October Month of Cards Week 2

For October's big crafting goal, I am attempting to make a different designed card everyday.  Instead of flooding everyone's feed with tons of posts, I am just going to do a weekly wrap-up post with my cards.  Apparently this week was all about Halloween and Thanksgiving cards.  Next week I'm going to break out into non-holiday cards.

Day #6

  • Stamps: Fall Fest; random Michael's stamp
  • Inks: White Craft Ink; Tangerine Tango
  • Cardstock: Black; Tangerine Tango; Crushed Curry; Motley Monsters DSP; Frightful Night DSP (retired)
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Circles Framelits

Day #7

A simple negative image to make a fun 3D ghost.

  • Stamps: September Paper Pumpkin (bats); Fall Fest (face)
  • Inks: Basic Black; Tangerine Tango
  • Cardstock: Whisper White; Basic Black; Crushed Curry; Motley Monsters DSP
  • Accessories: Black and white twine (non-SU)

October 2014 Paper Pumpkin

I'll admit it, I hadn't joined Paper Pumpkin because I thought it wasn't a good deal.  After hearing more and more good things about the quality and quantity of products, I finally joined last month during the 1/2 off sale.  While SU had some delivery delays due to certain overseas supply delays, I received my project last week.  And boy was I pleasantly surprised!

The kit is a fun Halloween set of burlap bags and tags.  I immediately went to town stamping and embellishing my tags.  What surprised me was the quantity of embellishments.  Realistically, you can only put 2-3 stickers on each tag, but I received 2 sheets of stickers.  Even after I finished, I still have an entire sheet left for other projects!  Plus, the stamp set comes with the same images as the stickers.  I didn't even use those stamps yet.  I started to put the bags together, but realized that I want to save them for the fall social.  I have an idea to use them for parent goody bags of candy.  Now I need to look at our number of RSVPs and possibly buy a refill kit.

Overall, I am really impressed with the new and improved Paper Pumpkin.  I have already bought next months kit, but I imagine that I will continue my subscription after that.

If you want to get in on the fun, please visit Paper Pumpkin to sign up.

Fall Cards in May: Sunburst Halloween

I wanted something a little different for the Halloween set.  I love the Frightful Sight DSP (sadly retired) and wanted to use as many of the patterns as possible.  Enter the sample and tutorial from Welcome to Stampin' Sue:

My Interpretation: Taking Sue's idea, cut a ton of DSP and went to work creating my own sunburst image.

Basic Tutorial:

  • Cut a piece of scrap cardstock to 3 1/2" x 3 3/4"
  • Cut strips of DSP to 1 1/2"x 3 3/4"
  • Cut those strip diagonally
  • Mark your scrap cardstock piece at the middle
  • Use the mark as a center for the pointed ends of the DSP
  • Adhere and trim off excess
  • Use excess to fill in the end spots of the sunburst
  • Cover the straggly ends with a ribbon, washi tape, or piece of cardstock (I chose cardstock)

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Wacky Wishes (retired)
  • Cardstock: Frightfull Sight DSP (retired)

Archives: Cards #24

Originally published on August 11th, 2013

I finally made it to one of our Meetup group's crop nights.  I've been trying for almost two months.  And it was so much fun!  We got together to work on our own projects with some great ladies.  We even got to create a make and take Halloween card.  Very adorable!  The card used SU's Pumpkin Pie ink that I've been contemplating buying for Arthur's thank you and arrival cards.  After using it, I am convinced that it's the perfect color.  Now I have to revise my stamp club order.

These are the other cards I created on Wednesday night.  The first two are my stamp club homework.  I flipped the sketch for the second card.  I really love how it turned out.

The other three cards are just some fun cards I whipped up using scraps from my giant scrap box.  I think the polka dots one is my favorite.  It's clean and simple, but oh so pretty!
