Sunday Haul #27

I popped into Target for some other things, but couldn't' resist some of the back-to-school deals. I grabbed some fun post it notes, post it tags, and Paper Mate Flair for my planner pages. I also picked up some adhesive squares to hang my calendar and some cute ruler bags for some undetermined project.

After book club, Pam and I popped into Michael's to browse. Of course i came out with some goodies. I grabbed some white paper and snail (essentials!), a glue pen, some watercolor paper, and two large clothespins. But my favorite purchase was the new Heidi Swapp Picturesque core kit. So excited about this one!

Week in the Life 2015 - Plan and Prep

I'm so excited to dive into my first attempt at Week in the Life. I took the advice of my previous documenters and prepped my album before the week. First step was pulling out the supplies. I bought Ali Edwards' kit below so I started there. The kit is great, but I wanted to add to it with some embellishments and alphas from my own stacks.

From there, I started laying out my pages and my plan for the week. I started with my cover page in stark black and gold. I finally found a use for these ABM Messy Box gold letters!

On the opposite side, I decided to do a simple title page with the dates of the week.

I would love to do a 6x8" photo for each day of the week, but we will have to see what I come up with later. At least I can start making a journaling or traditional scrapbooking page on the opposite side of where the photo would be. These are the patterned papers that i decided on (all from my Messy Box). I used the gold star washi and wood days of the week from the WITL kit. These pages may eventually include some journaling or a picture.

I plan on using the Morning, Afternoon, and Evening 3x8" card for pics of our meals. The opposite side will be used probably for journaling... I went ahead and made a "Currently" card for each day of the week,

From there I am leaving the pockets open for pictures with some journaling cards in between. Hopefully I can print the pictures soon after the week to actually complete the album.

Project Life June 2015

This month was filled with activities with the twins... We had a ton of fun. For these pages, I went with a blue, green, and yellow color palette.

The last page for June is actually the last page in this volume. I decided to do a bit of a wrap-up page instead of just ending. One side has a collection of "Currently" cards, one for each month. The other side has my blog and book stats as well has a complete listing of the books read in 2015 so far.

Desktop Thursday #7

Working on some swaps for the new Stampin' Up Holiday Catalog. There's a sneak peek of a great new stamp set and matching die cuts. Also in the picture: wire basket containing my Week in the Life supplies (and gray album lurking in the corner), new cork background for my wall, new brown desk organizer J picked up for me, and random pile to be filed away.

Oldie but a Goodie

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using an older, but still current stamp set. Kinda Eclectic was the second stamp set that I received from the 2014-2015 catalog. (I received Work of Art free at the Catalog Premiere) I immediately fell for the versatile shapes. I made a ton of cards right after buying the set. Unfortunately, I haven't used in very often in the last few months. It was nice to pick it back up again and challenge myself to make a new card.

I decided to stick to a simple three color palette featuring some of the 2014-2016 In Colors. From there, I started playing with layering stamps and shapes. To finish the card, I made a layered sentiment. The end result is a great almost one layer card.

SSINKCS24: Butterfly Birthday

Today’s card is featured over at Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration and features a fun card sketch challenge today. Looking at the sketch, I knew that I was going to jazz it up a bit, but how? After some initial thought, I was drawn to using the Watercolor Wings stamp set to create a birthday card for my Grandmother.

I first stamped the butterflies and cut them out. From there, I decided to add some fun pattern paper as a background. The layered paper still looked a little stark, so I added a bit of washi tape to add some visual interest. And still the card was too plain. So I added the sentiment in a repeating pattern. Much better! Finally I finished the card with a die cut butterfly and rhinestones. My grandmother's favorite color is purple and she likes butterflies. I really hope that she loves this card.

Sunday Haul #26

Lots of fun goodies coming in this week... I started at Michael's to pick up something for my countertop and ended up with two pictures full of stuff. I scored three D-ring albums for $8.99 each. Arthur is set for his next year and the family albums are set for 2016. Woohoo! I also spied and snapped up the Christmas value kit, pack of design D page protectors, and the new Seasons core kit all for 40% off. And I grabbed that little black box tray to use for my current month's PL embellishments and cards.

And then I went into the sticker aisle and found these great Thanksgiving and Christmas ones for $0.99 a piece! Plus a flower pot and clipboard for super clearance. The mambi stickers (for my planner) were regular price but I used a 40% coupon. Finally my crafting mat arrived from Amazon. I bought the 18 x 20 size and so far it is the perfect size for PL and card making.

The most exciting buys this week came from Stampin' Up. Tuesday was the first day that demos could preorder from the Holiday Catalog. I could have gone crazy, but restrained myself to just a few products to play with in August. I ordered on Tuesday and these came on Thursday! Talk about a quick delivery time! Look for cards made from these supplies at the end of August.

  • Merry Momemnts DSP Stack
  • Merry Moments Cardstock
  • Season of Cheer Washi tape
  • Sparkly Seasons stamp set
  • Seasonal Frame Thinlits

Feminine Friday

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a feminine card. I tend towards bright colors and geometric designs. So here's another challenge to my usual style. I wanted to use a few of my pastel ink pads. These three are a great combination. Some paint swatches and butterflies help to fill out the card. I love how this card turned out.

Hexagons and Butterflies

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to CASE the catalog. I scoured the pages for inspiration. What should I do? I narrowed the list down to 10 different cards, then down to 5, then to 3. From the last three contenders I decided to go with a card that caught my eye, but isn't my usual style. I've been trying to stretch my crafting into areas and designs that I are not my go-tos. The card below definitely falls into that category.

Taking the card from the catalog I started to recreate the look.  Obviously I made a few changes to the card. First of all, I added a layer of Very Vanilla and changed the colors. I love Wisteria Wonder but don't use it very often. So I went with Wisteria Wonder, my new favorite color Mint Macaron, and a great neutral in Tip Top Taupe. From there, I wanted to tackle the background splatters. How to recreate it? Simple solution: use my Tip Top Taupe marker to "dot" the card. Using both ends of the marker, I created varied spots. It looks even better in person! I stamped and punched my hexagons and arranged them onto the base and then added a sentiment. Finally I cut out my butterfly (way easier than the large butterfly framelit) and finished the card with a pearl.

  • Stamps: Six Sided Sampler
  • Inks: Wisteria Wonder; Mint Macaron; Tip Top Taupe
  • Cardstock: Wisteria Wonder; Very Vanilla
  • Accessories: Pearls
  • Tools: Bold Butterfly Framelits; Hexagon Punch

Washi Balloons

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to use some of SU's amazing washi tape. I love washi tape and it appears on many of my cards. For this card, I wanted something big and bold. How about covering my piece of cardstock with washi tape? That's definitely big and bold.

After covering the cardstock in washi, I cut out two balloons, added a sentiment, and finished the card with a little banner. A simple card, but it makes a big statement.

From the above card I had cut out two washi covered balloons. I couldn't just throw those in the trash. Instead I decided to make another birthday card. Another cut out balloon, a sentiment, and drawn on balloon strings complete the card. The perfect pair of cards featuring some great washi tape!
