#6 Green and Gold

Today's sketch comes from May 2016:

Here's what I originally did:

I went simple and stayed within the green family. I found some leftover scraps from the old Trim the Tree DSP pack and pulled all the green pieces. From there, I narrowed down my choices until I ended with these coordinating pieces. I added a fun layered sentiment. I realized that the card looked a bit plain, so I swapped out a piece of DSP for some gold foil to give some great shine. For a finishing touch, I added a punched gold snowflake.

A Red and Green Christmas

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a red and green card. This year I decided on various shades of red and green for my Christmas cards. For this card, I wanted to feature the Merry Moments DSP pack. I love the big polka dot print.

30 Days of Christmas Cards Day 30

For the last day of 30 Days of Christmas Cards, I went a bit crazy with my gold embossing powder. I actually embossed about 10 different images. I'll be using those on other cards or in my December Daily.

Today's card features one of my favorite retired SU stamps: Star Tree. I love the simplicity of this stamp. And yet, I always forget I own it until I start digging in my Christmas supply box As this embossed image is so striking in person, I decided to do a simple pattern paper background and some layering cardstock. The card was still missing something. Thankfully I finally found my misplaced Home for Christmas Enamel Dots. Perfect finish!

Here's a nicer shot for the embossed tree.

30 Days of Christmas Cards Day 28

Today's card is actually a trio of cards. After almost a month of making cards, I have a ton of scraps laying around the desk. I hate to throw them away, but what to make with them? Of course, a banner card! I jazzed this one up a bit by embossing the vanilla piece and adding a simple sentiment on the bottom. The inside includes a little Christmas quote.

30 Days of Christmas Cards Day 22

Today's set of cards was an easy way to use up scraps and random retired papers. Plus I wanted to use my new Cup of Cheer stamp set. I love that you can color the letters to customize the stamp.

Here's the whole set:

  • Stamps: Cup of Cheer
  • Inks: Garden Green; Real Red; Old Olive; Riding Hood Red; Gumball Green (retired); Chocolate Chip
  • Cardstock: Trim the Tree DSP (retired); Cherry Cobbler; Whisper White; random papers; Festival of Prints DSP (retired); Very Vanilla

30 Days of Christmas Cards Day 18

Today's card looks really cool, but was such a pain to make! I ended up making four of these cards (like I've done with all of the 30 Days cards), but seriously thought about scrapping it about 1/3 of the way through. Each card has 16 punched out shapes! Imagine having to keep track of all those shapes and make sure you get the right numbers of the right shapes and paper patterns. Yeah! It was a chore. But somehow I finished four of these cards. I really do like the look. Veyr cute and inventive.

30 Days of Christmas Cards Day 8

I bought these Christmas tags last year from the clearance rack and promptly forgot about them in the Christmas supply box. Thank goodness I rediscovered them! These are perfect use as layering pieces on greeting cards. I added some other DSP and afew punched circles. As final touches, I added some washi tape and my favorite accessory: candy dots!

  • Stamps: Retired SU sentiment; random starburst stamp
  • Inks: Real Red; Calypso Coral
  • Cardstock: Snow Festival Tags (retired); Nordic Noel DSP (retired); Trim the Tree DSP (retired); Cucumber Crush; Real Red; Kraft

30 Days of Christmas Cards Day 7

A fun tree-filled card for today. (Yeah I'm still using the Festival of Trees stamp set!) I stacked a few trees to one side and a large sentiment on the right side. This really is one of my favorite cards that I've made this month. Country is not a style that I gravitate towards, but I'm loving it for this card!

A couple of variations for the stack.

  • Stamps: Six Sayings; Festival of Trees
  • Inks: Mossy Meadow; Old Olive; Cherry Cobbler; Pear Pizzaz
  • Cardstock: Trim the Tree DSP (retired); Cherry Cobbler; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Doilies
  • Tools: Tree Punch; Star Punch
