Sunday Haul #20

In the midst of moving, I made a small Stampin’ Up! order with some colorful goodies! I picked up a Crushed Curry reinker, Garden Green Baker’s Twine, Poppy Parade Ink Pad, Brights Markers, and Call Me Clover Blends.

I also received my planner sticker order from Nerd’s the Word Sticker Co. I love her kits and functional stickers. So I got a mix of both and earned myself a free sheet and a fun add-on for her PR Girl Battle.

Soup and a Card

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card and feature a soup of the day recipe. I love when the weather cools down just enough to enjoy a giant pot of soup. One of my favorite soup recipes is for Sausage, Potato, Spinach soup. It’s a hearty soup with just the right amount of spice for my spicy husband. I took the recipe from Damn Delicious and it really is!

IMG_8932.jpg

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 pound spicy Italian sausage, casing removed

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 onion, diced

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, optional

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

5 cups chicken broth

1 bay leaf

1 pound red potatoes, diced

3 cups baby spinach

1/4 cup heavy cream

Directions:

Heat olive oil in a large stockpot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add Italian sausage and cook until browned, about 3-5 minutes, making sure to crumble the sausage as it cooks; drain excess fat.

Stir in garlic, onion, oregano, basil and red pepper flakes. Cook, stirring frequently, until onions have become translucent, about 2-3 minutes; season with salt and pepper, to taste.

Stir in chicken broth and bay leaf, and bring to a boil. Add potatoes and cook until tender, about 10 minutes.

Stir in spinach until it begins to wilt, about 1-2 minutes. Stir in heavy cream until heated through, about 1 minute; season with salt and pepper, to taste.

Serve immediately.

And while I love a good pot of soup, the weather outside also call for the perfect cup of tea. I decided to make a card featuring a great cup of tea! I really fell for the Tea Room Suite in the annual catalog and this is the perfect use of the suite!

September 2018 Memory Planner

I took all my Memory Planning supplies with me to Indiana. As we are just hanging out while our stuff travels across the country, I had some time to do a bit of crafting. I am missing two photos in the last week, but it will get them printed in my next batch. I also somehow forgot to do my Monthly Stats day at the end of the month, so I will put it on October 1st.

Frosted Cheers

Today’s card was featured at my Fall Bingo event. This card turned out more simple than I intended, but I have to say that I like the result. You can’t quite see the details, but the white background pane is shimmery to connect with the shimmery Frosted Floral DSP.

Floral Cup of Happiness

Today’s card was featured at my fall Bingo event. I started with a general idea of a card and started adding tons of texture! I had seen a card featuring stamps floral images surrounding a pretty stitched shape framelit, but I realized that I didn’t have any of the floral stamps that I saw. So I improvised and fussy cut these beautiful shimmery flowers from the Frosted Floral DSP pack. I love the colors and textures on this card so much. If I had to pick, my favorite piece is the Tranquil Tide Velvet Ribbon. So beautiful and must touch!

Sky Full of Bats

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to create a card using our favorite Holiday Catalog Bundle. Usually I gravitate toward the Christmas bundles and stamps sets. While that is true this year, I also found myself coming back to the Spooky Sweets Bundle over and over. I love the simple bat and moon images. And I always love a coordinating punch! I just had to pick up this bundle to play with this season.

Wildlife Love

Today’s card is being featured on Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration. The challenge was to CASE a card from fellow DT member Darla Roberts! After looking at some of her previous cards (so cute by the way!), I stopped on this cute kitty in a pot card.  I loved the simplicity and fun colors of her card. And so I turned to making my own version of her card. Instead of the cat, I pulled out my Foxy Friends stamp set and created my main image. I switched the circles for squares and flipped my orientation. Lastly I kept the Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon because it is my current favorite accessory!

  • Inks: Soft Suede, Mint Macaron, Calypso Coral, Berry Burst

  • Cardstock: Wood Textures DSP, Berry Burst, Soft Suede, Whisper White
