Gingham Garden DSP Purge

I made up my mind to use the very last of my Gingham Garden DSP.  I had about two half sheets remaining.  Of course i had to scour my Pinterest boards for some great inspiration.  In total, I made six cards with just a few scraps leftover. Card #1

Card Inspiration from AE Stamps a Latte

My version

i flipped this card on the side because my paper cuts did not line up vertically.  I may be a bit obsessive, but the Gingham Garden pattern just didn't look right turned the other way.  I also realized that I was out of Island Indigo card stock, so I substituted Island Indigo DSP.  Beyond that I tried to use my current supplies to give the card it's own look.  My favorite part is the candy dots on the hexagons (they pop more in real life).  I've had the Brights pack for awhile now and had yet to use it.  I may have a supply hoarding problem.  I love how they add just a little bit more dimension to the card.

  • Stamps: Six Sided Sampler
  • Inks: Island Indigo, So Saffron
  • Cardstock: Daffodil Delight; Gingham Garden DSP (retired); Brights Collection DSP; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Brights Collection Candy Dots
  • Tools: Hexagon Punch; Scallop Punch

Card #2

Card Inspiration from Too Cool Stamping

My version

I kept the basic design with just a few tweaks, mainly due to my own stash limitations.  I realized that I need to had Melon Mambo to my ink pads to buy list.  I am really warming up to that color.

  • Stamps: Sweet Essentials (retired); Morning Meadow (retired)
  • Inks: Regal Rose (retired)
  • Cardstock: Melon Mambo; Whisper White; Gingham Garden DSP (retired)
  • Accessories: Rhinestone Jewels
  • Tools: Hexagon Punch (banner ends); Pansy Punch

Card #3

Card Inspiration from Stamp with Amy K

My version

I think this is my favorite card of the set.  I was going to make this a fall sentiment card, but after finishing it, I thought sympathy or get well card.  It is so cool and calm.  And I love all the layers.  I changed up the color combo slightly from the example.  Amy had Garden Green and Pear Pizzazz.  I went with Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz.  It gives just a bit of a softer look.

  • Stamps: Magnificent Maple (retired); Sweet Essentials (retired)
  • Inks: Old Olive
  • Cardstock: Old Olive; Pear Pizzaz; Gingham Garden DSP (retired)
  • Accessories: Brights Collection Candy Dots
  • Tools:

Card #4

Card Inspiration from Nutz About Stamping

My version

I had used up all the Island Indigo gingham check paper, I decided to do a bit of substitution for this card.  With that change, I swapped out a ton of other pieces to create my own card.

  • Stamps: A Word for You (retired)
  • Inks: Island Indigo
  • Cardstock: Daffodil Delight; Whisper White; Brights Collection DSP
  • Accessories: Brights Collection Candy Dots
  • Tools: 2" Circle Punch; Pansy Punch; Hexagon Punch (banner ends)

Card #5

This card came from my desire to use a ton of the scraps laying on my craft table.  I love how bright and cheery this card is.  I think the Melon Mambo really pops!

  • Stamps: A Word for You (retired)
  • Inks: Island Indigo
  • Cardstock: Melon Mambo; Gingham Garden DSP (retired); Brights Collection DSP
  • Accessories: Brights Collection Candy Dots
  • Tools: Hexagon Punch (banner ends); Pansy Punch

Card #6

This card is so simple, but I love the mix of patterned paper.  As a late edition, I found an old Brights Collection Button Pack at the bottom of my embellishment box and had to add.

  • Stamps: Sweet Essentials (retired); Morning Meadow (retired)
  • Inks: Old Olive
  • Cardstock: Old Olive; Pear Pizzazz; Gingham Garden DSP (retired)
  • Accessories: Brights Collection Button (retired edition)
  • Tools: Pansy Punch

Monthly Page -- June

I'm starting a new monthly project.   I say these 6x6 month pages on another blog (can't remember where) and I thought it would be a cute little side project.  I pulled out some supplies and went to town. For June I went with bright summery colors.  I started with a 6x6 piece of textured white cardstock.  I then used a 6x6 paper pack for the square bases and postage stamp squares.  I then used my Recollections stamps to add the fun images.  The ink was all from my Stampin' Up stock.  I tried to get the closest to the paper that I could.  Lastly I popped up the month with dimensionals.  Very cute!  I thought about doing each monthly using the same paper pack, but I think I will be changing it up every month.

Sunday Haul #5

Another small week in terms of craft supply buying.  I placed my June Stamp Club order on Sunday and received it on Wednesday.

  • Champagne Glimmer Paper
  • 2013-2015 In Color Card Stock
  • Park Lane DSP
  • Winter Frost DSP Stack (clearance rack)

I also made a quick stop into Michaels on Friday.  I had wanted to get some snail, but all they had was removable.  I did take advantage of the 40% all Project Life products.  I grabbed a black 6x8 album, Animal theme pack, Nautical theme pack, Design 2, 3, and 4 page protectors, and replacement trimmer blades.

Finally I received my yellow, children's book, and PL card revamp swaps back.

I'm finalizing my big June order for submission either today or tomorrow.  I'm still deciding between a few new stamp sets.  And I definitely have to pick up some new accessories.  Plus, I'm buying the ink pad caddy to help organize all my stash.  It will be a large order.  Come back next Sunday to see what I got.

May Swap Card

My SU holds a monthly card swap.  We get the name of one of our fellow members and make a card for them.  When everyone receives their cards, we post to our FB group and show off the pretties!  May was my first month participating in the swap and of course I got our group leader.  I decided to attempt a card using the new stamp set: Work of Art.  I actually recieved the set free at the catalog premiere at the end of April but haven't done much with it until this card.  I think i was extremely scared of how abstract the set is.  Lots of undefined ink patches.  After a few duds, I finally settled on this design.  The colors are much more vibrant in person. Overall, I liked my attempt, but obviously need to use this set more.  And possibly scour Pinterest for more ideas.

  • Stamps: Work of Art
  • Inks: Basic Gray; Perfect Plum; Calypso Coral; Pistachio Pudding

Three Challenges Card

Today's card challenged me to incorporate three different aspects: color combination, sketch, and retiring products.  Actually the card was made for June's Stamp Club HW.  Our instructor challenged us to the color combination and I added the sketch and retiring products.

Card #1

Color combination

Retiring product

  • Eastern Elegance DSP
  • Express Yourself Stamp Set

My version

Description: I'm still on a mission to use my retired DSP in some great and creative ways.  When I started to make this card, I realized that I don't really have So Saffron, but my upline said we could use the closest.  So, I went with Crushed Curry as featured in the Eastern Elegance DSP.  The DSP also features Coastal Cabana instead of Pool Party, but in just the little bit that you see, it's not a big difference.  I kept the card base in Pool Party.  I then added some random stamping to the base to give some visual interest.  Simple card, but great use of color.

  • Stamps: Mosaic Madness; Express Yourself (retired)
  • Inks: Pool Party; Basic Gray
  • Cardstock: Eastern Elegance DSP (retired); Pool Party; Smoky Slate
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Hexagon Punch (banner ends)

Card #2

Color combination

Sketch

Retiring product

  • Eastern Elegance DSP
  • Express Yourself Stamp Set

My version

Description: My second card is again using the Pool Party, Smoky Slate, and Crushed Curry (instead of So Saffron) color combination.  I also aimed to again use my Eastern Elegance DSP.  But for this one, I added a Mojo Monday sketch.  I love how the circle patterns blended into each other.  However, I probably should have stuck to a Crushed Curry sentiment instead of adding the Pool Party.  Oh well...

  • Stamps: Express Yourself (retired)
  • Inks: Pool Party
  • Cardstock: Eastern Elegance DSP (retired); Pool Party; Smoky Slate
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: 2" Circle Punch; Hexagon Punch (banner ends)

Card #3

Color combination

Sketch

Retiring product:

  • Eastern Elegance DSP
  • Banner Greetings Stamp Set

My version

Description: I think this is my favorite of the three cards  I love the combination of patterns and colors.  I think this design really does balance itself out.

  • Stamps: Banner Greetings (retired)
  • Inks: Pool Party
  • Cardstock: Eastern Elegance DSP (retired); Smoky Slate; Pool Party
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Hexagon Punch (banner ends); 2" Circle Punch; 1 3/8" Circle Punch; 1 1/4" Circle Punch

Sunday Haul #4

A fairly slow week acquisition wise.  But I am saving up to making my big SU order next week.  Plus I need to save for my June Stamp Club order.  A quick trip to Michael's.  I picked up some snail (the real reason I was there), white card stock, cream card stock, and the PL Wedding Kit (future gift).

I also received the June Take Ten Kit.  I added on the sequins and enamel dots (for a great price!).  I can't wait to incorporate the fun accessories.  Some of the cards are pretty cute (blue one in particular), but I'm going to have to think about how to include some of them...

Quick Note Cards

Just a few quick note card sets for you today.  I've had this pack of blank note cards for about three years (yes, I may have a slight craft supply hoarding problem).  I decided to finally get rid of them.  The more I looked at them, the more I thought I could jazz them up a bit and possibly sell them. So, I took the blank note cards and envelopes and paired them with some Amy Tangerine cardstock (value pack from Michael's) and some die cuts from a My Mind's Eye pack (brought from peachycheap.com).  They are blank on the other side, perfect for writing a quick note to someone.
