#29 Candy Cane Christmas

Today's sketch comes from August 2016:

What I originally did:

This card is just a mash up of a ton of different scrap pieces. I love how they all seem to work together. My favorite piece is the candy cane paper in the background. I need to find more ways to use that pattern.

Today's sketch comes from May 2015:

Oh my goodness I love love love this card! Something about the muted color palette and the fun layers really gets me. In fact, I loved it so much, that we did this card for November's stamp club.

#26 Layered Patterns

Today's sketch comes from October 2015:

Here's what I originally did:

Another great card using the Merry Patterns Stamp Set. I love the fun deer image in this set. I repeated my deer image and overlaid a fun fussy cut sweater to create my main stamped image. I thought about having a simple background or maybe an embossed layer, but ultimately I went with a fun Christmas tree pattern. From there, it was just a matter of stamping my sentiment and adding a piece of ribbon.

  • Stamps: Merry Patterns
  • Inks: Old Olive; Cherry Cobbler; Basic Black
  • Cardstock: Merry Little Christmas DSP; Old Olive; Cherry Cobbler; Whisper White

#25 Nordic Circles

Today's sketch comes from October 2016:

Here's what I originally did:

I bought a pack of the Nordic Noel DSP when it appeared on the clearance rack. The patterns were too good to pass up. And I still have some paper leftover. So I decided to make a card highlighting the great patterns. I love the repeating circles on this card. Lots of fun!

#24 Peekaboo Season

Today's sketch comes from September 2014:

This sketch is perfect for a peekaboo image. In this case, I repeated the Tis the Season sentiment multiple times to fake a larger image. After stamping the sentiment, I layered on my pieces, but something was missing. I added the stamped foliage to break up the large pieces of Old Olive. Finally I added a strip of gold sequins to finish out the card.

#23 Plaid Trio

Today's sketch comes from August 2014:

I'm so glad that SU carried over the Cookie Cutter Christmas Stamp Set from last year's Holiday Catalog. The images are too cute to get rid of! For this card, I took a page from a Halloween card from last year, flipped it on the side, and switched out the ghouls for Christmas images. Plus, I found a great card to showcase the beautiful plaid paper from the Christmas Around the World DSP.

11:23.jpg
  • Stamps: Cookie Cutter Christmas; Merry Mistletoe
  • Inks: Read Red; Basic Black; Crumb Cake; Daffodil Delight; Chocolate Chip
  • Cardstock: Christmas Around the World DSP; Wood Textures DSP; Real Red; Garden Green; Whisper White
  • Accessories: Rhinestones; Black Rhinestones
  • Tools: Square Framelits

#22 Simply Wrapped in Warmth

Today's sketch comes from January 2016:

Here's what I originally did:

Today's card is another made from my huge stash of random scraps of paper. Most of the scrap came from old kits and December Daily stash. After pulling out some coordinating patterns, I stamped a simple sentiment, layered my pieces, and added a bit of gold foil washi tape.

#21 Quilted Reindeer

Today's sketch comes from May 2014:

Today's card was the first of many Merry Patterns reindeer cards I made this month. I love the simple nature of the repeating circles with lots of texture and pattern. As a finishing touch, I added some rhinestones to the reindeer's antlers.

#20 Nordic Throwback

Today's sketch comes from February 2017:

Here's what I originally did:

A simple card highlighting the great Nordic Noel DSP. I love the patterns in this, unfortunately retired, paper pack. I decided to not add much to the card. I stamped a simple sentiment and added a few white enamel shapes. Done!

  • Stamps: random stamp
  • Inks: Calypso Coral
  • Cardstock: Nordic Noel DSP (retired); Real Red; Whisper White
