Summer Stripes

Today’s card challenge is a color challenge. When picking colors, I tend to gravitate toward the Brights Collection. For this card, I tried to use more colors from the Subtles Collection.

While I made a few substitutions for a couple of In Colors (Lemon Lime Twist and Sweet Sugarplum), I kept my card on the pastel side. I ended up pulling out the new-to-me set Thought Banners and created my own banner birthday card for a friend. I love how versatile the message can be with this set. There are so many word options! After adding a little punched banner using the coordinate Duet Banner Punch, my card still felt like it was missing something. So I added a cute coordinating ice cream cone to finish it off!

  • Stamps: Thoughtful Banners; Cool Treats
  • Inks: Lemon Lime Twist; Daffodil Delight; Powder Pink; Sweet Sugarplum; Pool Party; Basic Black
  • Cardstock: Lemon Lime Twist; Pool Party; Whisper White
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Duet Banner Punch; Frozen Treats Framelits

A Figgy Bow

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using my favorite new accessory. These Bitty Bows are just too cute! I had to feature them on a few cards. For this card, I made my own background using these fun swatches from the Playful Backgrounds stamp set. From there, I stamped, colored, and cut out this fun flower. Final touch: The Fresh Fig Bitty Bow!

Party Animal Birthday

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card featuring washi tape. Washi tape is such a great tool for paper crafters. It can add that final element or be a focal point on a project. Obviously I went with focal point for my project. I love creating interesting backgrounds by using washi tape. Once I created the background, I added a simple sentiment and a fun stamped birthday cake to complete my card.

Birthday Dino

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card featuring new catalog products. .How cute is this paper? When I saw it was available for preorder, I knew I had to have it. The pack has some great patterns, but the dinosaurs are definitely my favorite. For my card, I pieced together a strip of fun dino dsp, a coordinating pattern, and a stamped piece of Sahara Sand. From there I added a great sentiment from my newest set, Better Together. I can't wait to use this stamp set and pattern paper pack more. Stay tuned for some great new product cards in June.

For this card, I played off of a fun color combo of Calypso Coral, Island Indigo, and Copper. I built my cake and added a heat embossed banner. I repeated the copper with a small copper foil banner sticking out from behind the cake. Simple card, but I love it!

Square Birthday

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using retiring DSP. I wasn't the biggest fan of the Party Animal DSP at first, but it really did grow on me. After classes, paper shares, and previous cards, I was left this week with a few strips and squares. How to utilize these scraps to make a great card? Rely on geometry of course! I simply left the squares as is and started layering them on a piece of white cardstock. I trimmed off the excess and was left with an awesome base for a simple stamped birthday cake and sentiment. To add the finishing element, I placed some star enamel shapes in place of the starbursts on the cake. Perfect birthday card for a little boy turning 4 this weekend!
