FF #17 Outdoor Festivals

Outdoor Festivals

It's summer in California.  That means art and music festivals  This would be the perfect outfit to wear to either.  I love the detail on the skirt.  The bright colored cardigan reminds me of fun summer.

FF #15: Pride and Prejudice: Georgiana Darcy

Pride and Prejudice: Georgiana Darcy

Georgiana isn't a flashy person, but she definitely has her own style.  She's young, rich, and quirky.  I love the lace top contrasted with the Chucks and suede jacket.  If I was 15, I would wear this outfit in a heartbeat.  Very cute!

FF #14: Pride and Prejudice: Caroline Bingley

Pride and Prejudice: Caroline Bingley

It doesn't matter what the event is, Caroline Bingley must be elegant.  I had to pick something feminine and dressy for Caroline to wear.  While I would never wear this outfit, mostly because I would trip walking in those shoes, I do like the combination.  For the most part, this outfit is understated.  However, you get the orange heels to draw attention.  And she has to have her Chanel bag for a bit of timeless class.

FF #13: Pride and Prejudice: Kitty Bennet

Pride and Prejudice: Kitty Bennett

Kittty's not as crazy as Lydia, but she still tries to imitate Lydia.  So I chose pieces that reflect Lydia's outfit, but a bit toned down.  I love this dress!  It seems perfect for a slightly wild teenager.  I think the jacket, while red, tones down the wild print.  The wedges are appropriately high.  And to top it off I gave Kitty some cute, youthful accessories.

FF #12: Pride and Prejudice: Lydia Bennet

Pride and Prejudice: Lydia Bennett

Awww... Lydia.  The wild child in the Bennet family.  I had to pick something outrageous for her to wear.  The longer I look at this outfit, the more I am reminded of Minnie Mouse, but that's okay.  Somehow I think Lydia would approve.  As a side note, I would actually wear more of this outfit, just not all together.

FF #11: Pride and Prejudice: Mary Bennet

Pride and Prejudice: Mary

Mary is fairly background.  She doesn't like to stand out.  She prefers to read or play piano.  So, I picked an outift that feels very basic to me.  I especially love the Chucks, pulls everything together.

FF #10: Pride and Prejudice: Elizabeth Bennet

Pride and Prejudice: Elizabeth Bennett

Lizzie is not quite as demure as Jane, but definitely not as wild as Lydia or Kitty.  But overall, she has a very quirky sense of style.  Polished, but funky.  I love the color palette; very earthly but fun.  I think the bag pulls the entire look together.

FF #9: Pride and Prejudice: Jane Bennet

Pride and Prejudice: Jane Bennett

A mini series within Fashion Friday.  I decided to create outfits based on the women of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.  I'm starting with Jane.  Jane is a sweet romantic.  I always picture her in flowy outfits referencing Georgian dress.  This skirt and lace top combo is so sweet.  The shoes, bag, and bangles bring the outfit squarely into the 21st century.  As a side note, I would totally wear this outfit.

FF #7: Summer in Cali

Summer in Cali

I love the freshness of this outfit.  Summer in my part of California is warm, but not scorchingly hot.  We love our layers around here.  The pants look so comfortable.  The sweater is the perfect layering element in case the temp drops a bit.  And I especially love the combo of mint and pink.  It adds some great color pops for the eye.

Cocktail Party in My Fave Color

I woud never wear this outfit.  Okay, I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing this outfit.  I would have to lose 30 pounds and somehow get better legs.  But I must say that I love the draping and the color.  The shoes add some personality and the clutch to too fun.

FF #5: Classic Comfy Casual

Classic Comfy Casual

This is an outfit that I would wear everyday.  I love the easy nature of jeans and a fun shirt (in this case, a fun dress).  Short dresses are usually too short on me.  Instead I use them as tunics or just extra long shirts.  The bag is utilitarian but fun.  The sneakers are classic.  And the hat is an interesting addition...

FF #4: Springtime Lunch Date

Springtime Lunch Date

I've been gravitating to flowy romantic pieces lately.  How adorable is this top? I love that the florals are completely "in your face flowers" but have a subtle romance.  And the skirt has enough detail to not compete with the romance up top. I threw in the cardigan for those slightly chilly days up in the city.  Walking shoes are a must.  And how could I resist a purple purse?  Must add!

FF #3: Night at the Oscars

Night at the Oscars

I'm such a girl.  I love pretty dresses and shoes.  And yet, I never wear them.  For this week's fashion Friday, I thought I would make an Oscar worthy outfit.  I love the draping of the green dress.  It has a Greecian goddess feel to me.  The shoes at the requisite sparkle.  And even if the night it warmer, a cute little fur capelet adds just the right amount of class.

FF #2: Flea Market Outting

Flea Market Outting

I can see wearing this one if I had better legs (hardy har har).  The top is flirty and feminine, but the shorts are really the focal point.  I love the sailor details with the buttons.  The addition of the plaid purse gives the outfit some interesting pattern.  And comfortable flats are a must.

Fashion Friday #1: Weekend Getaway to Wine Country

I'm kicking off a new series here on my blog.  Fridays are now Fashion Fridays...  I love fashion, but am never comfortable with pictures of myself.  Instead, I have fallen in love with Polyvore and the ability to create cute outfits.  Every Friday I will be showcasing a new outfit I have created.  I even have the idea of some inspired by series.  Look for those soon.

Weekend Getaway to Wine Country

My first attempt at Polyvore was the suggested template "Weekend Getaway."  We live in the San Francisco Bay Area.  One of my favorite areas is just north of the Bay: Wine Country.  Wine country calls for comfortable but stylish clothes and a jacket (it tends to be cooler up there than at home in South Bay).  I love the pop of color with the bag.  Just my style!

Stitch Fix Number 4

I came across Stitch Fix on Loop Looks (check her out!).  For $20 a shipment, you get a personalized style pack of five items.  Then, you try everything on and decide to keep 1, 2, 3, 4, or all 5 items.  The $20 stylist fee is credited to your purchase.  And if you buy all five items, you get an extra 25% off.  The company is currently in beta, but I was lucky enough to get an invite.

My last Stitch Fix didn't go so well.  I didn't like anything and sent the entire box back.  I decided to try again after my health debacles.  I had butterflies in my stomach in anticipation of what goodies I would find after opening. And I wasn't disappointed.

Here's what I got this time... (Ignore the horrid quality iPhone photos)

Item #1: Striped scarf

Pros: So soft!  Beautiful design.

Cons: I live in California (and not the cold part).  If I bought this, I would have limited chances to wear it.

Item #2: Navy pintuck blouse

Pros: Loved the fit.  Loved the color.  Easy to dress up or dress down.

Cons: Just a bit short.

Item #3: Purple silk blouse

Pros: The color!!!!  Beautiful color for a shirt.

Cons: Silk is hard to care for.  Overall it's a bit short.

Item #4: Cream tank top

Pros: Nothing, hated it.

Cons: Short, tight in weird places, don't like the look.

Item #5: Cream ruched cardigan

Pros: Very soft.  Very comfortable.  Easy to layer for cooler nights and warmer days.

Cons: The side ruching is a bit weird (but I could get used to this).  The price is a bit much.

So, what did I keep?

Item #2 Navy pintuck blouse.  I figure that I can add this into multiple outfits.  And the cut is very flattering.  Ignore the bad picture, it is beautiful.

Stitch Fix Tres

I came across Stitch Fix on Loop Looks (check her out!).  For $20 a shipment, you get a personalized style pack of five items.  Then, you try everything on and decided to keep 1, 2, 3, 4, or all 5 items.  The $20 stylist fee is credited to your purchase.  And if you buy all five items, you get an extra 25% off.  The company is currently in beta, but I was lucky enough to get an invite.

Here's what I got this time...

Item #1: Silver loop earrings

Pros: Gorgeous. Just my style.

Cons: I don't have pierced ears...

Item #2: Pink smock top

Pros: Love the design and color.

Cons: Short short short.  I really think you need to have a torso 3 inches shorter to wear this.

Item #3: Three collar blouse

Pros: Loved the design and the material.

Cons: Another ridiculously short shirt.

Item #4: Crochet back dress

Pros: Pretty

Cons: Couldn't get it over my head.  Ridiculously small

Item #5: Cropped beige blazer

Pros: Loved the design.  Could be a versatile piece.

Cons: My shoulders are much too wide to fit in it.

So, what did I keep?

..

Nothing...  I don't know if it's just the pregnancy, but nothing looked good on me.  So, this was my last stitch fix until after baby comes.

Stitch Fix Time

Here's what I got this time...

Item #1: Silver small square necklace

Pros: Very cute.  Definitely my style.

Cons: A bit expensive.  I also have a ton of necklaces.

Item #2: Deep v-neck cinched waist tank

Pros: Very cute.

Cons: Makes me look a bit pregnant.  Better pants could probably help.  Deep v requires a tank underneath.

Item #3: Flared back tank

Pros: Pretty color. Interesting back.

Cons: Odd fit.  Interesting back (don't know if it's my style)

Item #4: Bright racerback tank

Pros:  Great summer colors.  Can dress up or down.

Cons: Pic makes me look a bit pregnant.  I need to wear different pants with this shirt. These jeans are really low riding.  Ignore the bad lighting...

Item #5: Hi-lo Tank

Pros: Fun light fabric.

Cons: Short in the front.  A bit tight around the arms.

So, what did I keep?
