My Years Reflection 1987

It's my 30th birthday year.  As part of my celebrations, I thought I would take my birthday month to reflect on my life.  To help, I am using some of my scrapbooked pages to illustrate my life.  For each year, I've chosen a few pages to highlight that year.  I hope you enjoy my look back as much as I do.

1987: I was five!  This is where my life really started (at least according to my memories).  We moved, I got a dog, I started kindergarten.  It was a great year!

Page 1:  My first trip to Disney World!  I loved every minute of it.  I especially liked meeting Cinderella. Let's face it, little girls love meeting the princesses.  We even had dinner in the castle.  For some reason the only pics I could find were of me and Cinderella and me on Dumbo.  Odd, I am sure there were more.  Oh well, you still get the idea.

Page 2: We built a house!  Of course it is decorated in 1980s chic.  Note the frilly red and white strawberry curtains in the kitchen.  Ugly!  But I loved that house.  It is the first one where I can recall the entire layout and decor.  I especially loved watching it being built as evidenced by my twirling in the frame.

Page 3: Excuse the blurry photography.  But notice the wondrous pink and white bedroom!  I loved that bedroom.  Later on, I even got my own desk to go to the right of the window.  I still have that quilt hanging on the wall.  If I'm not mistaken, my late great-grandma Helen (in pic above) made it for me.  The other highlight of the year was getting a dog: Milkdud.  Isn't he adorable?  In reality, he loved to bite and raise holy hell all over the house.

My Years Reflection 1986

It's my 30th birthday year.  As part of my celebrations, I thought I would take my birthday month to reflect on my life.  To help, I am using some of my scrapbooked pages to illustrate my life.  For each year, I've chosen a few pages to highlight that year.  I hope you enjoy my look back as much as I do.

1986:

So I was four, but I do have some memories from that year.  I remember living in the trailer with my best friend Kristina just down the street. I remember my babysitter was Kristina's mom.  I didn't go to preschool, but just child care.

Page 1: Notice the beautiful Strawberry Shortcake cake.  I loved watching that cartoon.  So much fun.  I wanted to be Strawberry Shortcake.  And the cake came from Scott Bakery.  We bought all of our birthday cakes from that same bakery all the way until I went to college.  Unfortunately, they are no longer in business. Their cake will be missed.

30 Years Ago Today...

  30 Years ago today....

I was pulled into this world by forceps screaming my little red face off.  It's my birthday day today!  How am I going to celebrate??  By going to work.  Yep that's right.  I get to work on my birthday.  But that's okay.  I plan on eating crap all day and not cooking or planning dinner tonight.  Later I must watch Logan's Run in all its beautiful cheesy glory.  Gotta go... my palm is flashing.

 Run, Runner, Run!

My Years Reflection 1985

It's my 30th birthday year.  As part of my celebrations, I thought I would take my birthday month to reflect on my life.  To help, I am using some of my scrapbooked pages to illustrate my life.  For each year, I've chosen a few pages to highlight that year.  I hope you enjoy my look back as much as I do.

1985:  Starting to remember bits and pieces of my life.  In general  I remember where I lived and who some of my friends were.  At 3 years old, we lived in a trailer park.  We lived there until I started Kindergarten.

Page 1:  I had my 3rd friend birthday party at Shobiz...  a precursor to Chucky Cheese.  It was awesome! Games, pizza, cake, and good friends.  And check out that birthday cake.  I was a Strawberry Shortcake fan.  I remember watching the cartoon on Saturday mornings.  I wanted to be Strawberry Shortcake.

Page 2:  That baby doll you see is Rachel Michelle.  I must have gotten her when I was one or two years old.  And I still have her.  Currently, she packed in a trunk with some other early years memorabilia.  As you can see, I took her everywhere, even sledding down hills bundled up.  Through the years, Rachel Michelle has endure a new wig and a new cloth body.  For the most part she's intact and still kicking it.

Page 3:  My maternal grandparents, Frances and Jerry moved to Jupiter, Florida.  After moving, we visited once a year until we moved to Florida (albeit the other side) when I was in fifth grade.  I have some great memories of visiting and soaking in the sun.  Everyone looks so young!

My Years Reflection 1984

It's my 30th birthday year.  As part of my celebrations, I thought I would take my birthday month to reflect on my life.  To help, I am using some of my scrapbooked pages to illustrate my life.  For each year, I've chosen a few pages to highlight that year.  I hope you enjoy my look back as much as I do.

1984:  Another year of no memories.  But I still love all these old pictures.  I was so adorable back then...

Page 1:  I think this is my favorite collection of pictures from my early life.  That bathing suit is a bit small, but it looks so cute of me.  And notice that I had blond slightly curly hair until I was about 3 years old.

Page 2:  I'm wearing a dress...  therefore it's Easter or Christmas.  And obviously it's Easter in these pictures.  Those are my great-grandparents celebrating with me.

My Years Reflection 1983

It's my 30th birthday year.  As part of my celebrations, I thought I would take my birthday month to reflect on my life.  To help, I am using some of my scrapbooked pages to illustrate my life.  For each year, I've chosen a few pages to highlight that year.  I hope you enjoy my look back as much as I do.

1983: I was 1.  Obviously I still don't remember anything.

Page 1:  All these pictures were taken right around my first birthday.  I love my official 1st year portrait.  I just look really tired and confused.  What's really amazing is that I'm wearing a dress...  Throughout most of my early years I was dressed as a boy.  The only times I ever wore a dress were for Easter and Christmas.  But look!  They put me in a dress for my birthday portrait.

My Years Reflection 1982

It's my 30th birthday year.  As part of my celebrations, I thought I would take my birthday month to reflect on my life.  To help, I am using some of my scrapbooked pages to illustrate my life.  For each year, I've chosen a few pages to highlight that year.  I hope you enjoy my look back as much as I do.

1982: I was born.  I don't remember that first year, obviously, but I've chosen a few pages that highlight my life.

Page 1: The cover for my scrapbooks.  I had to go with purple as my background paper; it's my favorite color of all time.  I found these cute die cuts to add to my name and birthdate.

Page 2: I continued with my purple theme throughout the early years scrapbook.  I had to include my just after being born picture.  Look at my all wrapped up in blankets, looking all cute.  When I was born, I was the fifth generation alive on my mom's side.  The newspaper came to the family's home to document the five generations.  There's me, my mother Rebecca, her father Jerry, his mother Helen, and her mother.  I never knew my great-great grandmother as she died when I was just a few months old.  I knew my great-grandmother Helen.  She eventually developed Alzheimer's and did when I was in middle school.

Page 3: Scenes from my first year of life.  One of my favorite pictures from my entire life is the one with the Cheerios box.  My grandma Joan was trying to enter me into a cutest baby contest sponsored by Cheerios.  I obviously didn't win, but I do so love that picture.  Unfortunately, I seem to have a really long head in the picture on the bottom left. Thankfully I grew into it.

2012 Blog Resolutions

I've thinking a lot lately about what I want my blog to be, look like, feel like. etc.  I've come up with some blogging resolutions for myself...

  1. Be better at planning for my reading -- This past year, I felt very rushed and out of sorts when it came to my reading.  Sometimes I had a list that I followed and other times I just grabbed things off shelves.  Because of the latter tactic, I didn't finish the reading challenges I signed up for and read a ton of books that didn't count for any challenge.  This year, I have made a monthly spreadsheet.  I am trying to space out my genres over the course of the year.  I decided to list ~20 books a month for the first six months.  I might read those 20 and I might not.  If not, the books will get pushed to the next month.  I imagine I will have to tinker with the list over the course of the year, but I hope it goes better than 2011.
  2. Participate in at least one readathon per quarter -- I did well with these in 2011, so I want to continue the trend.  I'm already committing myself to two readathons in January (Bout of Books and A Winter's Respite from The True Book Addict).  Plus, I will probably do the Dewey 24-Hour Readathon in April with some better planning.
  3. Be better at chronicling my crafting -- I'm really getting into scrapbooking and card making.  Hopefully, I will have some fun creations up this year.
  4. Put more family updates -- Do you even know that I have a family?  It's really hard to tell from the blog.  I need to put more family activities, pictures, etc up on here.
  5. Reinstitute Quote Wednesdays -- Somehow, I just stopped doing these, but I want to get back to them.  One of my Day Zero tasks is a list of inspirational quotes.  Quote Wednesday would be a great place to showcase those.
  6. Branch out into some new music for Music Mondays -- Another Day Zero task is 26 new bands.  I want to showcase these and revisit some favorites.
  7. Not commit myself to every meme I find interesting -- I don't have to do them all.  And some I can just do sporadically.  Nothing bad will happen if I don't do them all.
  8. Share more interesting links, blogs posts, articles, etc.  -- I won't be reposting everything I find interesting, but every once in a while I run across something really fun and/or thought provoking.
  9. Clean out my Goggle Reader -- It's getting a bit ridiculous...  I have a ton of sites in here that aren't updated very often.  Plus the list keeps growing.  I really need to do an overhaul.
  10. Post at least once a week on another blogger's site -- I am horrible about commenting.  I read tons of others' blogs and love what they have to say.  But then I just move on.  I need to set myself a committment of commenting and letting those bloggers know that I like their stuff.
  11. Get moving on my Day Zero Project -- I'm doing pretty good, but I need to get moving on some of the bigger tasks...
  12. Possibly include movie reviews? -- I posted movie reviews for my Sept. A to Z, but those are the only ones I really reviewed.  Maybe I should include more.  Or at least the new movies (new to me or new in general) that I love.  Possibly...

Twelve resolutions.  I think these are doable.  Any more and I think I would drown in resolutions.  I'm going to put reminders throughout the year to keep me on track.  Do you have any blogging resolutions for this new year?

Goodbye 2011, Hello 2012

As part of my holidays, I am taking a bit of a blogging break.  I want to spend time with all three of my boys and relax.  So, I will not be actively blogging.  I have scheduled my reading challenge posts to appear on a daily basis until I return.  I have some great ideas for the upcoming year.  See you in 2012!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Pondering Reflections

I am at a crossroads... with this blog I mean.  My blog is basically a year old.  I started it sometime in November, but didn't really get the hang of it until the first of the year.  I signed up for a ton of reading challenges.  I jioned a few memes.  I created a few regular features.  And now it's time to decide where to go from here.  I've already began to organiaze my TBR piles and reading challenges for next year.  The basement theater is lookiong a bit ridiculous and I'm sure J is about done with my mess.  But I love being organized.  And usually that means making a crazy mess for a bit before everything looks all pretty again.  There are so many great books sitting in the garage.  I want to read them all.  But I know that's a crazy goal.  So I need to try and organize and scale back.

I'm also trying to figure out the overall shape of my blog.  I know that I'll still do book reviews and reading challenges.  But what about all those other little feature things (meal plan, music monday, top ten tuesday, etc)?  I have to think about what I want to commit myself to, especially since taking on a full time job and wanting to plan things for when I have the boys (and possibly a vacation with or without the boys).

All this leads to a pondering Tobe.  What to do?  What to do?  In some ways I love these times of decisions.  And then I panic and think "Am I doing the right thing?"  I guess it's all about the decisions the time.  I can't get caught up in "What Ifs."  So I'll ponder and make decisions.  And make a big year end wrap-up post.  Also, I think I'll be taking a bit of blog vacation for the second half of December.  A bit of a break to energize sounds like a great idea.

Holiday Card Exchange

From BirdBrain(ed) Book Blog:

It’s that time of the year! I’m hosting the Book Bloggers Holiday Card Exchange once more (see the 2010 post here) and I’m hoping this year will go much more smoothly. Last year was fun but it took me forever to come up with partners; this year I’ve simplified things so hopefully I won’t have people getting more cards than they send out again.

Info

1. Sign up for the exchange by November 30, 2011. 2. Partners go out December 3, 2011. 3. You have until December 13, 2011 to send your card(s). 4. Since it’s a book-lovers card exchange you have to include something book-related in your card. Some ideas:

    a. Write about a book you’ve read recently
    b. Give a few book recommendations to your partner
    c. Tell a book-related story
    d. Something else book-related that you think up yourself.

5. Since this is a book blogger holiday card exchange, you need to be a blogger who blogs at least sometimes about books to participate. 6. The swap is open internationally. Since last year I got a big headache trying to pair up people who did/did not want to send internationally, this year everyone must be willing to send internationally. Okay? Okay. 7. You can exchange up to five cards. You won’t always get a card from the same people you send your cards to. It will nevertheless be an awesome thing.

Some Things to Remember

1. You HAVE to send a card. A card is something like this. You can make it yourself or buy it at the store. Everything you write must be contained in the card itself. Letters are not cards. The card doesn’t have to be book-themed OR holiday themed (but it might be nice if it was). I would personally refrain from sending specifically religious-themed cards, because that sort of thing tends to offend people, even if you didn’t mean to offend them. 2. You HAVE to write something book-related in your card (see above). You can’t just say “happy holidays.” You COULD just write a list of books and that’s all, but I don’t think that’d be a lot of fun, do you? 3. You DON’T have to send anything else but the card, but if you want to stick in something else that’d be fine. A bookmark, for instance, would be really nice. Whatever you send: it has to be flat enough to fit in the envelope– no upgrading into package territory, here. 4. The most you should spend is $5. The point of the exchange is that it’s cheap enough for us money-less people to participate in, so everything should cost $5 and under. I don’t know if you can even buy a card that costs more than $5. Can you?

I love this Idea!!!!  I'm going to be making homemade Christmas cards this year and it would be amazing to spread the joy to fellow book bloggers!  Follow the link, sign up, and join me in the fun!

Meals a la Tobe! #10

Sunday

-- Pulled Pork Sandwiches

-- Potato Chips

Always a classic choice.  I especially love them with dill pickles.

Monday

-- Orange Dill Mahi Mahi

Basically cook the fish over med-high heat with a sauce of orange juice, red onion, and dill.

-- Peas

-- Rice

-- French bread

Light, but refreshing.  A definite addition to my recipe list.

Tuesday

-- Mini meatloafs

-- Baked potato

-- Green beans

-- French bread

J has professed that he doesn't like meat loaf, but he liked mine.  I mixed cracker crumbs, an egg, oregano, garlic, onion, and red pepper.  I like a bit of kick to my meat loaf.

Wednesday

-- Eat out: Ruby Tuesday!

Thursday

-- Eat out: Valentino's for a baby shower!

Friday

-- Eat out: Taco John's...  I had a headache, so no cooking on my agenda.

Saturday

-- BBQ Chicken

-- Corn

-- Pumpernickel bread

Week summary/comments: A couple of classic favorites, a kicked up old favorite, and a new recipe.  I am excited about the fish recipe.  Looking forward to couple new recipes and some old favorites.

Meals a la Tobe! #9

Sunday

-- Chicken Cordon Bleu Pizza from Sam and Louies: I love their pizza!

Monday

-- Steak with mango, peach, jalapeno salsa

-- Rice

-- Green Beans

Very yummy!  J completely approved of the salsa and even requested that the dish be added to regular rotation.  Only one little mishap: jalapeno juice to the eyes which left me blinded and in incredible pain sitting in the shower for 20 minutes.  Next time I will be more careful.  I definitely don't want to feel that again!

Tuesday

-- Gouda BBQ Chicken

-- Rice

-- Green Beans

-- Crescent Rolls

Definitely a keeper.  The chicken was great!  It was even great the day after for leftovers.  I even got  a few interested inquiries from my new coworkers.

Wednesday

-- Lasagna

A classic.   I used spicy Italian sausage this time.  A great addition.

Thursday

-- Eat out:  Yummy Chinese food!

Friday

-- Eat out: Chicken Fingers and Beer at Old Chicago!

Saturday

-- Rotisserie Chicken

-- Cheesy Broccoli Pasta Bake

A massive list of errands made me not want to cook.  So I picked up a rotisserie chicken from the deli.  I did make the cheesy broccoli pasta, but that was quick and easy.

Week summary/comments: Some good dinners this week.  I'm looking forward to trying a few new recipes next week and planning on having some old favorites.

Temporary Absence!

I feel like I have abandoned my blog!  I really haven't, but this week has made me feel like it.  The reason... I got a job.  Yes!  Finally!  My goodness took me long enough!  I got a job and started this Monday.  My constant presence on the internet and more specifically FB and my blog has dwindled to 20 minutes (maybe) a day.  And that has made me feel like I've abandoned my blog...  As I've settled into my new schedule/routine/tasks, I have gotten more comfortable with my job.  I should be able to get back to my participation in the blogging world very soon.  Never fear, I am not abandoning my blog.

P.S. I absolutely love my job and will be talking about it more in the future.

Meals a la Tobe! #8

Sunday

-- Leftovers

Monday

-- Boston Market

Tuesday

-- Fish Tacos

-- Red beans and rice

Wednesday

-- Jimmy John's (We were both working on projects and by the time I realized I was hungry, it was too late to cook.)

Thursday

-- Sloppy Joe's

-- Mac and Cheese

Friday

-- Dinner at a friend's house

Saturday

-- J had a last minute meeting, so I had leftover sloppy joe's.

Week summary/comments: Wow!  I made it an entire week by only cooking twice.  I swear this was not intentional.  Things just came up.  Plus we had dinner at a friend's on Friday night.  I really have to spend some time tonight planning dinner for this upcoming week because I start my job tomorrow!  It's going to be a hectic week...  Hopefully I get some good recipes.

Meals a la Tobe! #7

Sunday

Chinese Night

-- Chicken Stir Fry

-- Eggrolls

-- Crab Rangoon

Monday

-- Out to grab some Noodles & Co.

I wasn't feeling good at all, so no cooking for me.  It's hard enough to make myself cook when I feel good.  When I'm icky, it's just not going to happen.  So pasta cheered me up (mostly because I didn't have to cook it!)

Tuesday

-- BBQ Chicken on the grill

-- Mashed Potatoes

-- Corn

-- Rolls

We had to get in a few more grill nights before it gets way too cold.

Wednesday

-- Eat out

It was my monthly Stampin' Up meeting.  Afterwards, J drove down to meet me in Bellevue for dinner. We had some yummy Chinese at one of his old restaurant when he was on base.  Yum Yum!

Thursday

-- Eat out

J had his meeting, so we went out to get something after the meeting.  Yummy spinach artichoke calzone, cheesecake, and good beer from Old Chicago.

Friday

-- Leftover night

Saturday

-- Roast with potatoes, onions, and green beans in crock pot

Classic dinner.  Love it!

Week summary/comments:

An odd week.  Not much actual cooking being done.  Instead, we ate out a lot and cleaned ou the fridge.  We should be getting back to cooking this upcoming week.

Meals a la Tobe! #6

Sunday From Rachel Ray's Book of 10

-- Fall Minestrone

2 tbsp EVOO 1/2 teas red pepper flakes 4 garlic cloves, chopped 3 Portobello mushroom caps, chopped 2 med onions, chopped 2 med carrots, diced 2 celery ribs, chopped salt and pepper 2 stems of fresh rosemary 8 fresh sage leaves, thinly sliced 1 med zucchini, diced 1 small bunch of kale, chopped 1 15 oz can of cannellini beans, drained (northern white beans) 1 14 oz can of diced tomatoes 1 quart 2 cups veggie stock Piece of rind of Parmigiano cheese (just used a couple small chunks instead) 1 cup ditalini pasta (used bow ties, cause they were in the cupboard) Grated Parmigiano-Reggiano for topping

Heat med soup pot over med-high heat, add EVOO.  Add red pepper, garlic, mushrooms, onions, carrots, and celery.  Cook 5-6 minutes.  Season with salt and pepper and add rosemary and sage.  Add zucchini and greens and stir until wilted down (2-3 minutes).  Add beans, tomatoes, stock, and cheese.  Place lid on pot and bring to a boil.  Uncover and add pasta.  Cook 7-8 minutes at roiling simmer until pasta is al dente.  Remove pot from heat.  Remove rosemary stems and rind.  Enjoy!

-- Asiago Cheese Batard

Very very yummy.  It turned into more a stew than a soup, but I like it like that.  We had enough left over that I put half into a plastic container for leftovers and half into the freezer for later.  I am definitely putting this recipe on my list.

Monday

-- Pizza (J's meeting night at our house, our guest brought pizza!)

Tuesday

-- Pizza leftovers

Wednesday

-- Spinach, Mushroom, and Mozzarella Calzones

Very yummy and so easy to make.  Get a pizza crust, throw whatever toppings you want on the pizza crust, fold in half, cook in oven for ~15 minutes.  Voila!  Easy to eat calzones!

Thursday

-- Brats on the Grill

-- Potato Chips

-- Broccoli

Friday

-- Lazy, lazy... We had Boston Market.

Saturday

-- Spicy Shrimp and Penne with Puttanesca Sauce

1 lb penne pasta Coarse slat 1/4 cup EVOO 8 garlic cloves, chopped 2 teas red pepper flakes 8-10 whole anchovy fillets 1/2 cup black olives, chopped 3-4 tbsp capers, drained and chopped 1 14 oz can diced tomatoes 1 14 oz can crushed tomatoes 1 lb (24 count) peeled and deveined shrimp 2 handfuls parsley leaves, chopped

Boil a large pot of water, add and cook penne pasta.  Heat a large deep skillet over medium heat.  Add EVOO, garlic, red pepper, and anchovies.  Break up the fish with a wooden spoon until they melt in the oil.  Add olives, capers, and tomatoes.  Bring sauce to a bubble and add shrimp.  Cover the pan to cook the shrimp (3-4 minutes).  Uncover and add parsley.  Toss together pasta and sauce.  Enjoy!

Definitely not as good as I hoped.  It had all the flavors there, but they weren't strong enough.  It ended up being fairly bland.  J and I agree that it would probably help to cook this in a pot all day.  Then the flavors would have time to settle in.  Unfortunately, I didn't, so it really wasn't that good.  Probably going into the "not making again" pile.

Week summary/comments: J's constant meeting day changes really threw me of this week.  My meal plan just went out the window.   I did a lot of improvising and throwing together.  Thankfully we already had many of the ingredients in the fridge. (And brats in the freezer!)  Next week, I actually have some recipes to tryout.  Wish me luck.

Meals a la Tobe! #5

Sunday

From Rachel Ray's Book of 10

-- Grilled Chicken Caesar with Bacon-Herb-Parmesan "Croutons"

1 1/2 cup EVOO 2 slices bacon, chopped 1 1/2 cups grated Parmigiano-Reggiano 4 garlic cloves, chopped juice of 2 lemons salt and pepper 1 1/2 lbs cicken cutlets 2 tbsp Dijon mustard 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 3 romanice lettuce hearts, chopped 3 hard boiled eggs, chopped

Preheat oven 400 degrees. Preheat grill to high. Cook bacon. Grated cheese and mix with bacon. Line a backing sheet with parchment paper. Pour the cheese mix evenly cross the sheet. Place in oven for 3-4 minutes. Remove to cool completely. Combine half of garlic, half of lemon juice, salt, pepper, and drizzle of EVOO in shallow pan. Coat chicken in mix and cook on grill. In a bowl, mix remaining garlic, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and lots of pepper. Whisk in some EVOO and bit of grated cheese. Combine lettuce, eggs, and dressing in a bowl. Serve by placing sliced chicken on top of lettuce. Break up "croutons" and garnish.

Good, but not amazing.  This may be made again, but probably not in the near future...

Monday

From Rachel Ray's Book of 10

-- Pretzel Crusted Chicken Breast with a Cheddar-Mustard Sauce

4 skinless chicken breast halves (pounded thin) 5 oz. salted pretzels, finely crushed 1 tbsp thyme Ground black pepper 2 eggs Vegetable oil, for frying 2 tbsp unsalted butter 2 tbsp flour 2 cups milk 2 cups grated extra sharp cheddar cheese 2 heaping tbsp spicy brown mustard Coarse salt 1/4 cup chopped parsley 1/4 small yellow onion, chopped 1 large sour dill pickle, finely chopped 1 lemon, cut into wedges

Combine pretzels, thyme, and pepper in a small bowl. Crack and beat eggs in a second bowl with a splash of water. Coat each breast with pretzels, then egg, then back to pretzels. Preheat a large skillet. Cook chicken. In a medium suace pan over medium heat, melt the butter and add flour to it. Cook for 1 minute, then whisk in the milk. When the milk comes to a bubble, stir in the cheese and mustard with a wooden spoon. Season with a little salt and pepper, and remove sauce from heat. Serve the chicken breasts drizzled with cheddar-mustard sauce, parsley, onions, and pickles. Place lemon wedges on the side for extra flavor.

-- French Fries

-- Broccoli

This was a disaster.  The sauce was completely lumpy and not very flavorful.  The pretzel coating completely fell off the chicken.  It didn't even add that much flavor.  It took forever to prep and make, and yet nothing exciting.  We definitely won't be revisiting this one.

Tuesday

-- Tacos

J's meeting got pushed again this week.  So I whipped up some tacos.  Easy and fast!  Yet so satisfying!

Wednesday

From Rachel Ray's Book of 10

-- Toasted Ravioli

-- Garlic Bread

Fairly tasty, however, the effort was not worth it.  I had a hard time getting the dread crumbs to stick to the ravioli through the cooking process.  Plus, I could only cook a few at a time.  Too much time and effort.  J suggested that I bake them next time. Maybe...

Thursday

-- Hamburgers on the grill (mushroom and swiss for me; bacon and cheddar for J)

-- Baked beans

-- Potato salad

-- Pineapple

We have to take advantage of the grill before it gets nasty cold outside.

Friday

-- Pizza night!

Sam and Louie's bacon chicken ranch is just amazing.  I love it so much.

Saturday

-- Leftover pizza

-- Salad with bleu cheese dressing, cranberries, and sunflower seeds

-- Pneapples

Week summary/comments: Mostly a good week.  We had two not-so-great meals.  Both were edible, but probably won't be tried again.  For next week, I've got some more Rachel Ray recipes lined up and probably some old stand bys.
