Feminine Friday

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a feminine card. I tend towards bright colors and geometric designs. So here's another challenge to my usual style. I wanted to use a few of my pastel ink pads. These three are a great combination. Some paint swatches and butterflies help to fill out the card. I love how this card turned out.

Fancy Folds Class - Part 1

In May I held a class featuring four cards with fancy folds. I tend to keep the same style of cards, but decided this was a great chance to learn some new techniques.

Card #1

To make this great card, cut your base cardstock to 5 1/2" by 11".  Score at 2 1/8", flip around and score at 2 1/8". From there fold the smaller scored pieces inward. Decorate the front and inside of the card and it's finished.

I chose to use some of my leftover All Abloom DSP as my base palette. The big cut-out butterfly and coordinating stamped butterflies add that extra touch.

  • Stamps: Hello Darling (retired); Papillon Potpurri
  • Inks: Strawberry Slush (retired); Blushing Bride
  • Cardstock: Daffodil Delight; Pistachio Pudding (retired); Blushing Bride; All Abloom DSP (retired)
  • Accessories: Daffodil Delight Ribbon; Jewels
  • Tools: Butterfly Thinlits

Card #2

The trick to this card or any cut out card is to place your framelit off the cardstock. I love the layered look of these floral frames. Simple card but very cute. I don't have a specific measurement for this card, I just folded the paper and lined up my framelit.

  • Stamps: Itty Bitty Banners (retired)
  • Inks: Blackberry Bliss
  • Cardstock: Blackberry Bliss; Moonlight DSP (retired)
  • Accessories:
  • Tools: Floral Frames Framelits (retired); Itty Bitty Framelits (retired)

Retiring Series: I Like You and Park Lane

The new catalog is coming... But before we get there, I'm highlighting some of my favorite retiring stamp sets and retiring DSP. I Like You is one of my favorite stamp sets. I love being able to customize the coloring of the flower bunches. This has so many possibilities! For this card, I took my colors from the Park Lane DSP. I went with Blackberry Bliss, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Crushed Curry, and Calypso Coral to complete the flowers. Layering the flowers onto some basic coordinating cardstock makes them pop against the busy DSP background.

  • Stamps: I Like You
  • Inks: Blackberry Bliss; Mossy Meadow; Old Olive; Crushed Curry; Calypso Coral
  • Cardstock: Blackberry Bliss; Calypso Coral; Crushed Curry; Old Olive; Park Lane DSP
  •  Accessories:
  • Tools: Circles Framelits

Retiring Series: Hip Notes and Flashback

The new catalog is coming... But before we get there, I'm highlighting some of my favorite retiring stamp sets and retiring DSP. Hip Notes is one of those great sentiment stamp sets that I find myself using a lot. I will miss the stamps, especially the large block "Thanks."  This card features a ton of layers but is a great way to highlight the different patterns in the Flashback DSP pack. I stamped two of the Hip Notes sentiments onto a piece of Very Vanilla. However that piece still seemed a little plain. I added three candy dots in Pool Party, Crushed Curry, and Real Red and suddenly the card was perfect.

  • Stamps: Hip Notes
  • Inks: Real Red; Pool Party
  • Cardstock: Crushed Curry; Smokey Slate; Flashback DSP
  • Accessories: Candy dots
  • Tools:

Another Thank You Set

I have too many scraps of pattern paper. Solution... make a set of fun thank you cards for my friend's wedding. She has gotten so many great gifts already, she needs a ton of thank you cards to send out. I took a giant pile of pattern paper and started punching out hexagons. After amassing a huge pile, I started do random patterns on pieces of white paper.

Some the cards ended up being almost monochromatic. Some were varied colors.

I ended up loving all the different variations of cards and I used a ton of scrap paper pieces. Plus, my friend now has a ton of thank you cards to use.

For my friend's bachelorette party, I made these cute little thank you cards for the favor bags. You'll never guess where I found the paper... Target Dollar Spot!  They have some cute Easter and spring themed papers right now. I added a bit of washi tape, a sentiment, and enamel dots to finish off the look.

Sale-a-Bration Simply Wonderful Cards

Any two great cards featuring Sale-a-Bration products. Initially I wasn't super excited about the Simply Wonderful stamp set. It looked a little too plain for me. But then the nice sentiments really grew on me.

Card #1

A nice and simple card highlighting some of the great SAB DSP.

  • Stamps: Simply Wonderful
  • Inks: Calypso Coral
  • Cardstock: Best Year Ever DSP; Basic Gray

Card #2

For my second card, I wanted to play around with color and pattern. I had the tag mostly white, but it looked way too plain. My stripe decorative mask came to the rescue adding just enough visual interest to complete the card.

  • Inks: Calypso Coral; Hello Honey
  • Cardstock: Best Year Ever DSP; Crushed Curry
  • Accessories: Beach House Washi Tape
  • Tools: Scallop Tag Punch; Stripe Mask

Day #30 and #31

We found out this week that we will be moving before I leave for Thanksgiving in Indiana.  That means that we have only three weeks to pack and organize everything plus get ready to travel across the country.  I decided that cards for days 30 and 31 weren't all that important with the craziness schedule coming.  I finished 29 cards and so I'm calling it for the month.
