Patterned Wedding Card

I had to make a wedding card for my friend but was stumped as to what to do. I wanted to incorporate her favorite color: purple. I ended up using one of my newer stamp sets: Your Perfect Day. I added some nice Something Borrowed for a neutral palette. But my favorite part is the stamped garlands. I love photopolymer stamps. They make stamp layering so easy. I love the colors and design.

  • Inks: Chocolate Chip; Perfect Plum; Wild Wasabi
  • Cardstock: Perfect Plum; Whisper White; Something Borrowed DSP
  • Accessories: Lavender ribbon

Bachelorette Party Invites

For the past month, I've been working on various projects for my friend's bridal shower. Last week, I detailed the invitations. This week I'm highlighting the Bachelorette Party Invitations. I went with a modern palette of pink (light and dark), black, lime green, and kraft brown for the shower invitations. This party called for something louder and brighter. I glanced through my card stock and settled on Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, and Rich Razzleberry. Nice and bright! These colors put together remind me of the Lisa Frank folders and trapper keepers I had in elementary school. Perfect throw back memory for a bunch of women in their early 30s.

The front side of the invites featured a fun coloring technique using the Irresistibly Yours DSP. This paper can be colored a variety of ways to show the white embossed design. I choose to create a starry night effect using my three ink colors. I simply sponged on each color into a random splotch pattern. After coloring, I took a baby wipe and gently wiped off the embossed areas until they were white again. I love the finished look! And each invite looks a little different. I added a stamped image from Your Perfect Day onto a die cut oval piece of cardstock. Simple but fun.

The back featured a piece of pattern DSP in one of the three colors behind the white cardstock with all the information. The back was looking a little plain so I added the stamped ring image. I had to fussy cut the rings, but they actually weren't too bad at all.

Wedding and a Baby

One of March-April's featured classes is Special Occasions. You often need a sympathy, congratulations, wedding, and baby card throughout the year, but don't usually make them. This class fixes that problem while using some great new products from SU!

Card #1

For the wedding card, I wanted to feature my new Butterfly Thinlits. This card has a lot going on without being overly complicated.

  • Stamps: Your Perfect Day
  • Inks: Crisp Cantaloupe; Crumb Cake
  • Cardstock: Crisp Cantaloupe; Sahara Sand; Whisper White; Something Borrowed DSP
  • Accessories: Roses
  • Tools: Butterfly Thinlits; Label die cuts

Card #2

The baby card highlights the new baby suite products from the Occasions catalog. The only piece I didn't use was the washi tape. I also have a version of this card in pink, yellow, and gray, and one in just yellow and gray.

  • Stamps: Little Sunshine
  • Inks: Basic Gray; Lost Lagoon
  • Cardstock: Whisper White; Sweet Dreams DSP
  • Accessories: Sweet Dreams buttons; Gray twine
  • Tools: Sweetheart Punch; Square Framelits

Bridal Shower Invitations

I am hosting my friend's bridal shower later this month. I had so many ideas of where to go with the theme, decor, food, and invites. I finally decided to sit down and commit to something. Her wedding color is purple, but for the invites I decided to go in a very different direction. I found this great washi tape and other decor accessories on sale at Michael's last week. I decided to build my invite color palette off of that that. So in Stampin' Up color terms, the party with be Strawberry Slush, Blushing Bride, Pistachio Pudding, Crumb Cake, and Black. Instead of a card that opens, I went with just a front and back design on one piece of cardstock. The final result ended up being as thick as a card, but doesn't open. The back is pretty simplistic. I layered on a piece of Pistachio, Blushing, or Strawberry onto the Kraft paper. From there I added a piece of white stamped with the invite info and two pieces of washi tape. Each of the 36 invites looks a little different. I tried to mix up the combo of washi tapes and ink colors.

The front side has a lot more going on. I layered a piece of Strawberry or Pistachio DSP on top of the Kraft paper. Then I added a banner in the opposite color. The stamped banner is from Your Perfect Day. Initially that was all I was going to do, but the card looked too plain. A stamped Petal Potpurri flower and a Something Borrowed jewel complete the invite. I'll share photos of the event and decor after it happens later this month. I can't wait!
