Project Life January 2016

A very light month for pictures. All of us were so sick that I completely forgot about taking pictures most days. And who wants pics of kleenex and soup anyway? For my 2016 month cards, I decided to use my beautiful September Skies core kit. I'm feeling much girlier than usual. Each month's title card has the same stamped date, but has a differently themed card. I tried to get away from the crazy themed cards from last year. I went a bit mix and match this time.

For January, I kept last year's blue and gray color scheme, but didn't make it too much about cold and snow. Even while we were in Indiana it didn't snow.

Page 1 and 2 have pics from our last days in Indiana visiting family. I added some snowflakes and silver embellishments. Those silver borders are from Heidi Swapp. Love them!

Page 3 holds random pics from home. Thankfully I had enough vertical photos to fill a Design L page protector without having to sacrifice any or fill with strange inserts.  Page 4 includes the few activity photos we had for the month. Arthur and I managed to get the zoo, Mel's Play Place, the park, and a giant sandbox. Unfortunately the last two activities were cut short by crankiness. I didn't realize he was coming down with a cold.

Here's hoping we stay healthy through February and get some good pictures!

Project Life December 2015

For December's PL pages, I used mainly cards and accessories from Simple Stories. The first two pages are pictures and events from our time in California.

Of course I had to do a page highlighting our traveling. I caught some great photos at the O'Hare airport.

From this page on, all our photos and events are from Indiana.

Now I just need to do the pages for Arthur and the twins' albums.

2016 Project Life Plans

I started Project Life in 2013 with the birth of my youngest son.  It was a lifesaver.  I wanted to have scrapbooks for all three of my kids, but I just didn’t have the time to really sit down and create full page spreads from scratch.  I needed some help.  Enter Project Life.  This scrapbooking system gives me the direction to create nice weekly spreads without a huge amount of time or brain power.  I love it!  Over the past two years, I have made four albums (family, Arthur, N, and A) filled with pictures, journaling, and embellishments.

As the year progressed, I have started to think about what works and what doesn’t.  After taking some time off my spreads, I have come up with my 2016 plan…

What I’m keeping the same:

  • Page Protector Size — I really love 12×12 size. It helps me get all the photos that I want in my spreads. I've been able to do a year's worth of family spreads in two volumes. Arthur's one album holds one year of his life. The twins' albums are holding 2-3 years in one. I love 12x12 albums!
  • Daily Journaling — I am trying to once again keep a simple daily journal. A lovely friend Pam bought me a 5-year one line journal that I'm going to put to good use this coming year.
  • Page Protector Design — I've stuck to mostly Design A page protectors. I do occasionally throw in a D or L or even a C, but I love that I can usually count of Design A to work for my spreads.
  • Monthly instead of Weekly -- I really enjoyed focusing on Monthly pages instead of weekly pages. I love the freedom to have 2 spreads or 8 spreads depending on the month.
  • Week in the Life in August -- I loved completing my first ever Week in the Life. Hoping to be as successful in 2016.

What I’m changing:

  • Over-abundance of pictures vs. Stories -- Most of my spreads are full of pictures with maybe one journalling card. I would like to include more written out stories.
  • Monthly Card Inserts — I used some Simple Stories monthly cards last year. It was nice, but I need a change. This year I am using some September Skies title cards for each month. It's much more feminine than my usual style, but I'm really digging it.

Aspects to work on:

  • Using my supplies — I have so many Project Life cards. I do not need anymore! Instead, I really need to work in using things from my stash. I did a decent job in 2015, but I really need to amp it up next year.
  • Day in the Life — I want to do this at least once a quarter.
  • My random items -- I've started including my TBR piles and Currently cards as album ending pages. I want to include more of them.
  • New ideas from Pinterest — I have an entire board of PL ideas and never use any of them.  I want to challenge myself to start using these great ideas. Maybe a monthly challenge to myself. (Look familiar? I've copied this goal from last year as I need to keep working on it.)

Project Life November 2015

I didn't think I would be able to finish these pages before I left for Indiana, but I somehow got them done. Well almost done. I'm missing out Thanksgiving Day pictures. I finished the journaling for those pages, I just need to add the pictures after I return home.

Page 1 featured some of the random photos laying around including Arthur riding the train and petting goat and a great pic of the lizard at the zoo.  I also had a fun before and after comparison of my crafting space. For embellishments, I added some great tags and leaf die cuts. I also decorated my November card with some washi tape.

Page 2 highlights our day visiting Habitot with a few friends. I added some tags and small embellishments, but kept it light.

Page 3 is all about our monthly trip to CDM. I cut down a sticker frame to add the "super cute" tag. I also used a ton of random stickers that fit with the color theme of the month.

Page 4 documents MVPA's first every Holiday Bazaar. In addition to selling Thirty-One and Stampin' Up cards (Colleen manned the table for me), I served as event coordinator. The pictures were taken by our wonderful photographer in residence: Mila. I decided to forego embellishments and leave the pictures to speak for themselves.

Page 5 includes our pictures from the Bay Area Discovery Museum. We met some friends for a great day in Sausalito. I added some great little word stickers and tags plus a few leaf stickers.

Pages 6 and 7 are marked for Thanksgiving Day.

Page 8 has more random photos from the month. I caught the two top pics at the zoo. The bottom two were taken by friend Colleen at a birthday party. I didn't want to crop any of these as they are so nice. I also chose not to embellish them.

Page 9 is the last page of November. Basically this is a just a round-up of the month with a few pictures that I printed but couldn't fit on another page. I'm also missing a picture of the twins in the hot tub on Thanksgiving day. I'll be printing that in December.

The last picture for the post is a bonus! I run Arthur's albums October to October. I like the idea of having an album for each year of his life. This may turn into an album for every two years eventually. He just had a birthday October, which meant it was time for a new album. And here's the resulting page! I've decided to stop using the Project Life Baby Neutral kit and start using the random small kid kits I've bought. I started the album with Snap's Baby Boy kit leaving out the baby specific cards. I like the color scheme of yellow, blues, green, orange, and gray. I plan on using this kit until I run out of cards (there's only about 40), and then moving on to the next toddler/little boy kit I have.

Thanksgiving Project Life

Today’s card is featured over at Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration and features a card made using Project Life x Stampin' Up products. I love the coordinating card collections, accessories, and stamp sets that SU offers. As an added bonus the PL collections are exclusive to SU and coordinate with our colors. Perfect combos!

I snapped up the Seasonal Snapshot 2015 bundle so I could have pieces for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (it also has Back to School items, but my little is only 2 so those will be used in something else). Unfortunately, I don't have pictures yet for Halloween or Thanksgiving. So I decided to use the PL supplies and make a nice Thanksgiving card. The only piece I modified is the large leaf. Originally the leaf was on a 3x4 card. I cut it out and stamped on the greeting. Layer that onto some pattern paper (a 4x6 card cut down to size) and finish off with some cute wood veneers and stickers.

Project Life September 2015

I went super simple for September. I somehow got so busy that I forgot to print my pictures until three days ago. So I finally got my pictures sorted and printed and ready to go. I got my pages done in two days!

Project Life August 2015

My color palette was blue, green, yellow, and red. I went with the Simple Stories kit as my base for color and designs. My pages were smaller this month due to Week in the Life. I chose to leave any photos from that week in that specific album. Very minimal this week, but still some good spreads.
