Splatter Technique

Today's card was our April stamp club technique card. I choose the splatter technique to try out. Basically you drop some ink onto the paper and blow it out using a straw. I experimented a few times with different inks and techniques. The best inks to use were bright colors instead of dark colors. As for technique, I found that blowing one drop at a time was better than trying to do a bigger blob of ink. I can't wait to see what the stamp club ladies create tomorrow night.

SSINKIC32: Cups in a Row

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card based off the of the image below.

So my card went a little off the mark this time. I started out with the idea of adding some map paper on my card. But then I wasn't inspired by the map paper. So I turned to the swirled designs and started putting pieces together. In the end, I cup out three coffee cups and layered them onto more DSP and an embossed piece of cardstock. Sometimes you have every intention of following a sketch, picture, or formula, but the end result is something completely different. At least I still like the card I made!

  • Stamps: Another Thank You
  • Inks: Basic Black
  • Cardstock: Going Places DSP; Lost Lagoon; Sahara Sand
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Stripes Embossing Folder; Cups and Kettle Framelits

Sunday Haul #8

Eeek!!! Guess what came this week? My Ali Edwards Week in the Life kit! I'm so excited to prep my album and dive in during May. Plus, I'm loving the vibrant color palette of this year's kit. Already thinking about what I want to do this year. I may move my WITL to the week of May 16th instead of the week of May 9th.

Watercolor Sunburst

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card CASE-ing the catalog. I chose to CASE the awesome watercolor sunburst card:

For my card, I changed up the colors and accessories, but I kept most of the card the same. I also drew on my sunburst in a coordinating color. I tried a few different watercolor patterns and this was the one I liked the best. I liked the dark blue right behind the sentiment. Overall I am loving this card design. I may have to make a few more in different colors...

  • Stamps: Sunburst Sayings
  • Inks: Bermuda Bay Reinker; Midnight Muse Reinker (retired); Pear Pizzaz Reinker; Island Indigo; Tempting Turquoise Marker
  • Cardstock: Bermuda Bay; Watercolor Paper
  • Accessories: Metallic Sequins

Washi Tape Holder

The perfect 3D project for this month's stamp club. I loved making this simple yet usable washi tape holder. Now I want to make a ton to hold all my washi, but I might just settle for a few to hold the current SU washi sets. The project may look complicated, but it's really very simple. The cuts and scores are as follows:

5 Tape Holder

Cardstock – 11 x 6-5/8″

Score on the LONG side at 1, 3, 5-1/2, 8, 10″

Score on the SHORT side at 2, 4-5/8″

3 Tape Holder

Cardstock – 11 x 5-5/8″

Score on the LONG side at 1, 3, 5-1/2, 8, 10″

Score on the SHORT side at 2, 3-5/8″

From there, you fold from the outside in to make the basic box. Cut diagonally to create the opening on either side of the box. To finish, add washi tape around the edge to hold the two flaps together.

  • Stamps: Timeless Textures
  • Inks: Melon Mambo
  • Cardstock: Whisper White
  • Accessories: It's My Party Washi Tape

Wildflower Triptych

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using our wonderful markers! My collection of SU markers (current and retired colors) is one of my go-to supplies while making a card. I decided to make another simple card with some fun coloring. I took a piece of white cardstock, stamped my images, colored them, and then cut the piece into three equal pieces. From there, I adhered the pieces on dimensionals and placed then slightly apart from each other. This creates a nice triptych effect. Add a great sentiment from Happy Happenings and the card is finished!

  • Stamps: Flowering Fields; Happy Happening
  • Inks: Basic Black; Hello Honey; Blackberry Bliss; Old Olive; Lost Lagoon
  • Cardstock: Perfect Plum; Whisper White

Layered Sunburst

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using candy dots. Candy dots are hands down my favorite Stampin' Up embellishment. I use them all the time. For this card, I focused on creating a multiple layered card featuring dots. I could then add on candy dots in coordinating colors to finish off the effect. In fact, I loved this card so much that I choose it as one of the March stamp club cards.

  • Stamps: Sunburst Sayings
  • Inks: Pacific Point
  • Cardstock: Schoolhouse DSP; Pool Party; Daffodil Delight
  • Accessories: Candy Dots
  • Tools: Sunburst Thinlit; Circle Punch; Scallop Punch; Decorative Dots Embossing Folder

Tea Kettle of Sequins

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using an Occasions Catalog Bundle. I chose A Nice Cuppa Bundle featuring A Nice Cuppa Stamp Set and Cups and Kettle Framelits. I pulled out the Pretty Petals DSP from the annual catalog and went about picking two similar but different pieces. The hardest part of this card was layering the Calypso Coral die cut circle, window sheet, and Very Vanilla Circle together to create my sequins pocket. Took a bit of patience, but it turned out well!

  • Stamps: A Nice Cuppa
  • Inks: Mossy Meadow
  • Cardstock: Pretty Petals DSP; Calypso Coral; Very Vanilla; Pear Pizzaz
  • Accessories: Metallic Sequins
  • Tools: Cups and Kettle Framelits; Circles Framelits; Hexagon Punch
