The penultimate trade collecting the fan-favorite story of love at the end of the world.  Collects EAST OF WEST #39-42

Oooofff that was one intense trade. We’re coming so close to the end, I can taste it. I loved how we got to see the previous showdown between the Four Horseman kicking off this apocalypse cycle. Plus we get some intriguing movement with many of the main characters. Not sure that I will be able to wait until this fall sometime for the end.

We catch up with Death and Babylon in this eighth volume of the bestselling series EAST OF WEST. Collects EAST OF WEST #35-38

Oh my goodness! This series is really keeping me on my toes. This volume slowed the story down just a bit to spend a lot of time with the horseman, the marshal, Death, Babylon, and the Endless Nation. We get a lot of good character interplay and some great panels. Really loved this volume but I really really need to see what happens! Who wins? Who survives, who dies? What is the meaning of the Message? Really love this series.

The final year of the apocalypse begins! Armies rage! Nations at War! A family fights to be reunited. Collects EAST OF WEST #30-34.

I got the next volume of one of my favorite comic series. Things are really coming to a head in this series. I'm guessing that there will be 10 volumes of the comics and things are getting super intense. Loving where this volume took us. So incredibly crazy!

East of West Vol. 5-6

Title: East of West Volume 5: All These Secrets, Volume 6

Author: Jonathan Hickman, Nick Dragotta

Publisher: Image 2016

Genre: Comics

Pages: 152; 144

Rating: 4/5 stars

The fifth volume of EAST of WEST marks the last days of peace before the final great war of the Apocalypse.

The smashing conclusion to the second year of the Apocalypse. Everything turns in on itself. The snake eats its tail. The old eat the young. A new chapter of the amazing End Times saga by superstar creators JONATHAN HICKMAN and NICK DRAGOTTA. Collects EAST OF WEST #25-29.

Things are finally coming together in this series. I feel like every volume has action, but often it's slow action when compared with the overall storyline. Excited to see things progress, especially in Volume 6. And we get the return of Babylon, finally! Although I have been missing the other three horsemen. They are absent except for one single page in Volume 5. Hoping Year Three of the Apocalypse is eventful!

East of West Vol. 2-4

Title: East of West Volume 2: We Are All One, Volume 3: There is No Us, Volume 4: Who Wants War?

Author: Jonathan Hickman, Nick Dragotta

Publisher: Image

Genre: Comics

Pages: 144; 144; 144

Rating: 5/5 stars

Reading Challenges: Graphic Novel The second volume of the most exciting new book in the industry is here! "We Are All One" follows our cast around the fractured future-scape of America as we learn more about a world that's rapidly coming to a end.

It's the third volume of the Eisner-nominated EAST OF WEST. "There Is No Us" sees the breaking apart of the future-scape of America as the world races forward towards the apocalypse."WHO WANTS WAR?" sees YEAR TWO of the Apocalypse kick into high gear.

I sped through the next three volumes of East of West in one day. They are just so good... I love where Hickman is the taking the story of the apocalypse. We get to see all the different players and their reactions to the actions of the Horsemen and Death. We finally get to see the progress of the Beast and the Prophet Orion. I am very intrigued by Balloon. And I want to hear more about the Endless Nation. Such great volumes. I can't wait to read the fifth volume.

East of West Vol. 1

Title: East of West Volume 1: The Promise

Author: Jonathan Hickman, Nick Dragotta

Publisher: Image 2013

Genre: Comics

Pages: 96

Rating: 5/5 stars

Reading Challenges: Graphic Novel

This is the world. It is not the one we wanted, but it is the one we deserved. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse roam the Earth, signaling the End Times for humanity, and our best hope for life, lies in DEATH!

Of the three random comics I grabbed off the library shelf, this is definitely the best series. I shouldn't be surprised. It's written by Jonathan Hickman who also wrote The Manhattan Projects. Instead of science, we focus on the supernatural embodied in the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. I was immediately pulled into the world. Fascinating! An alternate history with some interesting supernatural bits throw in... Must read the next volume.

Reading Challenges: Read My Own Damn Books; Graphic Novel

What if the research and development department created to produce the first atomic bomb was a front for a series of other, more unusual, programs?

It's the fourth volume of the world's greatest secret science history, The Manhattan Projects! "The Four Disciplines" follows our fractured cast as they focus on their own diverse, secret experiments and global power plays resulting in inevitable betrayal.

It's the fifth volume of the world's greatest secret science history, The Manhattan Projects. "The Cold War" reveals the dark days of the 'real' Cuban Missile Crisis, the assassination of an American President, and the end of the Manhattan Projects-Star City alliance.

Three more awesome volumes of The Mahattan Projects. So many twists and turns. The storyline wraps up a few threads and begins a few others. Plus, we get to see what happens to the Soviet-American alliance and what's out there in space. I sped through these three volumes on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to see what happens next!!!

Genre: Graphic Novel

Pages: 152

Reading Challenges: Read My Own Damn Books; Graphic Novel; Popsugar - Graphic novel

"THEY RULE" The second amazing volume of the SCIENCE, BAD book of the new millennium. The battle for global supremacy is underway and the bad men of the Manhattan Projects will only accept one outcome: World domination Collecting issues #6-10 the coolest new series of the year into one super science package.

Another interesting alt-history volume. I really enjoyed seeing the Soviets and the Americans work together against the great evils (internal and external). As if Volume 1, my favorite characters is Feynman. Love his naiveté and energy. He's a great counterpoint to Fermi and Einstein. Plus we get some great backstory into the how the Soviets acquired some of their technology. Can't wait to read Volume 3.
