Tea Time Birthday

3.png

Today’s card was an attempt to use the pretty, but not quite my style Petal Promenade DSP pack. When faced with florals, I sometimes struggle to find a design that works. For this card, I started by stamping and coloring the tea pot. (Love how that one turned out!!!) From there, I stamped a flower image all over a piece of Powder Pink Cardstock before layering on a piece of DSP. A sentiment and a bit of shine finished off my card.

Tropical Cupcake

3.png

Today’s card is a fun and light birthday card. It took me a few times to get the hang of the cupcake stamp set layering, but I think this one came out nicely. I made the basic elements of my card but realized it was missing just something. Turns out I just needed to add some stamped element in the background to add the finishing touch!

Llama Birthday

3.png

Today’s card is quick and easy! Sometimes you just don’t have a lot of time to make a card, but you still want the design to be fun and interesting. Enter washi tape! I have a giant wire basket full of random washi tape just waiting to be used. So i dug through and pulled out this awesome llama roll to feature. From there, I just found some rolls that looked good together and started adding them to a piece of white paper. A simple sentiment and punched heart finished off my card.

Dragonfly Love

3.png

Today’s card is a very special card because it’s my birthday!!! My favorite color is purple, so today’s card had to have purple featured. In looking at my stamp stash, I had to pull out the Dragonfly Dreams set and coordinating dies. Such a good choice! I took my design from an example in Stampin’ Success, the demonstrator magazine from Stampin’ Up! They always have some great designs and examples to use and this one really spoke to me. It’s from a few years back, but it was the perfect design for today!

Unicorn Rainbow

3.png

Today’s card is a fun watercolor background. Every once in a while, I love to get out a ton of ink and make some watercolor backgrounds. For this one, I created a rainbow using nine different color inks. I love how it all blends together. Once I created my background, I stamped and colored a fun colorful unicorn to add on top of a piece of ribbon and a sentiment.

Layered Tea Room

3.png

Today’s card is a classic design with fun products. I really like the Tea Room DSP, but I often don’t know how to use it without being overwhelming. This layered pendant design is the perfect solution. Simply layer, add a sentiment, and finish off with a few embellishments. Easy peasy! And a great card.

A Cup of Giggles

3.png

Today’s card is a celebration of bright colors and fun beverages! The Coffee Cafe stamp set and coordinating dies are always a favorite in my stash. For this card, I made a fun confection in Melon Mambo and Coastal Cabana. This striped paper from the How Sweet It Is DSP pack is just too fun. You’ll be seeing again later this month.

Announcing 30 Days of Birthday Cards

3.png

Every year for my birthday month I do something fun. This year I’ve committed myself to a stretch goal: 30 days of birthday cards. (I know that March has 31 days, but I think 30 Days of Birthday Cards sounds better…) I pulled out all my stamp sets and DSP and am aiming to try and and use all my stamp sets throughout the month. Of course I’ll be throwing in some quick and easy cards along with more complicated ones. Hoping for some great inspiration this coming month! And stay tuned! I will be posting some great SU specials starting tomorrow (specials are from me directly, not from Stampin’ Up! corporate).

Step It Up with Cake

Today’s cards were part of my Step It Up Class. Basically you take one card and then remake with more (or step it up). Here are the two cards side-by-side:

1:28-1.jpg

For the first card, I started with the idea to feature the various cakes from the Piece of Cake stamp set on a simple background. I stamped, colored, and die cut my cakes before adding a background pattern stamp and sentiment to my white layer. It’s a nice simple card just the way it is.

1:28-2.jpg

But then I stepped the card up! I swapped out the white layer for a piece of Twinkle Twinkle DSP on top of a piece of coordinating Smoky Slate cardstock. From there I added a piece of beautiful Tranquil Tide Velvet Ribbon under my sentiment strip. Finally, I added some embellishment to the cakes. It’s hard to see in this photo, but I added. few pearls to the top left cake and some clear Wink of Stella to the top right and bottom left cakes. Overall, this card has that extra something.
