Another Monday and another cover. This is becoming a bit of a trend. But I had to share this one with everyone. Panic at the Disco does an amazing cover of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" that just has to be watched!

A pretty eclectic mix this month...
John Mayer "Neon"
Flogging Molly "Screaming at the Wailing Wall"

Just stumbled upon this song over the weekend. Really loving these two voices together. And can't wait until the new season of The Voice.
Music Monday -- Taylor Christine "Fingers Crossed"
A daughter of a friend of ours just recorded her first EP. This lovely song is the title track. If you like it, jump on over to iTunes and buy it!

2. Mumford & Sons "Below My Feet"

Music Monday -- La Roux "Let Me Down Gently"
There's something about La Roux that just speaks to me. I'm really digging this song lately.
Lyrics:
Let me down gently
That's what I think I need
But when you let me down gently
It still feels it hard, hard
Turn me into someone good
That’s what I really need
Tel me that I’m someone good
So we’re not so far apart, apart
I hope it doesn't seem like I’m young, foolish and green
Let me in for a minute
You're not my life but I want you in it
Set me up I’m slowly
That’s what you do to me
Oh you set me up slowly
Now I can’t come down, down
Let me down gently
That's what I think you need
But when I let you down gently
And you try to hide your frowns, frowns
I hope it doesn't seem like I’m young, foolish and green
Let me in for a minute
You're not my life but I want you in it
And I hope it's sinking
Left behind your perfect skin
There’s a part of you that’s free
And I know there’s a place for me
Let me down gently
That's what I think I need
But when you let me down gently
It still feels it hard, hard
Turn me into someone good
That’s what I really need
Tel me that I’m someone good
So we’re not so far apart, apart
I hope it doesn't seem like I’m young and foolish and green
Let me in for a minute
You're not my life but I want you in it
And I hope it's sinking
Left behind your perfect skin
There’s a part of you that’s free
And I know there’s a place for me
Music Monday -- Plumb "Crazy"
A throwback song today from 1997. I saw Plumb open for Jars of Clay and immediately fell in love with them. This was my favorite song by them for the longest time.
Lyrics:
I know that you're on the inside
You know that I'm looking out
For me
You're sitting pretty
As I wallow in self-pity
And there's no coming back for me
[Chorus:]
You're crazy for thinking I'm above this
You're crazy for believing I don't care
You're crazy for thinking I'm below you
You're crazy, you're crazy
My ambition and every intention
Is to go where I shouldn't go
Pleasing to my eyes
Through a wretched reply
It's soothing to my soul.
Music Monday -- Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones "Kentucky"
Initially this collaboration just sounds odd, but strangely it works amazingly well. I love the difference in their voices.
Lyrics:
Kentucky
You are the dearest land outside of Heaven to me
Kentucky
I miss your laurel and your redbud trees
When I die,
I want to rest upon a graceful mountain so high
For that is
Where God will look for me
Kentucky
I miss the old folks singing in the silvery moonlight
Kentucky
I miss the hound dogs chasin’ coons
I know that
My mother, dad and sweetheart are waiting for me
Kentucky
I will be coming soon
Kentucky

Lyrics:
It’s 2 am so I just stopped the music I’m still swaying like I was on a cruise ship Took the words straight out of my mouth Come on everybody back to my house Take my hand now, you’re coming over It doesn’t matter you can sleep on my sofa Bring some fags and bring some rizzlers We’re gonna party like it’s nobody’s business
Let your hair down now It’s the end of the week And this is our time now Let’s forget everything And put your glad rags on Dressing up like we’re queens of the night
We just wanna dance the night away We don’t give a damn what people say We’ve had enough so turn it up Tonight we’re taking over And we will wear our drink 'til we lose our minds Wanna lose sense of space and time We’re going through, It’s how we do Tonight we’re taking over
I feel fly I’m looking kenzo I'll get high But I ain't doing benzos I might dance like your auntie I don’t care cause we’re here to party I got a quite good record collection Yeah I got everything that came out on Def jam I’ve got hip hop, I’ve got dub-step I’ll take us right through from sunrise to sunset
Let your hair down now It’s the end of the week And this is our time now Let’s forget everything And put your glad rags on Dressing up like we’re queens of the night
We just wanna dance the night away We don’t give a damn what people say We’ve had enough so turn it up Tonight we’re taking over And we will wear our drink 'til we lose our minds Wanna lose sense of space and time We’re going through, it’s how we do Tonight we’re taking over
Drink a little more and Dance a little harder Shout a little louder, if you like Move a little faster Stand a little taller Do whatever makes you feel alright
Drink a little more and Dance a little harder Shout a little louder if you like Move a little faster Stand a little taller Do whatever makes you feel alright
Go hard Go harder now Go hard Go harder now
We just wanna dance the night away We don’t give a damn what people say We've had enough so turn it up Tonight we’re taking over We will drink 'til we lose our minds Wanna lose sense of space and time We’re going through, it’s how we do Tonight we’re taking over
(Go harder) We just wanna dance the night away We don’t give a damn what people say We've had enough so turn it up Tonight we’re taking over (Go harder) And we will wear our drink til we lose our minds Wanna lose sense of space and time We’re going through, it’s how we do Tonight we’re taking over
Music Monday -- New Music Spring
More Alt Nation finds for this new music round-up.
Bastille "Bad Blood"
CHVRCHES "Recover"
Youngblood Hawke "We Come Running"
Music Monday -- Punch Brothers "Dark Days"
How did I not know that Chris Thile had a band besides Nickelcreek? Thankfully The Hunger Games soundtrack enlightened me. I immediately fell in love with this song. The lyrics are perfect for the movie. And the sound is very melodic. Love it!
Lyrics:
Mother, listen to my heart. Mother, listen to my heart, Just as one beat ends, another starts. You can hear no matter where you are Sister, hide our love away From the evil we both know.
[Chorus] It can see you through these dark days, Though they seem to darken as I go. Our love will see us through these dark, dark days sister, 'Til it lights the way back home. Sister, hide our love away.
It can turn the whole world upside down, Shake it 'til the sky falls to the ground. We don't have to reap the fear they sow, Friends, as long as we hide our love away, In the good they'll never know.
[Chorus] It can see us through these dark days, Though they seem to darken as we go. Our love will see us through these dark, dark days sister, 'Til it lights the way back home. Sister, hide our love away.
Mother, listen to my heart, Just as one beats ends, another starts. You can hear no matter where you are.
Music Monday -- Red "Ordinary World"
While I like the Duran Duran version, I've really been digging Red's version. Just a nice random song for this Monday.
Lyrics:
Came in from a rainy Thursday on the avenue thought I heard you talking softly I turned on the lights the TV and the radio but still I can't escape the ghost of you
What is happening to me crazy some would say Where is the life that I recognize, gone away
And I won't cry for yesterday there's an ordinary world somehow I have to find And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world I will learn to survive
Passion or coincidence once prompted you to say pride will tear us both apart Well now pride's gone out the window cross the rooftops, runaway Left me in the vacuum of my heart
What is happening to me crazy some will say where is my friend when I need you most gone away
But I won't cry for yesterday there's an ordinary world somehow I have to find And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world I will learn to survive
Papers in the roadside tell of suffering and grief Fear today forgot tomorrow beside the news of holy war and holy need Our's is just a little sorrowed talk, just blown away
And I won't cry for yesterday there's an ordinary world somehow I have to find And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world I will learn to survive Every world is my world (I will learn to survive) Any world is my world (I will learn to survive) Any world is my world, every world is our world, every world
Music Monday -- iPod Shuffle March
Two songs that work together and a complete odd ball for this week's shuffle. But I really do love all these songs.
OneRepublic "Burning Bridges" -- You can never go wrong with OneRepublic. This is just a fun fun.
Mumford and Sons "Lovers' Eyes" -- Love all from Mumford and Sons. This song is no exception.
Timbaland and Katy Perry "If We Ever Meet Again" -- Such a fun pop song.
Music Monday -- The Fray "Love Don't Die"
I like The Fray. There's something about their music that makes me happy. This song is just infectious.
Lyrics:
If I know one thing, that's true It ain't what you say, it's what you do And you don't say much, yeah, that's true But I listen when you do
A thousand years go by But love don't die
If I know one thing, that's true It's that I'm never leaving you And you don't say much, yeah, that's true But I lose it when you do
Don't let them tell no lie Love don't die
No matter where we go Or even if we don't And even if they try They'll never take my body from your side Love don't die
If there is one thing, that's true It's not what I say, it's what I do And I say too much, yeah, that's true So just listen to what I do
A thousand years go by But love don't die
No matter where we go Or even if we don't And even if they try They'll never take my body from your side Love don't die
She can break it up She can burn it down You can box it in Bury it in the ground You can close it off And turn it away Try to keep it down, Six feet in the ground
But love don't die
No matter where we go Or even if we don't And even if they try They'll never take my body from your side Love don't die
No matter where we go Or even if we don't I’d like to watch them try They'll never take my body from your side Love don't die
Music Monday -- M83 "Oblivion"
J and I saw Oblivion in theaters, but were underwhelmed. However, I loved loved loved the song that played at the end of the movie. I immediately had to find the song and buy it. M83 actually did the entire score for the movie. I love the moodiness of this song. It fits the movie, but also fits M83's sound. Love it!
Lyrics:
Since I was young, I knew I’d find youBut our love was a song sung by a dying swan And in the night, you hear me calling, You hear me calling And in your dreams you see me falling, falling
Breathe in the light I’ll stay here in the shadow Waiting for a sign, as the tide grows Higher, and higher, and higher
And when the nights are long All those stars recall your goodbye, your goodbye
And in the night you'll hear me calling, You'll hear me calling And in your dreams you'll see us falling, falling And in now you'll hear me calling, You'll hear me calling And in your dreams you'll see us falling, falling
Breathe in the light and say goodbye Breathe in the light and say goodbye.
