Fresh Prints Patterns

I pulled out my new I Like You hostess stamp set with the intention of creating a great background pattern for a card. I started working and things took a slightly different turn.

Card Inspiration from Cards and Scrapping

I wanted to recreate the inspiration card, but then my hands went in a slightly different direction.  I did use the I Like You stamps to create a background pattern for the card.  But I added a lot more layers and a different sentiment style.  Overall this card looks much better in person.  You can actually see the layers in person.  The photo looks too flat.  But I promise this does look nice.

Feathered Flower Take 2

For my August swap card, I decided to modify the Fall Feather Flower from yesterday.

I choose the 2013-2015 In Colors as my swap recipient loves those colors.  I cut down on the number of petals (feathers) to decrease the bulk of the card.  This worked much better.  I added some sparkly feathers throughout to give the flower a bit more visual interest.  The sentiment stayed the same, but was inked in a coordinating color.  After I finished, I thought there was just too much white space.  Adding a punched up silver sparkly butterfly completed the card.  I hope she likes it!

  • Stamps: Hello There
  • Inks: Strawberry Slush
  • Cardstock: Crisp Cantaloupe; Silver Glimmer Paper; Whisper White; 2013-2015 In Color DSP
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Feathers Framelits; Bitty Butterfly Punch; 1 1/4" Circle Punch

Fall Feathered Flower

Holiday Catalog Sneak Peek! I found a sample card on Pinterest using petals and various DSP to make a layered flower.  I knew i wanted to create a similar card, but using some of the new Color Me Autumn DSP.

I spent a ridiculous amount of time die cutting all those individual feathers from the Color Me Autumn DSP.  I then attempted to vary the patterns and colors in a layered feather design.  Unfortunately the layers ended up creating quite a bit of bulk.  It worked, but made it difficult to add the circle sentiment at the end.  This definitely looks better in person as you can distinguish the patterns better.  Overall, an interesting design.

  • Cardstock: Whisper White; Crumb Cake; Color Me Autumn DSP

Sunday Haul #12

A couple of acquisitions this week... I received my August Take Ten kit.  This one wasn't as exciting as some previous months, but I do dig the cards in this kit.

I went to Michael's for snail and came out with snail (thankful I remembered!) and the new PL Heidi Swapp My Favorite Things kit.  I wasn't going to buy another PL kit, but so many bloggers showed off the pretties that I had to buy it when I saw two on the shelf.  Really loving the design of this kit.

Lastly, I subscribed to the Paper Issues monthly Swag Bag Kit.  I didn't need a ton of cards, but I liked the idea of a bunch of random embellishments.  I'm trying to be more varied in my Project Life spreads and I think this kit is my answer.

Sparkly Four Feathers

I found this beautiful card that was featured at Convention.  I knew I had to make my own version of it!

Card Inspiration from SU 2014 Convention featured on Stamp Your Art Out

I changed up the placement of the sentiment and feathers a bit.  I wanted to use the sentiment from Kinda Eclectic, but it was too tall to put on top of the feathers.  It would have completely covered most of them!  Instead I made it a banner and placed it at the bottom of the card.  I also changed the colors, but kept the idea of a sparkly feather for the center.  The feathers and the sentiment banner are all popped up on dimensionals to give visual interest.

  • Inks: Strawberry Slush; Basic Gray
  • Cardstock: Coastal Cabana; 2013-2015 In Color DSP; Silver Glimmer Paper

New Discoveries #6: 30 Days of Lists

Have you heard about 30 Days Of Lists?  Created by Kam of Campfire Chic and Amy of Lemon and Raspberry, 30 Days of a Lists is a semi-annual journalling challenge.  In March and September, they provide you with one topic a day.  You then run off and create a list.  I've known about this for at least a year, but always found the idea scary.  How do I have time to create beautiful embellished lists everyday for a month?  I thought it couldn't be done.  But then this year as August rolled around and registration opened, I realized that I didn't have to make my lists complicated.  I didn't have to do a separate album or embellish everything.  I could add the lists to my regular PL album.  I could even prep the cards ahead of time.  That way, all I need to do for the day is write my list.  I figure that if I have time, I will embellish.  But if no, no big deal.  Here are my prepped cards using already owned PL cards (most from WRMK), some numeral stickers, and a journaling pen.

If you want to join me on this great challenge, head on over to 30 Days of Lists and register!

Sea Street Non-nautical Colors

Two more cards from Friday night's crafting session.  These two I CASEd directly from the source.  I really enjoyed the design and the non-nautical colors.  Both cards feature paper from the Moonlight DSP stack.  Really loving those color combinations.  And I was excited to use the Sea Street stamp set with something beyond red and blue.

Card #1

Card Inspiration from Creations Habsgirl22

My version

I love how this one turned out.  I CASEd the card, but slightly changed the placement of the pieces, the patterns for the banners, and the octopus ink color.  I love the appearance of water with the Lost Lagoon patterned pattern and the Hello Honey fish add just the right about of visual interest for the octopus.

  • Stamps: Sea Street
  • Inks: Blackberry Bliss; Hello Honey
  • Cardstock: Lost Lagoon; Whisper White; Moonlight DSP
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Circle Framelits; Banner Punch

Card #2

Card Inspiration from Natalie Bradley

My version

For my second non-nautical color card, I loved the clean and simple look of the original card so much, I had to CASE it.  I changed up the sentiment and didn't add the background stamped image.  Overall I adore this card.  I love the combo of Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, and Basic Gray.  Very cute and easy!

Sea Street Classic Nautical

Last Friday I went to our (area demos) monthly crafting night and crafted up a storm.  I ended up only making 6 cards, but I'm really loving those six cards.  Today I'm sharing two card featuring the Sea Street Stamp Set in classic nautical colors.

Card #1

Card Inspiration from Michele Reynolds at Inspiration Ink

My version

I ended up CASEing this one directly.  I loved her design so much, I wanted a card just like it.  I did change the DSP paper as I don't have the Maritime DSP (must rectify with next order!).  And I didn't have her "Happy Day" stamp, so I just wrote "Hi" on my little flag.  Still turned out really nice!

  • Stamps: Sea Street
  • Inks: Night of Navy; Real Red; Coastal Cabana
  • Cardstock: Real Red; Night of Navy; Coastal Cabana; Whisper White; Fresh Prints DSP (retired)
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Journaling Pen; Banner Punch

Card #2

The second card was just me playing around with the Fresh Prints DSP stack (still have so much leftover!) and seeing what I could pair with the same classic nautical colors.  I used one of the circle framelits but thought it looked too plain by itself.  Add a starburst framelit layer in a red pattern and suddenly the card is complete!

  • Stamps: Sea Street; I Like You
  • Inks: Night of Navy; Real Red; Coastal Cabana
  • Cardstock: Real Red; Night of Navy; Coastal Cabana; Whisper White; Fresh Prints DSP (retired)
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Circle Framelits; Starburst Framelits
