Hello Spring Bee!

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a spring card. Around my house spring means bees hanging out in the bushes near my front walk. So I decided to make a spring card featuring the delightful bumblebee from the Dragonfly Dreams Stamp Set. I can't believe this is the first card I've made using the bee. Apparently I was really fixated on the dragonfly image. I stamped my bee (two layer stamping) and cut him out by hand. There is a die cut corresponding to the bee but I would have lost the color if I die cut it. From there, I stamped some fun spring blooms and added a sentiment to one layer. The top layer is embossed using the Hexagons Embossing Folder and then sponged with some Delightful Dijon to create a pseudo honeycomb. Love this cute little card so much I featured it at March's stamp club.

SSINKTC42: Understated Bloom

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the technique below.

For my card, I used the traditional way of doing stained glass cards. I have also seen others use a large cutout die (like the Rose Garden Thinlits) and replace the middle pieces with colored paper. Very cool effect, but I enjoy doing the heat embossing and vellum technique. For my card, I used the Birthday Blooms stamp set as my stained glass image. I have found that the trick to coloring is to use darker markers to show the color more. After coloring, I handcut my vellum and placed it in the corner of my card. I added a metallic doily and a sentiment.

Detailed of the flower:

  • Stamps: Birthday Blooms; Dragonfly Dreams
  • Inks: Perfect Plum; Elegant Eggplant; Always Artichoke; Pumpkin Pie
  • Cardstock: Falling in Love DSP; Very Vanilla; Crumb Cake
  • Accessories: Metallic Doily
  • Tools: Gold Embossing Powder; Vellum

Sugarplum Dragonfly

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using your favorite Sale-a-Bration item. My newest obsession is the new 6x6 Glimmer Paper Assortment Pack. You get four sheets each of three colors: Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaron, and Sweet Sugarplum. I need all the shiny things so of course I got this as soon as I could! For my card, I kept it simple to highlight the awesome glitter paper. I die cut a dragonfly from my piece of whisper white and a piece of vellum. I layered on a few coordinating colors of cardstock and added a simple sentiment. For final touches I added a few enamel shapes to give a bit extra sparkle. This card really shines in person!

Succulent Garden Dragonfly

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using your favorite Occasions Catalog Accessory. Unfortunately, I didn't buy much for my preorder and my next order hasn't arrived yet. So, until I get some new goodies, my favorite non-stamp product from the catalog is the Succulent Garden DSP. Just look how gorgeous this paper is! I love the colors and patterns.

For my card, I wanted to highlight some of the fun patterns. I took my color cues from the paper to create my dragonfly and stamped piece of Whisper White. The color on the dragonfly was added with the new watercolor pencils. I love how I can blend colors to create more interesting stamped images. After adding my layers, I realized I didn't leave room for my sentiment. Thank goodness I had some space up top. To finish off my card, I added a few silver and sweet sugarplum enamel shapes.

  • Stamps: Dragonfly Dreams
  • Inks: Sweet Sugarplum; Mint Macaron; Basic Black
  • Cardstock: Succulent Garden DSP; Mint Macaron; Whisper White
  • Accessories: 2016-2018 In Color Enamel Shapes; Metallic Enamel Shapes
  • Tools: Detailed Dragonfly Framelit; Triple Banner Punch; Watercolor Pencils

Dotted Dragonfly

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a $50 bundle and card. For my bundle, I used the following products:

  • Dragonfly Dreams Bundle $46.75
  • Wink of Stella $8
  • Total: $54.75
  • SAB Product: Designer Tee Stamp Set
Designer-Tee (1920).jpg
144728G (1920).jpg
141897G (1920).jpg

Using the products listed above and some cardstock and ink, I created this fun dragonfly card. The dragonfly itself is two layers. The bottom layer is the sold dragonfly image stamped using the baby wipe technique to create a fun tie-dye feel. the top layer is the detailed dragonfly die cut from vellum. I also added a layer of Wink of Stella on the vellum to give a bit of sparkle and shine. Finally I topped my dragonfly with a few rhinestones.

Detail of Wink of Stella and rhinestones:

  • Stamps: Dragonfly Dreams; Designer Tee
  • Inks: Flirty Flamingo; Old Olive; Tip Top Taupe
  • Cardstock: Flirty Flamingo; Old Olive; Whisper White; Vellum
  • Accessories: Rhinestones

Dragonfly Dreams

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using one of the new Occasions Catalog suites! I had to showcase the Dragonfly Dreams bundle with the Inside the Lines DSP from SAB. I love the butterflies from the annual catalog, so the dragonflies are a perfect addition to my sets. Originally I was going to color the entire piece of Inside the Lines DSP, but then I remembered the great spotlight technique. I choose a small circle to die cut and then color with the new watercolor pencils. I love the effect and will definitely be using the pencils more. From there I added some layering pieces and a pretty die cut dragonfly.
