August Movie Month

My 30 day challenge was new-to-me movies. Unfortunately, my plan did not get off to a great start. I didn't watch a single movie for the first four days of the month. From there, I just lost momentum. Here are the movies that I watched during the month of August...

1. See Girl Run (2012) "A young adult woman decides to revisit her past relationships in order to find some guidance in her current life." -- Netflix told me that I would only give this movie 2 stars, but I enjoyed this quiet independent movie. It was a nice understated look a woman struggling with comparisons to her past and current relationships.

2. Lizzie Borden Took an Axe (2014) "The true story of Lizzie Borden, a young woman tried and acquitted in the 1892 murders of her father and stepmother." -- Very cheesy, but lots of fun to watch.

3. The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies (2014) "Bilbo and Company are forced to engage in a war against an array of combatants and keep the Lonely Mountain from falling into the hands of a rising darkness." -- I hadn't gotten around to actually watching the last film in the trilogy. Josh got it for me so I could watch. It wasn't amazing, but a good movie. I loved seeing Elrond and Galadriel be bad asses in the added scene.

4. Teacher of the Year (2014) "Surrounded by the eccentric faculty of Truman High School, Mitch Carter wins the California Teacher of the Year award and immediately receives a tempting offer that may force him to leave his job." -- A pretty depressing comedy. Meant to be funny, but I wasn't laughing.

5. The Boxtrolls (2014) "A young orphaned boy raised by underground cave-dwelling trash collectors tries to save his friends from an evil exterminator. Based on the children's novel 'Here Be Monsters' by Alan Snow."  -- The red hats were the best part of the movie. Arthur enjoyed watching the trolls. He loved their silly looks.

6. World War Z (2013) "United Nations employee Gerry Lane traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to destroy humanity itself." -- Finally watched this one. Yeah not a favorite. The pacing was really weird and there was a ton of exposition. A bit of a snore really. And I loved the book!
