Music Monday -- 101 Faves 90s Edition (Part 2)

As part of my ongoing Day Zero Project, I've made a list of my favorite 101 songs of all time.  To help cut down on the possibilities, I took songs only from my iTunes account.  Each edition will include ~5 songs with a theme.  Enjoy!

Matchbox Twenty "3 am" -- One of those songs that I still know every word to...  I loved early Matchbox Twenty.  I even saw them in concert at Ball State in 2000.

No Doubt "Sunday Morning" -- While many would go to "Just a Girl" or "Spiderwebs" from Tragic Kingdom, I always go to "Sunday Morning."  For added fun, a live version.

The Offspring "The Kids Aren't Alright" -- Another band I saw in concert during college.  I love their older stuff, but this song holds a special place in my heart.  Too many of the situations in this song reminded me of people I knew in high school.  Kind of sad, but I still love it.

Hole "Celebrity Skin" -- Another concert band.  I was supposed to see them with Marilyn Manson, but they dropped out of the tour.  Thankfully they came a few months later during a Christmas concert with Orgy and two others bands.  Okay, it may not have been a Christmas concert, but it was four bands...

Music Monday -- 2000

As part of my ongoing celebration for my 30th birthday, I am highlighting some popular songs from throughout my years.  Songs were picked based off of a list of Grammy award winners and Billboard Top 100.  Then, I chose my favorites to highlight.

Year: 2000

Book: Unknown

Music Selections:

  1. Jars of Clay If I Left the Zoo -- Love old Jars of Clay.
  2. Silverchair "Anthem for the Year 2000" -- I graduated high school in 2000.  This was my friend's and I's unofficial song.
  3. Vertical Horizon "Everything You Want" -- Obsessed with this song during the summer.
  4. Matchbox Twenty "Bent" -- I really really liked Matchbox Twenty for a while there... and I got to see them in concert this year.
  5. No Doubt "Ex Girlfriend" -- I think my favorite No Doubt song, although Tragic Kingdom is the best album.

Year: 2002

Music Selections:

  1. Nickel Creek "This Side" -- I have a little place in my heart for Nickel Creek.  Their bluegrass, lovely lyrical music just puts me in a good mood whenever I listen.  I own all their records and solo projects.
  2. Dave Matthews Band "Grey Street" -- Another favorite band.  This is hands down my favorite song from them.
  3. No Doubt "Hey Baby" -- Long time fan of No Doubt.  Great fun song.
  4. The Calling "Wherever You Will Go" -- More of a one hit wonder, but it's still a great song.
  5. Dixie Chicks "Long Time Gone" -- The forgotten Dixie Chicks album?  But still a great one.
