasing project ideas with a Love theme.

I took the Love theme very literally and decide to make my own background paper using "Love" from Snuggles and Smooches. I wanted a good Valentine's themed stamp set, but wasn't sold on You Plus Me from the Occasions catalog. But I love Snuggles and Smooches. It is so adorable. I also used the random squiggle to add more dimension to my homemade background paper. Some nice DSP from the Stacked with Love DSP stack, washi tape,  and punched out hearts add those little extra touches.

    Full product list:

    • Stamps: Snuggles and Smooches
    • Inks: Calypso Coral; Real Red; Crisp Cantaloupe; Basic Black
    • Cardstock: Real Red; Stack with Love DSP; Whisper White
    • Accessories: Stacked with Love wash tape
    • Tools: 2 in circle punch; mini heart punch

Fun 'n Crafty Blog Hop October 2014

Welcome to the Fun n’ Crafty Blog Hop for October. This month we will be showcasing project ideas from Stampin' Up's card kits. I haven't bought many of their kits, but I must say that the ones I have seen just keep getting better and better.  I've now subscribed to Paper Pumpkin and am impressed.  But for today's hop, I am highlighting cards that I've made from the Everyday Occasions catalog.  The demos who attended the Unite and Excite events got the kit for free.  However, now that I've seen it, I'm definitely recommending it to all my customers.  Just check out all these beauties:

The leftovers!  I still have enough parts to make at least three more cards.  And look at all those dimensionals... they will be used soon enough.

Fun 'n Crafty Blog Hop September 2014

Welcome to the Fun n’ Crafty Blog Hop for September This month we will be showcasing project ideas from the new Holiday Catalog. Last year's holiday catalog did not impress me.  The company has more than made up for it with this year's catalog.  I want all the things! After a bit of play, I finally decided on using my new Christmas tree punch. And I absolutely love how it turned out. So make sure to check out the list of stops on the hop at the bottom of this post to see them all!

This card is all about my new holiday catalog supplies.  I found a cute idea of creating a shaker card behind a punched image and knew i wanted to use my new Tree punch.  After a bit of trial and error (forgot to add another layer of plastic to contain the sequins), I successfully made a shaker card!  Adding a bit of bling with some silver glimmer helped complete the sentiment and the card.  If I can find a way to make the shaker pocket faster, this would be a great fun Christmas card to send to family.  Might have to play a bit more.  But overall, I adore my new holiday catalog products and can't wait to experiment some more.

    Supplies Used:

    • Stamps: Festival of Trees
    • Inks: Garden Green
    • Cardstock: Garden Green; Pistachio Pudding; Whisper White; Silver Glimmer Paper; Trim the Tree DSP
