SSINKCS24: Butterfly Birthday

Today’s card is featured over at Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration and features a fun card sketch challenge today. Looking at the sketch, I knew that I was going to jazz it up a bit, but how? After some initial thought, I was drawn to using the Watercolor Wings stamp set to create a birthday card for my Grandmother.

I first stamped the butterflies and cut them out. From there, I decided to add some fun pattern paper as a background. The layered paper still looked a little stark, so I added a bit of washi tape to add some visual interest. And still the card was too plain. So I added the sentiment in a repeating pattern. Much better! Finally I finished the card with a die cut butterfly and rhinestones. My grandmother's favorite color is purple and she likes butterflies. I really hope that she loves this card.

Mason Jar Gift Tags

Today's card is being featured on Stylin' Stampin' Inkspiration. The challenge was to create gift tags. Now I've done a ton of birthday gift tags, but what about other types of tags? I wanted to incorporate tags into the special gifts for the retreat attendees. Twice a year, I help organize a weekend retreat for members of my mom's group. I always include some extra surprises. Last year, I went with modified monogramed notebooks and monogram note cards. This year, I want to make individual mason jar desserts. A gift tag would look perfect with the mason jars.  After playing around a bit, I decided to make tags for mason jars.

I decided to use my new Homemade for You stamp set. Perfect for packaging up little goodies or in this case, yummy desserts. I stamped the polka dot background stamp in the same ink color as the cardstock. I love the tone of tone look. From there I picked a coordinating color and piece of pattern paper to make my flower embellishment. I can't wait until October to give this out! Below is the complete collection of tags:

  • Stamps: Homeamde for You
  • Inks: Staz-on Black; Pool Party; Calypso Coral; Perfect Plum; Mint Macaron, Daffodil Delight; Old Olive; Pacific Point; Watermelon Wonder
  • Cardstock: Pretty Petals DSP; Pool Party; Calypso Coral; Perfect Plum; Mint Macaron; Daffodil Delight; Old Olive; Watermelon Wonder; Very Vanilla
  • Accessories: Gold 1/8" Ribbon

DSP Feature: Pretty Petals

Today's card is being featured on Stylin' Stampin' Inkspiration and uses my new favorite DSP stack. Our project today was to use one of SU's Designer Series Papers. So far, I've only bought three DSP packs from the new catalog. While I love Typeset and Cherry on Top, my current favorite to use is Pretty Petals. I love the mix of colors and different floral patterns. No froo froo flowers here. Instead, we get some interesting designs and even some greenery. Love it!

The patterned paper that I used is from the same sheet. I just decided to use both sides mainly because I couldn't pick one. I saw another card on Pinterest that played with layers and cut-outs. I had to do my own version. I think the Floral Frames Framelits fit perfectly with the patterns in the paper. A nice coordinating sentiment and a few candy dots and my card is complete!
