Sunday Haul #5

Another part of my Zulily order arrived. I’m still (not) patiently waiting for my other four items…

My Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper share came this past week! I love getting all the new papers. Can’t wait to stare at them for forever before actually using them.

Abstract Slip

There’s something perfect about a clean and simple card. For this card, I used washi tape to create a mask for my stamped flowers. A simple sentiment, some layered cardstock, and a few rhinestones complete the card.

  • Stamps: Abstract Impressions

  • Ink: Gorgeous Grape; Highland Heather

  • Cardstock: Champagne Foil Sheets; Highland Heather; Whisper White

  • Accessories: Champagne Rhinestones

You're All Heart

I actually made some cards this week! What!?!?!?!

6:22-3.jpg

I finally, finally pulled out and used the Modern Heart Stamp Set (after it’s been retired of course). I love this great geometric heart. Such possibilities! For these cards, I dug through my random DSP scraps to find some fun color combos and patterns and chose two to make cards from. I ended up pulling out a ton of retired colors for the first card. I actually really loved the more subdued color palette on the first card. To finish I added a simple sentiment and some great accessories.

For the second card, I chose a much brighter color palette. It’s very colorful in person!

Week in the Life 2020 - Saturday and Sunday

For 2020’s WITL, I wasn’t planning on doing it until late summer or so. But then I thought that documenting a week during the height of the pandemic and quarantining might be interesting. I ended up creating almost a time capsule for future years. For my base pages, I pulled paper from a variety of stashes, using the Days of the Week puffy stickers as my color guide For insert cards, I used some Week in the Life cards from Ali Edwards and lots of random cards from my stash. Today’s post features Saturday and Sunday.

Reading: I just started When Women Ruled by Kara Cooney. It’s about the six queens of ancient Egypt. I’m only on the first queen, but it’s fascinating. Turns out I knew very little about the First Dynasty of ancient Egypt.

Watching: J and I are making our way through S3 of Broadchurch, but it’s so very heavy. To lighten up our nights, we started watching Holey Moley S1. A mini golf competition crossed with Wipe Out? We’re totally here for this!

Listening: Palaye Royale’s new album The Bastards dropped this week. Oh so incredibly good!

Making: I did manage to make a couple of homemade loaves of bread this week.

Feeling: For the past four days, I’ve really felt off. I’ve had a fever off and on, body aches, nausea, and headache. It’s been terrible…

Planning: Meal planning like every week…

Loving: I figured out the “Over Ice” feature on my coffee maker and have been making iced coffee all week. So nice when I want coffee but it’s 90 degrees.

Project Life January 2019

I finally got my 2019 Family Project Life album started this past week. I know, I’m so far behind! But I have a plan to get caught up. I’ve already organized most of the photos in my photos app. I just need to print, journal, and embellish. To help me, I’ve changed up my format this year. For the past two years, I did weekly spreads. They were fine and worked well for those years. But I noticed that I wasn’t consistent in taking photos every week in 2019 and that we visited the same places over and over (OCM, Romp n Roll, etc). I decided to go to a modified monthly format. For each month, I will have a number of miscellaneous pages including photos from around the house and random things. The remaining pages will each be dedicated to a place that we frequent or a big event.

For January, I have four pages of miscellaneous photos and such, including a page of our grilled cheese experiments. I then have one page dedicated to Romp n Roll and one page dedicated to the Children’s Museum. I purposefully left off embellishments on our event pages and focused on the miscellaneous pages. I plan on using the same format through the year.

Supplies used: I found an entire stack of Simple Stories year journalling cards and embellishments completely unused in my stash. I will be pulling primarily from that set for all my journalling cards this year.
