Quilted Layers

Today’s card was created for a friend’s craft retreat. I wanted to so something fairly easy yet with lots of fun textures. I started with embossing a piece of same color cardstock as the card base. From there I added some pieces of fun DSP. Seriously love the colors and patterns in the new Needlepoint Nook DSP pack. From there I added some ribbon for more texture and fun sequins. I finished my card off with a great sentiment made even better by sponging on some ink to highlight a few words. In total, I made six different color and pattern combos for the craft retreat.

Sunday Haul #3

I got another great order from Fabulously Planned. I love her kits a lot and took advantage of a great sale a few weeks back. That March monthly kit is a dream!

Galvanized Butterflies

Today’s card was inspired by all the Holiday catalog cards that featured a beautiful metallic embossed background piece. I had to recreate but with some fun spring elements! I love how the Quilt Top embossing folder raised this card up to the next level. Beyond the embossed piece, I wanted to feature my new favorite color: Highland Heather. It screams spring to me. Love it!

December Daily 2018

Warning: Photo Heavy Post

For this year’s December Daily, I moved out of the family Project Life album and put the pages into their own 6”x8” red polka dot album. I loved the freedom of traditional scrapbooking as opposed to pocket pages. I loved pulling random items from my stash to use. I did buy the Elle’s Studios December Documented Kit, a past Kelly Purkey December Daily Mini Kit from Ali Edwards, and some stickers and die cuts.

Step It Up with Cake

Today’s cards were part of my Step It Up Class. Basically you take one card and then remake with more (or step it up). Here are the two cards side-by-side:

1:28-1.jpg

For the first card, I started with the idea to feature the various cakes from the Piece of Cake stamp set on a simple background. I stamped, colored, and die cut my cakes before adding a background pattern stamp and sentiment to my white layer. It’s a nice simple card just the way it is.

1:28-2.jpg

But then I stepped the card up! I swapped out the white layer for a piece of Twinkle Twinkle DSP on top of a piece of coordinating Smoky Slate cardstock. From there I added a piece of beautiful Tranquil Tide Velvet Ribbon under my sentiment strip. Finally, I added some embellishment to the cakes. It’s hard to see in this photo, but I added. few pearls to the top left cake and some clear Wink of Stella to the top right and bottom left cakes. Overall, this card has that extra something.

  • Stamps: Piece of Cake; Playful Backgrounds

  • Inks: Rich Razzleberry; Smoky Slate; Tranquil Tide; Mint Macaron; Sweet Sugarplum (retired)

  • Cardstock: Twinkle Twinkle DSP; Smoky Slate; Rich Razzleberry; Tranquil Tide; Whisper White

  • Accessories: Pearls; Tranquil Tide Velvet Ribbon

  • Tools: Stitched Shapes Framelits; Wink of Stella

  • Schedule February and March Classes and Events —Carrying over this goal to knock it out.

  • Finish 2017 in Quentin’s PL Album — I don’t think it will take me long to get through March - December 2017.

Step It Up with Blooms

Today’s cards were part of my Step It Up Class. Basically you take one card and then remake with more (or step it up). Here are the two cards side-by-side:

2:1-1.jpg

For the first card, I started with a piece of heavy cardstock to create my Brusho background. I stamped my bloom in black ink, added some blue, green, and yellow Brusho crystals and spritzed with water. While that dried, I added a piece of similarly colored DSP and a simple sentiment.

2:1-3.jpg

But then I stepped the card up! I swapped out the white layer for a piece of Garden Impressions DSP. I made sure to prep an extra bloom with Brusho crystals to then cut out and layer. After adding the sentiment, I finished of the card with a piece of slightly sparkly black satin ribbon.

2:1-2.jpg

  • Stamps: Beautiful Day

  • Inks: Shaded Spruce; Black Memento Ink; Blue, Green, and Yellow Brusho Crystals

  • Cardstock: Garden Impressions DSP; Shaded Spruce; Whisper White

  • Accessories: Basic Black 3/8” Shimmer Ribbon

Currently

Currently.png

Reading: Code Girls by Liza Mundy. I’m over 50% through the book and so far, it’s really good.

Watching: Finishing out our month of movies this week.

Listening: I’ve listened to a few more episodes of Presidential. I’m up to Zachary Taylor. I’ve known a lot of the information presented, but I still find them enjoyable.

Making: I dove back into Quentin’s Project Life album which was stalled in March 2017. I just got my page protectors so I can continue this week.

Feeling: I’m not sure why, but I’m feeling very unmoored this week. Must find a way to stabilize myself.

Planning: Nick and Alex’s 16th birthday is coming up soon. We’re figuring out what kind of party/adventure they want to have.

Loving: I’ve been finding more snipped of time to read more lately. Love it so much!

FMS372: Balmy Butterflies

Today’s card was created using Freshly Made Sketches #372. I just love the simplicity of the design. So many directions I could have gone!

FMS372.jpg

For my card, I started with a strip of Bermuda Bay Glimmer Paper and worked from there. I coordinated that strip with a piece of the Gingham Gala DSP in Balmy Blue and cute out some cute butterflies from the Botanical Butterfly DSP pack (SAB item!). I finished off my card with a cute sentiment and some fun sequins. Love this card!
