Patterned Butterfly

Today’s card features one of my favorite retiring stamp sets: Kinda Eclectic.  This stamp set was my first purchase from the 2015-2016 catalog. I loved the abstract nature of some of the stamp pieces (dots, sunburst) mixed with the butterflies and leaves. For this card, I focused on saying farewell to the wonderful butterflies. So sad to give them up! But I may just keep them to pull out now and again...

  • Stamps: Kinda Eclectic
  • Inks: Mint Macaron; Island Indigo; Sweet Sugarplum; Rich Razzleberry
  • Cardstock: Mint Macaron; Island Indigo; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Pearls

SSINKTC43: Circle Weaving

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using March's technique: paper weaving.

The In Color Envelope Paper is one of my favorite products for random projects! I cut multiple pieces of paper into 0.5" strips. After weaving a mat, I adhered it to a piece of cardstock to create a stable piece. Once my paper weaving was in place, it was just a matter of adding a sentiment and a few embellishments. The punched butterfly was a last minute addition, but I love how it looks.

Simple Butterfly

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using some sparkle and shine. I'm partial to our metallic foil paper. I have all three colors: gold, silver, and copper, but for this card, I focused on gold. I created a large stamped butterfly (after four tries...) and placed a die cut gold butterfly on top. From there I created a mat with sentiment and layered it on another piece of gold foil. The card still seemed a bit plain so I added a piece of Gold Foil Patterned Acetate and the card came together!

Detail of my shine:

  • Stamps: Suite Sayings; Watercolor Wings
  • Inks: Blushing Bride; Watermelon Wonder; Calypso Coral; Early Espresso
  • Cardstock: Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate; Gold Foil; Watermelon Wonder; Whisper White

SSINKCC43: Bunch of Butterflies

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the colors below.

My card is simple, but I really loved making it. I haven't used the Papillon Potpurri stamp set and butterfly punches in such a long time and I don't know why. I love butterflies! So I pulled it back out and went to town mixing the colors with a fun background. Simple yet effective. That seems to be my style right now and I'm okay with it!

  • Stamps: Playful Backgrounds; Papillon Potpurri; Suite Sayings
  • Inks: Melon Mambo; Perfect Plum; Tip Top Taupe
  • Cardstock: Melon Mambo; Perfect Plum; Tip Top Taupe; Whisper White

Falling Butterfly

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using our favorite paper from the Occasions Catalog. I don't usually gravitate to the soft feminine patterns, but I completely fell for the Falling in Love DSP! I decided to repeat the butterflies in the paper by die cutting a large butterfly in coordinately colors. The floral pattern paper is hands-down my favorite pattern from the pack and had to include it on the card. To finish the card, I added a sentiment and and shimmer and shine (Wink of Stella and pearls).

Detail of the Wink of Stella on the butterfly

  • Stamps: Blooms & Wishes
  • Inks: Rich Razzleberry
  • Cardstock: Falling in Love DSP; Sweet Sugarplum; Blushing Bride
  • Accessories: Pearls
  • Tools: Lots of Labels Framelits; Bold Butterfly Thinlits; Wink of Stella

SSINK August 2016 Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration blog hop! This month we are creating ABC 123 cards. That's 1 stamp set, 2 pattern papers, and 3 embellishments.  As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number 1 on the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration Blog Hop – Diana @ Stampin' Fun with Diana. If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn’t work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

Each card needed to have one stamp set, two paper patterns, and three embellishments. I decided to play off the beautiful patterns and colors of the Moroccan DSP. I didn't initially fall for this pack of paper, but I've found myself wanting to pick up and use it more and more lately. Yea for me not hoarding paper like I usually do. So I layered some of the patterned paper on top of coordinating cardstock. The middle was pretty empty, so I added this beautiful die cut butterfly. For my embellishments, I pulled out the Dapper Denim color for the washi tape and ribbon. And went tone-on-tone with the Emerald Envy enamel shapes.

  • Stamps: Happy Happenings
  • Inks: Early Espresso
  • Cardstock: Moroccan DSP; Early Espresso; Emerald Envy; Delightful Dijon; Cajun Craze
  • Accessories: Moroccan Washi Tape; Dapper Denim Ruched Ribbon; 2016-2018 In Color Enamel Shapes
  • Tools: Bold Butterfly Framelits; Lots of Labels Framelits

Typeset Butterflies

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using a retiring product. I've been trying to use a decent portion of the retiring DSP. I fully admit to be a DSP hoarder. For this card, I'm actually using two different DSP packs. I love the simple color combos and mix of pattern papers.

A variation I made:

  • Stamps:
  • Inks:
  • Cardstock: Typeset DSP (retiring); Pretty Petals DSP (retiring); Calypso Coral; Pool Party; Very Vanilla
  • Accessories: Candy Dots (retiring)
  • Tools: Elegant Butterfly Punch; Pansy Punch

SSINKIC25: Fall Outfit

Today's card is featured over at Stylin' Stampin' Inkspiration and features a fun photo inspiration challenge!

I decided to take the colors from the photo and run... I saw a great card online where they embossing silver paper to create a tin ceiling look. I loved the idea so I adapted it to my card. The Hardwood Embossing Folder was the perfect choice. Next I made my butterfly. I played around with all my blues until I found a combination that I really liked. For an extra pop, I added a die cut small butterfly in gold. Perfect! Layering the butterfly on top of a piece of Mint Maracon DSP and a punched sentiment finished my card.

  • Stamps: Happy Happenings; Watercolor Wings
  • Inks: Delightful Dijon; Pool Party; Island Indigo; Lost Lagoon
  • Cardstock: Gold Paper; Lost Lagoon; 2015-2017 In Color DSP; Whisper White
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Hardwood Embossing Folder; Bold Butterfly Framelits; 1 1/4" Circle Punch

Hexagons and Butterflies

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to CASE the catalog. I scoured the pages for inspiration. What should I do? I narrowed the list down to 10 different cards, then down to 5, then to 3. From the last three contenders I decided to go with a card that caught my eye, but isn't my usual style. I've been trying to stretch my crafting into areas and designs that I are not my go-tos. The card below definitely falls into that category.

Taking the card from the catalog I started to recreate the look.  Obviously I made a few changes to the card. First of all, I added a layer of Very Vanilla and changed the colors. I love Wisteria Wonder but don't use it very often. So I went with Wisteria Wonder, my new favorite color Mint Macaron, and a great neutral in Tip Top Taupe. From there, I wanted to tackle the background splatters. How to recreate it? Simple solution: use my Tip Top Taupe marker to "dot" the card. Using both ends of the marker, I created varied spots. It looks even better in person! I stamped and punched my hexagons and arranged them onto the base and then added a sentiment. Finally I cut out my butterfly (way easier than the large butterfly framelit) and finished the card with a pearl.

  • Stamps: Six Sided Sampler
  • Inks: Wisteria Wonder; Mint Macaron; Tip Top Taupe
  • Cardstock: Wisteria Wonder; Very Vanilla
  • Accessories: Pearls
  • Tools: Bold Butterfly Framelits; Hexagon Punch
