Tranquil Typewriter

Retiring Banner.png

Today’s card features the retiring P.S. You’re the Best Stamp Set, Tranquil Textures DSP, Scattered Sequins Embossing Folder, and Tranquil Tide and Fresh Fig In Colors. I seriously love the typewriter stamp set and don’t think I will be selling it after it retires. I need it in my life! For this card, I stamped a few pieces and constructed my own typewriter with simple message. From there, I took the colors and layered some dsp plus an embossed piece of dsp onto my coordinating cardstock. I really love the color combination of Tranquil Tide and Fresh Fig. I will definitely miss these! Thankfully our new Pretty Peacock In Color is similar to Tranquil Tide (although more blue than green). And I still have Blackberry Bliss for a dark purple.

Polka Dots and Stripes

Today’s card is a CASE from Deb Naylor @ The Flying Stamper. I loved the simplicity of the design added with the color blocking and embossed texture. I just had to make my own. I changed the card only to fit my own supplies, but I had to keep the main elements the same.

Trio of Ladies

Today’s cards have been sitting half done for months now. I had a whole stack of these unfinished cards and took a Saturday to knock them out. I had the Regal Rose card bases and smaller pieces cut for a previous card, but had sold the stamp set that I used for those cards. SO I improvised with a different stamp set. I stamped three different images from the Hand Delivered Stamp Set and had some fun coloring them.

SSINKCC54: Leaves and Tea

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the following colors:

44391605_10156253932421725_6878047248714825728_o.jpg

I pulled out the colors and pondered the direction of my card. I knew I wanted to use the Making Everyday Bright leaves to decorate and adorn something. I paired the leaves with the Time for Tea stamp set to create a card full of leaves and a cup of tea. I then finished out my card by adding more texture (embossing folder, ribbon) and visual interest.

CASEing Cheryl

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to CASE a card from fellow Design Team member Cheryl Hamilton! I picked this cute baby kangaroo card to CASE.  I loved the layout and kept most of those elements. But I changed out everything else. I wanted to make a fun autumn card to celebrate the first week of November. My circle framelit doesn’t quite fit, but I love the elements of my main piece. If you look closely, you can see pops of Blackberry Bliss and Mint Macaron to balance out the palette.

Soup and a Card

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card and feature a soup of the day recipe. I love when the weather cools down just enough to enjoy a giant pot of soup. One of my favorite soup recipes is for Sausage, Potato, Spinach soup. It’s a hearty soup with just the right amount of spice for my spicy husband. I took the recipe from Damn Delicious and it really is!

IMG_8932.jpg

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 pound spicy Italian sausage, casing removed

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 onion, diced

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, optional

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

5 cups chicken broth

1 bay leaf

1 pound red potatoes, diced

3 cups baby spinach

1/4 cup heavy cream

Directions:

Heat olive oil in a large stockpot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add Italian sausage and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the sausage as it cooks; drain excess fat.

Stir in garlic, onion, oregano, basil and red pepper flakes. Cook, stirring frequently, until onions have become translucent, about 2-3 minutes; season with salt and pepper, to taste.

Stir in chicken broth and bay leaf, and bring to a boil. Add potatoes and cook until tender, about 10 minutes.

Stir in spinach until it begins to wilt, about 1-2 minutes. Stir in heavy cream until heated through, about 1 minute; season with salt and pepper, to taste.

Serve immediately.

And while I love a good pot of soup, the weather outside also call for the perfect cup of tea. I decided to make a card featuring a great cup of tea! I really fell for the Tea Room Suite in the annual catalog and this is the perfect use of the suite!

Floral Cup of Happiness

Today’s card was featured at my fall Bingo event. I started with a general idea of a card and started adding tons of texture! I had seen a card featuring stamps floral images surrounding a pretty stitched shape framelit, but I realized that I didn’t have any of the floral stamps that I saw. So I improvised and fussy cut these beautiful shimmery flowers from the Frosted Floral DSP pack. I love the colors and textures on this card so much. If I had to pick, my favorite piece is the Tranquil Tide Velvet Ribbon. So beautiful and must touch!

#SSINKCC52: Polka Dot Birthday

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using the following colors:

36255767_10216596010471940_3520250694399426560_o.jpg

Color challenges are always so much fun and always stretch my creativity. For this card, I immediately knew I wanted to make a masculine birthday card, but played around with a lot of layers and layouts before deciding on this one. I wanted to keep the card simple but add some kind of dimension. Enter my stash of embossing folders. I love adding texture to cards through embossing folders. I went with Simple Stripes, but contrasted that with the polka dot paper. Love the simplicity of this card!

A Daisy Thank You

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using a variety of supplies sent to me by another team member. I received this great collection of elements from the wonderful Cathy Autrey!

6:29-1.jpg

And from those elements, I wanted to make a simple card that highlighted the stamped image and gorgeous DSP. I layered the pieces and decided to add a sentiment and an embossed piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock to finish out my card. Love how pretty this one ended up being.
